Any chance of some further info on this, like if it's even still happening?
Oh, and the definition of 'soon' as being 'less time than elapses between mass extinctions in the fossil record' is starting a to wear a little thin...

I'm used to it, I just don't recall anything in the EULA saying that I had to like it...

Part of my point was the month long gap in any info. When a lot of your customers pay per month to play the game, then it could be argued that a month is stretching the definition of 'soon'.
However, since Finagle's Law (The perversity of the Universe tends towards a maximum.) appears to be in full effect, and an hour and a quarter after my previous post there WAS some more info forthcoming, I shall slope off and resume waiting.

I think the main reason to do it now is to have the new forum set up and ready to handle the flood of posts when Freedom server falls over on 2XP weekend

In which case, they're cutting it too bloody fine, IMO.
Aiming to have the boards coming back (assuming the 72 hours is accurate) online after the DXP weekend has started? That's not a good idea, as the boards will be absolutely hammered by people checking to see if they got their user name, see what's new and shiny etc. etc.
They seem to be giving themselves no breathing room, but that's likely just my pessimism kicking in.

I fully agree with the statement that to truely find out if something works you have to chuck it right into the deep end.
Besides . . . how bad are the forums going to be for dbl xp? Most people will be ingame Sure AFTER the dbl xp and people start the usual "so how many levels did you get?" threads then it'll be a test

We know some of you have heard this before but this time we really mean it! Were moving to brand-spanking new message boards, and we dont mind telling you were kind of excited about it!
Were not just pleased to have great new softwarethe best part of this change is that City of Heroes® forum dwellers are about to become one big happy family! Thats right; were integrating our North American and European communities into one board so everyone can be together!
We will announce a firm date for the move soon, but our first order of business is to let you know about it as quickly as possible so that you have enough time to prepare! There are a couple of things that you need to do prior to the migration:
1. Save Your Private Messages!
To help minimize the amount of data that has to transfer over to the new forums (and decrease the amount of time the boards will need to be down during the migration), we will only be moving over the last two years worth of Private Messages. We advise all forum members to go through their PMs and copy/paste the ones they wish to save into a .doc or .txt file, or whatever other medium is preferred. Even though we will transfer over 2 years worth of PMs, we would like to suggest that everyone clean out their Message Box in general to the best of their ability and keep the number of PMs remaining to a minimum. It can only help with the migration!
2. Think about keeping or changing your existing forum handle!
You will be getting shiny new functions and options to play with on the new forums but changing your forum handle will NOT be one of them so make sure youre happy with your name prior to the transition! If youre not and want to make a change, please follow these directions:
<ul>[*]Step 1 Click on My Home
[*]Step 2 - Click Edit Personal information, email, password, etc.
[*]Step 3 Change Display Name
[*]Step 4 Click Submit[/list]
*Note you will need to enter and verify a password before clicking submit
