And FFMs repost (and the one I was working on) is gone too.

Why bother!

GR? How come harmless posts have gone now? Ones posted AFTER you'd done the pruning, so weren't in the chain?

I will repost once more as it's a perfectly valid suggestion... But this is the last time!

Actually... I *have* a US account, though inactive, so my global name exists over there already; just not my character names, so I'm less worried about that part.

I think the only viable solution is a special title, akin to the custom yellow titles you see on some characters, showing your global name. That would, at least, resolve the character name issue. List it on searches so that people send tells to your global rather than the char name, and have NPC's just use the char name. In fact, only allow tells and game emails to global names instead of character names, and make the email store global, so you see the same ones no matter what char you're on.

Duplicate global names are STILL a potential problem though, and would probably result in SOME losses, but not as many, I think. I wouldn't so much mind an EU prefix to my global, though...

Probably because the posts were made in reply to a post that was in the process of being removed because it was completely off topic and commenting on moderation that was in progress. Because of the way the pruning moderation of this forum works. It was entirely inadvertent - I hadn't seen your post until after it was removed.

Hang on a minute my comendation post's gone now and wasnt linked to anything!

The forum thinks it was linked to a post I removed after the initial prune (see above).

Not sure why this has happened, as your post is not in the either of the chains removed. May be linked to the forum thinking you were replying to a post that was no longer present.

Having gone through all that, I will remind everyone that it is not allowed to discuss moderation decisions on the public forums. Feel free to PM me with any questions / concerns.

If it was minor characters then i would probably suck it up, but if it was the mains that I have stuck with and got to 50, then I would leave.

Zhaan, Chakyra, Fiorina 161, Aeryn, Polly Nation, Dee Pression, Shazanne, Night Jester and too many more to mention.

I don't care about my global name one jot, globals weren't added till long after I started playing. I have two now and if both were taken I have no doubt I could think of another. But character names mean something. Losing them would mean the game losing me, I'd be extremely upset but at that point what is the point in carrying on.

My character names are inherently tied to the bios, the character (if they are roleplayed), and the way they act in-game.
If a fictional server merge did throw up a problem then I doubt I would be able to recapture my interest in the toon.

Like-wise with the competition (ie:Champions-Online/Dc Universe), If a company started playing silly buggers and insisting they can not permit duplication of your toons on another superhero game because they are Intellectual Copyright through the EULA (albeit your creation), then I would most likely delete the toon and emigrate.

So in my opinion in all its denominations ie: CoX--->CO/CO--->CoX/CoX--->DCUO/DCUO--->CoX and all the variations, - Its best if all companies concerned take a Laissez-faire attitude to player creations, their pride in them and not force their hand.

Not sure if i would quit it would really depends on which characters i lost.

If they were what i think of as my minor characters eg. Those that I've created but not embellished with a full on back story, i would probably just think of a new name and move on.

However if they were those that i had given history i would be far more tempted to just let my subscription slide as i wouldn't have the same connection with my character any more.

I am a rpg'er to. Albeit i preserve my rpg'ing mostly to the tabletop. I know and appreciate the time and effort put into a character. I also understand that having to change your name hurts.

But when things change and they sometimes do. I got the choice between following the change and continue playing the character I love even if he or she is changed a bit by the change or throw it all away. Now a name change while not fun would not make me throw away the towel. Because after all I love my character. If Grinning Spade was taken i would try something very close to the name. Like Grinning Spade. Same name for all purposes. No harm done. Annoying at best.

Or I could see it as a challenge. A roleplay challenge. No longer am I Grinning Spade from now on i will be named Grinning Reaper. I will be the same person but I choose to change my name. Or something happened that made me decided to change it. Anyway, it would give me as roleplayer the opportunity to turn something annoying into an interesting roleplay opportunity. In my case, he choose to change the name to reflect the inner darkness that brings him further and further away from the gentleman he always has claimed to be. Ever considered things that way?

Hopefully this shouldn't arrise as I have created toons on a number of the US servers with what I consider 'My Names'(tm). So I would just delete the lvl10ish name place holder and move my mains.

I like to do this in all games I might like to play. Get in the beta and then reserve my names.
