Vet Reward Idea: One-time Programmable Teleporter

Ok there's a few vet rewards that don't really pass muster -and of course there's a requirement for a new one to be dreamt up every quarter anyhow.

Here's one idea, that I think would be useful without game breaking. That's a personal teleporter that you select the destination once, and then it's locked in for that toon. (It could be given again I guess and a second Destination added?)

I'm not sure how it would work mechanically... a selection from a list (a la Base/Ouroboros TPs) or you physically visit the place you want to go.

It means you could, for example, choose a toon that is instantly ported to the steps of City Hall, or Wentworths in Steel, or outside Facemaker in Cap.

But it does give a bit more flexibility for the seasoned campaigner without making the game too easy IMO. Clearly it needs to be individual for every character (otherwise only co-op zones are allowed) but maybe the accumulation of additional destinations may be possible and thus add more flexibility.

It sounds nice - but I'm sure it would open up way too many loopholes. I'll keep my 'signing' for now until it's discussed a little further. However, it sounds like something that can be taken advantage of in bad ways...

Well I've been thinking of it for some time and I've never been able to think of a loophole. Maybe if you set it to the Mothership when the shields were down and then went there when they were up (and use team teleport to get your 7 friends there) you get splattered on arrival (but if that's a danger make it so it can't get through the shield.)

I'd imagine it would have a similar cooldown to the Pocket D/Base TP so hard to exploit.

Make it that you cannot set the tp to anywhere in a hazard zone.

will cut out 99% of exploits.

Also useful for going to your day job. Would be nice if you could change the location say once a month or so.

Too much of an exploit I guess. But if you make it so that you get a new destination every other Vet Reward etc you could get potentially 5 destinations in 2 years

I like the idea, but I wouldnt make it reprogrammable once a month or anything like that.The Reprogramming could be given as a future vet award though...

I like the idea.

Maybe to reprogram it you could do a mission? BUT only allow the mission to be done every few levels (say lvl 10, 20, 30 40 and 50). That way the location can be changed to a good one for a character of a given level.

The mission could be given out by the city hall rep or maybe by someone new who's in charge of the city wide teleport network, the "City Engineer" maybe
