Coming soon to a union near you!
Its been a while since theres been a gd damz style competition night isnt it? Well fear no more!!! In 3 weeks time (on an exact date to be confirmed) my supergroup "The Phoenix Phalanx" is proud to present . . . . .

The Phoenix maze-a-thon!

Over the next few days i'll be designing 3/4 large rooms in the supergroup base with ground to wall mazes. Each room will be connected to eachother with dead ends and possibly send you into the wrong room and back at the start. The prize (which is yet to be confirmed but a minimum 50 mill) will be held by me at the end of the maze.
Also as a little extra "oooooooo" there WILL be some things to hinder you along the way . . . . . . *shines halo*

People wanted competitions, well they got one . . . . thats different! Date be confirmed in next few days . . . .

Though i aint expecting many to turn up for a night of competitions its still going ahead. Going to be using the dbl xp weekend to raise the inf/prestige needed for this (iv got the original inf that i said already just as a FYI, just want to be greedy and get more now). Im now expecting to raise over 150 mill for this night of competitions, yes thats my personal target

"Maze rooms" have been bought and as a little teaser:

Four rooms in total. first room is fully lit up, just a normal maze with a few dead ends.
The 2nd/3rd/4th rooms are all PITCH BLACK. I did a quick test run and (when the maze is up) you'll hardly be able to see. However in each dark room there will be a mini prize.

For example in dark room 1 there will be numberous wrong turnings. On one of the wrong turning will be a player (1 per dark room) which if your the first to get to him/her will receive something small like 3 million. However the location of the player will be as far away from the big prize as possible to well honestly . . .. . . . . . annoy you

I'll be holding the final prize at the end of the maze which will only be to first place

Now due to how long it took me earlier to put up one piece of wall earlier, im only dedicating 4 rooms to this, however if this does turn out to be a success i'll be more than happy to double the size and change the maze completely.

Will post up a screenie as an example of the dark room sometime tommorow.

Out of interest Damz, have you tried disabling all advanced graphics and turning the brightness/contrast on you monitor up ?

We don't want the dark rooms to be .. well .. non-dark now do we ?

Update:

Maze should be competed within the next few days (which if is the case, i'll bring the competition forward), and as promised heres a little teaser of what to expect.

Well theres a little teaser of what to expect.
Now due to base entry restrictions (coalitions/sg members/team members only) there might be a few problems on how to enter.
For this i suggest either of the following:

1) Joinin one of my supergroup members team to be allowed entry.

2) Creating a new character and temp joining the supergroup on the day (will give the prize fund to whichever of your characters you want then).

I think theyr the only ways to enter the base however if im wrong please proove me incorrect

Edit: To answer your question Fahie if you do adjust contrast then yes the dark room will no longer be dark (nothing i can do in that respect ), however i am hoping that people will try not to cheat and enjoy a fun competition of which i aint seen before on these servers With the walls up it'll be even darker too remember *evil smile*, im considering putting up one or two wall lights along the way though

Your friend making a great job. Not for prize but for seeing that amazing thing, you can count me in.

Don't know much SG Base entry procedure but i am easy with anything. To me second one seems more secure so i will roll a new alt on that certain date.

Ok heres the FINAL update im going to do until the actual event notice.

First maze room is now officially done (just under 2600 safes) and iv decided on the themes/rules for the other rooms and everything.

Heres what i told some of the supergroup members earlier:

1st room: The easy room. Fully lit up with a few dead ends, but is still relatively easy. There IS a quickest route but i highly doubt anybody will find that route on first attempt (a few players tried it and each got lost on the way for a bit).
Verdict = success

2nd room: Will start off as having three entrance points. Each entrance point has a few dead ends. Only one of them will lead to the exit to the third room. Room is in darkness but will have a few lights along the way. Also Will be a small section which the ground will be raised onto the second floor.

3rd room: Now this is going to be the room that'll make you all remember the competition. As with the second room there will be 3 starting points . . . however there'll be 2 floors from the start too. So now you have 6 ways to choose from and who knows . . . . . there might be a few holes on the upper layers too to slow you down a bit

Final room is where i'll be to announce the winner

Before i get too caught up in this im going to have to put this on hold. With what iv got planned theres going to be over 20k safes in just 3 rooms and judging from synapse post HERE , i want to wait to find out the limit (or if im even close to it) before crashing my supergroups base. On the plus side it'ld mean more money. Spare 100 mill atm for a competition night so can get plenty more for it.

Well Damz, I wont recommend crashing your base. Our base has been lost and found in about 5-6 times now.
So we are going to make bases on test and crash them.
We sort of got inspired that there was unlimited amount of decorative items that was possible... as if.

But do test out, im sure the Devs would love more results. Seems like you have a different angle then we had.

on page two of your linked thread Damz, one poster mentions a number of around 14,400 items as base-crashable.

Unfortunately i went by synapse post HERE here in which he states 10 - 12k is a safe bet.

I went by that amount and thus calculated the rough estimate my base would have. The first room maze when completed had ROUGHLYjust under 3k safes and that was the small/easy room.
The second/third rooms were going to be double the size/safes which by estimations wouldv brought the total items up to between 14 - 15k. I couldv made the maze smaller/more simpler i know but it wouldntv been what i had planned so i decided that i had to delete it so as not to risk my supergroups base crashing. As you can see from the screenies it took a LOT of time just to do the first/simple room so i was actually quite gutted to have to delete them.
Even in a "mini damz rage" i spent the 110 mill i saved for it on my characters enhancements to make me feel better (how sad i know but ssshhh ).

But never fear, after enhancing my toon to a higher degree of earning influence faster, im now saving up again for an even BETTER competition night. If my ideas go through for this then it'll be an epic night.

Introducing the damzel maze!!!! (aka the crystal maze)

Its a bunch of fun mini competitions in which participants sign up (either solo/grouped havent decided yet) and people get points for position they finish in each competition.
Obviously this has only come into my head last few days so THIS one is now the new "3 weeks away" thing. But hes a rough sketch where rules/comps will change.

People sign up on here or ingame on the day. I set up a competition "table league" as such. People are guaranteed a prize amount for taking part in the entire thing. Whether i decide its solo or teamed will determin the outcome of what competitions are played.

For example if teamed there will be four options. Puzzle/technique/speed/strength and a random roll is used to decide which one will be played (OR if we'r doing a competition mini league then each team gets to picked and theyr timed on each task).

Puzzle = a sort of quiz based on city of heroes. For example what exploration badge has the description

"Fighting in a nice big arena is one thing, but fighting in a cage is completely... different. Only the strong survive a cage match. "

Technique = a possible race from 1 end of the map to other and "tag" your partner to run back? Level restrictions to make enemy spawns dangerous possibly.

Speed = On a designated map i'll go off to ONE of the exploration badge locations and hide near it. First team to find me wins.

Stregnth = Each team head to monster island, first to defeat a "monster" wins.

Again these are just ROUGH ideas im throwing together. Very dissapointed i had to delete the maze rooms (i showed it off to a lot of people lol) but hopefully something like this will be better.
Now dont expect an update until iv finalised plans and gotten myself a hell of a lot of money (so soon).

Edit: After reading the rough competition ideas, iv decided theyr rubbish and ima 100% think of something much more creative than that. Once date finalised i'll contact a few people i know ingame to see if they are willing to organise tfs/mothership raids/gm hunts after the competition day/night since im nowhere near as skilled as them in those departments.


Edit2: Also iv finally figured out how to have an ingame lottery which gets the "numbers" random rolls with no way of fixing the results. Update on this VERY soon
