Ok I'm bored with the MA

I agree with all of this.

There's also the flip side as well. I put a lot of effort into creating an entertaining original arc that fitted in with CoH lore and used a custom mob that was integral to the story. I'm really really pleased to see that 10 people have now rated the arc and I'd love to hear what they had to say about it as I'm pretty certain it's not perfect and that they'd have helpful comments I could incorporate.

Did I get one single feedback message?

Did I heck.

Ever wondered how our costumes stay so clean and shiny given everything we put them through?

Then you need to try out Spandex Crisis (Arc ID 32943)

Aren't we all glad they limited the number of arcs an individual can publish now

I wonder how many people are complaining not because they cant find a decent arc to play, but because people aren't playing their arcs, blaming the sea of badly thought out arcs. Needle in a haystack and all that.

Give it time to settle. A lot of people just wanted to play around with the tool and create their own enemies. They will quickly tire of this anyway.

I agree that the search function could be better but is a review system really the way to go? I mean the time spent reading reveiws on the arc may not be asa productive as just reading the description and title. I mean you can get a quick idea of how much thought has been given just by the quality of these two items. Failing that if you spot one you think could be good, give it 2 miutes of your time. Read the story opener and maybe start the first mish, if its dross drop it. That probably takes less time than reading a bunch of reviews.

Anyway the more time that passes the more arcs you can try. And the more people can try yours!

Feedback still looks broken to me.

Since I14 went live:
I've received about 14 or 15 comments (I missed a couple before I started copying them to a text file - there are 12 comments in that text file).
This is from about 600 ratings (and who-knows how many players, since some may not rate).
I'm pretty certain that all feedback I've received since going live is from EU accounts.

So it looks to me like feedback is probably broken, if nothing else it seems to not work for cross-region comments (US<->EU) and I'm not certain that all same-region comments are delivered.

Well, I personally had no illusions about THAT. In fact, for someone who isn't widely renown, has no time or inclination for aggressive promotion, isn't native English-speaker and wasn't in beta I'm doing just fine. But, I really-really want to play more high-quality arcs from other players, to learn how to improve my ones, if nothing else.

Back on the beta forums, someone (my apologies, can't remember who) came up with the idea of using certain codes in the description. The system suggested was clunky and would look very ugly, as it consisted of a series of codes to show things like whether there was an EB, level range, and so forth.

But there's no reason we couldn't take something more usable from that.

Just a set of very simple descriptors slipped into the arc description; say, 'Story-driven', 'Challenge-driven', 'Humour-driven'... if concordance could be reached over what descriptors to use and a campaign of awareness-maximisation engaged upon, people could more easily find arcs suited to them, arcs which have been thought about.

Thing is we shoudln't have to.

In one way I can't blame the Devs. I think this has been very surprising to them too, the number of arcs posted - but equally I'd argue they should have forseen it given that I14 is just the MA. With nothing else to divert attention from it everyone's going to get on the bandwagon and they have no contingency.

That person could have been me as i have suggested such a system (but i did not put it in the beta). Yes it was clunky and at the time nobody liked it much. However I wish we had something like that right now.

To be honest it would have been coded. Why?
To make sure the codes don't get confused with normal words as the search engine is limited.

Story-Driven would be a less good code then SD1CD0HD1 with 0 standing for none and 1 for a lot.

With the current search engine, If I wanted a Story-Driven Humorous arc and people would use this system all I would need to search for are the terms SD1 and HD1

Perhaps I should try to find that old arc again and ask again.

For now at least, I would recommend you check out any of the vast numbers of missions I have mentioned in this thread as well as my arcs, if I may be so bold. All of them I would wholeheartedly recommend to others, and while I know it doesn't solve our in-game problems right now, I'd hate to see someone give up on MA because they can't find any decent arcs.

I was thinking about how they could make the in game search browser more useful for filtering out poorly made arcs. So far I can only think of adding sorting on amount of text in the arc (clues, character dialogues, souvenir, contact introductions etc). To not put shorter arcs at disadvantage, the total amount of text should be divided by the number of missions in the arc.

Ok, made a THREAD about my mission code system. Which if people would be willing to use it could help us out a bit.

Until MA 2.0 will reach us with a superior search engine with proper tags.
