The Chief moved up to the tunnel and hauled the rusted grill-gates open without a pause. He raised one glowing fist to the darkness, revealing little of the tunnel beyond.
"Alright. If you're coming, stay close and stick together. Running off in here will get you ambushed, or worse," he warned, glancing at the crowd around the entrance. "Anyone else, keep an eye on any other entrances around the place. Let the PPD know if you see anything else."
So saying, he squeezed through the tunnel entrance, his armour shifting to black and red as he slipped into the shadows beyond...

As the crew of heroes slipped slowly through the black tunnel, nothing but the sound of echoed drips and the occasional squeak of a rat could be heard.

The tunnel was straight and narrow, with dim lights occasionally reflecting off the sewage and slime-covered brick walls. The smell was awful, but was reassuring to the heroes in some ways. You know you're on the track of Vahzilok when you're hit by the stench of rotting corpses.

The tunnel ended abruptly, a large metal iris gate between them and their path. A lever stood to one side, rusty but oiled and well used.

The Chief glared at the gateway, glancing at the others in the tunnels cramped, stinking confines. He seemed to be leaking negative energy at every joint, and it was hard to make out his darkened form against the shadows. Anyone who knew the Chief, by repute or study, would recognize the aspect of Omega, the Warshade that had, at some point, merged with the robotic alien. The faint tang of nictus energy was another giveaway.
"Be careful," the Chief growled, before glaring at the door again. "I'm going to take a looksee...Follow me if you hear screaming."
Without another word he seemed to slip into total darkness, and a deeper, seething shadow leaked through the folds in the iris doorway, as the pure energy form of Omega leaked stealthily through into the next room...

Rolling her eyes Flash moved to the lever, examined then pulled it, stepping through the door as it opens and looking about ready to fight, body glowing faintly with an inner light...

The Chief had barely snuck inside when he heard the door crank open behind him. Omega seethed angrily, and it took both the Chief and the mind of Alpha, Omega's Peacebringer counterpart, to keep the angry Warshade in check. Nevertheless, as the Chief took on a shadowy form, he shot a warning look at Flash, the arched metallic brow making his annoyance quite clear, before he quickly looked back and scanned the room...

The first thing that hit the heroes as the door opened was the increase in smell. As the stench of rotten flesh wafted down the tunnel, so did the sound of voices just inside the room. Amongst the tables, body parts and sewage were five vahzilok surgeons and their boss, a skinny old man with a mechanical pack on his back with arms coming off it in all directions. On the end were buzz saws, crusted blood all the way around the outside of them.

On the floor next to them were two police officers and a man sitting on the ground motionless. The quick, excited dialogue of one of the surgeons echoed down the passage.

"--too good to be true! 's like 'es got no brain or summit. Jus' does as 'es told, like a good lil' sac o' meat. I'm tellin' ya, that robot ain't kiddin'! Free meat is what 'e promised, and look wha' we got! Coppers too!"

The doctor looked mildly interested, turning to the hostages and looking them over.

"You should make sure you get every one. Try not to get so much attention next time. If there will be as many as it says... we certainly have run into a spot of good luck. Live specimens are so hard to come by nowadays..."

The doctor reached over to the table and picked up a large hacksaw.

"Put the live one of the table. Let's begin."

The Chief instantly had to lash out internally to stop Omega from simply launching him forward to try and tear the surgeons limb from limb. While Alpha restrained his seething companion, the Chief slunk behind a large cistern, his internal glow dimming down to nothing, helping him blend in. He motioned pointedly for the others to either stay put or find cover. If they made too obvious an approach, the Vahzliok could easily try and hold the captives as, well, meatshields.
Wait...
What had they meant be 'robot'?

Flash stood at the enterance just to the side watching on, an eyebrow raised, hoping the fact a rather large winch infront of her would obscure her from their view....

light keeper hides those who found poor cover whith her power of light so thet blendin like her, and creeps over to the chief and nods to tell him there coverd.

Aisha glided through the open entrance and landed with the grace of a ballet dancer just outside the entrance, the sewer water barely making a ripple as she landed softly.

Her training instantly kicked in and she crouched low, hiding in the dim shadows and somehow ignoring the smell that was now much closer to her nose.

A silky, softly spoken whisper escaped her lips as she peered into the room as best she could while staying out of sight.

"If we're going to do this, we have to do it quick. They've got hostages, and it sounds like there are a lot of them..."

"Well, I can get in there fast, just wondering if you lot could keep up if you plan on smacking if not fine." Flash grimaced as the stench seeped through the mask packed with filters, "And holy hell that's a strong smell...." looking over to Aisha and the others

Happy that the officer he escorted to hospital was going to recover he turned and headed off towards the sewer tunnel the rest had headed off to.

Reaching the pipe he sniffed, and almost barfed. He took a deep breath of fresh air before venturing into the darkness.

Here and there he found small pockets of surgeons and some reanimated zombies. Teleporting past them he continued on, glad he had learned how to stealth himself during the jump.

He hoped he wouldn't be too late...

The Chief motioned with one dark gauntlet, gesturing for the others to spread out around the Vahzilok surgeons. He also pointed upwards, suggesting someone cover the roof, anything to try and get a drop on the crazy bone-doctors while they were still unaware and distracted...

One of the surgeons nodded and heaved a policeman over his shoulder. Carrying him over to the table, he nearly turned directly to face the hiding heroes but luckily turned to the table at the last second.

Laying the cop down, the surgeon walked back to where his comrades stood, eager for the show to begin. One of them poked the unresponsive civilian in the eye and giggled as he didn't react. The doctor walked over to the police office on the table, his saws whirring to life as if they could sense the coming meat.
He drew a pair of scissors from inside his coat and began cutting away the clothes, preparing to start his gruesome work.

light keeper whisper to other heros could hear "i geuss we go now befoer this doc does his thing guys." Sleathed by her light control she quiet yet quickly made her way over the hostages.

Kid dashed through the twisting tunnels, hitting dead end after dead end. "Come on dammit. I need to get to the others" He soon reached the doors that led to the room the heroes were observing the Vahzilok Surgeons. Hearing the saws whirring inside he carefully opened the door...

Flash grimiced and gritting her teeth was bearing down upon the Doc within seconds of leaping the winch, flames engulfing her arms, burning the Doc into submission before chaging targets hoping the rest could keep up, "Screw stealth."

The Chief saw Flash move as the surgeon started cutting at cloth, and he knew it would only be seconds before the manic zealot moved onto the flesh.
"Get them!" he roared, exploding from the shadows, his colours changing to the natural, and reknowned, red and white. Even as he got airborne, ready to dive in, he unleashed a twin bolt of energy from his visor, aimed to catsh the cutting surgeon square in the side, before powering straight at him.
"ENTOR' THALOS!"

Aisha leapt to her feet, time seeming to freeze for a second as she scanned the room.

Her brow furrowed in a grimace. The lack of teamwork and coordination displayed in the attack was almost disgraceful, and the shouting of a war cry made her brain shudder.

Realising she had no choice and had to make the best of the situation, she bounded into the room with the grace of a jungle cat, her hands blazing with Kheldian energy before launching two swift bolts at the surgeon nearest the hostages.

The initial shock of finding five heroes leaping and yelling at them quickly subsided into the human fight or flight response.

The doctor at the table turned in surprise, the bolt flying through the exact place he'd been standing a second earlier, if it hadn't been for the sudden noise. Glaring at them angrily he raised his saws to Flash and the Chief as they approached.

The surgeon nearest the hostages took a bolt to the back, sending him flying forward, along with his finger which stabbed the unresponsive civilian in the eye, gouging it out. The other bolt missed and hit the wall, but the civilian slumped down, not even reacting with the amount of blood coming out.

One of the other surgeons ran to his bosses aid, while the other three attacked the girl who had killed their friend. While the beefier one ran to engage Alura, the other two drew crossbows and began firing.

The Chief swore internally as he saw one of the hostages injured. If he couldnt heal the wound in time, then he would be the one to answer for it. They should have taken time, been more careful...
At least make sure none of the others need tending to.

He landed on his chosen target like a hammer, pulverizing him into the floor under a tonne of polished Tolinium steel. Then he leapt again, landing away from the hostages medical beds. He shouted to get the attention of Vahziloks lackeys, motioning tauntingly at them with one hand, while, unseen and unnoticed, a specified wave of EMP signals washed over them, subtly tweaking synapses to focus everything on the source. In this case, The Chief.
"Get the civilians out of here!" he paused to shout at the others, before adjusting his stance and powering up his gauntlets, their red glow lighting a little glove in the darkness, as he let the enemy come to him.

HK launched himself through the door and raised his hands pointing at Chief, his hands glowed for a moment as a red mist descended over chief before fading into him. Smiling, he digs deep and sends a huge wave of energy directly into Flash, hiking her adrenalin to above usual limits.

He blinks and propels himself to the others, just leaving their hiding place and casts his arms out to the side. A green and blue mist pulses from him revitalising the heroes.

The Chief felt the boost the Empaths efforts had give him, and he used it to amp up the EMP's he was using to distract the crazed surgeons, almost hauling directly on their brains.
"Get to the wounded one," he paused to shout at HK, motioning briefly to the hostage who had had his eye taken out by one of the doctors, and who was still bleeding.

Flash jumped kicking the nearest Surgeon in the chest, landing nimbly ready for a fight, reacting without thinking, grabbing the arm as it slices, twisting and kicking the elbow breaking it with a sickening snap...

Nods and vaults the table landing a few feet away from the last victim.
