Wait before editing your char's bio in Issue 14
Thanks for the warning
If anyone's got the spheres and goes ahead and does it anyway, could they say on here if it's fixed or not?
Updating my widow's bio was the second thing I planned on doing.
Good info but totaaly wrong section.
Thanks for the warning
Saying that, those of my chars for which I could come up with passable bios already have them, however...
Are you saying that you can't put any line breaks into custom MA critter descriptions? How about mission text, etc? Hopefully that won't have to be a wall of text?
(never tried it out on TC, so I'm completely in the dark about the finer details and current bug-status of the MA)
It's done this randomly for at least 4 years...

Linebreaks and <br>* tags aren't allowed in critter info since sometime last week. Just before the breaks went from critter descriptions, MA seemed to have trouble with dodgy HTML processing for display in lots of places (lots of spaces becoming &nbsp; and other problems). IIRC The fix to this came at the cost of linebreaks in descriptions - however I've taken that to be a bug rather than WAI.
In mission text you can place breaks/newlines in most pieces of text (e.g. clues, mission intro/sendoff/return, souvenirs) - so it won't all just be a wall of text.
BTW - the MA editor on test does still seem a little flakey to me - it doesn't like deleting past lines of text and it's quite common that you can type away and nothing appears until you reposition the cursor mid sentence and type a letter, at which point all the text appears.
TBH I'm expecting this and the odd other bug to be sorted before the end of next week. It's a shame that Easter is a 4 day holiday for many and so it looks like the devs had an artificially imposed deadline for launch. One more week and 1 or 2 patches would probably have seen a much better, more stable product.
* and not <br/> - CoX seems to place <br> tags in.. still it saves us a byte here and there.

Yeah, I was and still am a tad worried about I14 coming out now, tbh...The 'HTML' errors (I dont's see why they suddenly cropped outta nowhere...) in MA were irritating as hell...
But if this extends to Player Character Descriptions too? Thats nothing short of poor. Really, really poor.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Ah okay, thanks for the info
And yeah, pushing out a complex patch like this, which is bound to have some problems left, just before Easter weekend does seem like a strange, marketing-inspired decision...
Well if the next boxed set (architect editon) is released in US stores on the 14th (next Tuesday) as I think it is, they didn't have much choice but to get Issue 14 out before easter so people that pick it up can use the content announced on the box.
After searching a lot, finally I've found a thread explaining the same bg I have, which I reported a couple of weeks a go... probably it was around for quite some time, but it didn't happen to me before Issue 14 was released.... checking my I.D., which I don't use it for nothing special, just a list of my 50s in order of server and game (heroside an villainside), changed it from a vertical list to a square wall of words... and eveing trying to re-write them in the proper order, it didn't work at all.

Just a heads up that if the version of Issue 14 we're getting on Live is the same as on test, any edits you make to your characters' descriptions on the ID screen will strip all the linefeeds out, meaning your bio will turn from the nicely formatted paragraphs you had in Issue 13 and earlier into a wall of text if you make any edits. And once those linefeeds are gone, they're gone for good, I know no way of getting them back in at the moment.
It should be known issue since I bugged it, and I know others have reported it too, but for now that's how things work.
Not a significant problem for most people, but I know I would be absolutely gutted if I lost all linebreaks from the bios of some of characters.
(Yes I know this is likely WAI for MA Critters, but hopefully it's not for player characters).
