What power would it be best for me to put a knockback protection IO in? combat jumping/hover or maybe maneuvers? Thugs/pain by the way.

Cj or Maneuvers. Its not perma so you need to have the toggle running to benefit.

All the Knockback Protection IOs are permanently active once slotted, any power they are put in does not have to be active for you to get the protection. It doesn't matter at all where you put them.

But MM's can't use recharge intensive pet sets in their main minions, only in something like Dark Servant, so it's less of an issue.

Dark Servant doesn't take Recharge Intensive Pet sets.

Gang War does, however.

Yeah, Gang War is like the cherry on top of the big "F*** YOU MERCENARIES" cake. Not only are the thugs better than the military goons at....everything, and I mean absolutely everything, even the Bruisers handclap (post I14 tweak) is better and more useful control than than what the Spec Ops get up to, but then they get Gang War to stuff yet more defense and resistance in! And Gang War itself is a wonderful opener against Elite Bosses so they don't wipe out your entire cohort with their alpha.

With two Enforcers and all the Defence IO's, your Thugs end up at...what is it, about 25% defense? BEFORE you slot the Enforcers? Sick. With 20% resist dumped on top. Thugs are like a freakin' swiss army knife, is there anything they can't do?

Well so far gang war and world of pain have been efficient enough. Mostly my thugs have died when I was his by an aoe that did high damage and knock down. (Allowing the enemy to land a 2nd hit before I could heal)
Luckily I do not have that problem any more. But adding even more resist on top of what [censored] gives will be nice.
