It doesn't work for global tells but tells from the same server it works just fine.

It doesn't have to be from the other server, just global tells. I have a few global mates that /tell each other through global rather than actual alt name and it is a bit hit or miss whether it gets through or not. and it is impossible to reply to.
Is this the chat bug where you get a tell that resembles 3 or 4 chars and that's it ? e.g. "[chat] fr" then nothing else ?
As i've been getting that a lot lately and just thought 'oh dear, it's broken' and thought nothing more of it.
typing /reply, message willl reply to the broken tell...i do not know why they hot key is not workking which is the backspace for it

Yes, that's it - the bug removes the message, as well as most of the sender's name, except the last few letters.

/r (message) without the comma??
Just type /r then your message, no need for a comma.
