L16, Taunt: Same as the Tanker taunt

L20, Lockdown(toggle): Using techniques learnt during training, you stop enemies from passing you and instead force them to face your shield by immobilising all those in melee and causing a short duration Taunt, high end cost. If you take this, you cannot take Call Reinforcements

L20, Call Reinforcements: You call for the reinforcements of a SWAT team, summoning two SWAT Officers and a SWAT Equalizer, they will aid you in battle until you zone or are defeated, very long recharge, if you take this you cannot take Lockdown

L26, Smoke Grenade: Same as Devices

L35, Force of Justice(click 120sec): For a short while you become inspired to rise above your enemies as a force of justice, increasing your resistance to damage greatly (50% unenhanced) aswell as causing weaker enemies to cower in fear from your presence, when it wares off you will be worn out(-100 endurance, -100% recovery, 10 seconds) and left vulnerable to attack(-30% resistance to all, -50% defence to all, 30 seconds), very long recharge, if you take this you cannot take Inspirational Stance.

L28, Club Swing: You hit your enemy with a club for high damage, slow recharge

L32, Petrol Bomb: You throw a petrol bomb at the enemy, igniting them and everything around them for high fire DoT, slow recharge

L32, Spray Paint: You aim a spray can enemy's face and spray, blinding them temporarily and decreasing their tohit and taunting them at the same time, moderate recharge, if you use a fire-based attack beforehand this attack will do moderate fire damage

Secondary Powerset: Free Spirit

L1, Blind Luck(toggle): You are lucky from years of finding your own way, giving you +defence(10%) to melee attacks and +defence(16%) to ranged attacks

L2, Unexpected Attacks(auto): Because of your lack of training, you attack wildly in your own style, giving you an extra chance tohit(7% unenhanced) unexpecting enemies

L4, Freestyle(auto): Your free way of life has taught you how to navigate the streets and fights with ease, increasing your running and jumping abilities(35%) aswell as your reactions, effectively making your powers recharge quicker(20%)

L10, Build Up

L16, Aim

I really, REALLY like the ideas of these so far. Much more 'traditional comicbook' options, even more so than the normal ATs. They just have a ton of character. Yes, numbers might not be perfect (Im not wise on them, but a few looked a bit high on some powers) but its just...well, dunno how to put it, except;

I am not that favourable.

This is not about joe the beat cop on patrol. This is about superheroes and villains. Normal humans should not be in the picture except as people who need to be rescued.

And yes, I hate the manta, the scrapyarders and the normal police officers as well. For me they are wrong.

So, we're scrapping any Natural who isn't an alien, and the Technology origin?

^ This
This is about Heroes. And Villains.
Heroes: Someone who goes above and beyond either the call of duty or what is expected from them to perform great acts for others.
Villains: Those who do bad or terrible things to further their own diabolical ends.

That by no means exempts normal humans from that. Anyway, what about fictional characters like Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne? Their still only humans, they jsut have all the shniy gear. I see no reason why the classification cant extend to the likes of the two ATs suggested above.

The average joe on the street is just that; someone who cant be bothere or doesnt have the guts to be either good or bad. The two ATs very much fit the idea that people are either stepping up, or jumping off.

A policeman is a person doing his job protecting the street. He is not a superhero. If policeman could do a superheroes job they wouldn't need us to do the dirty work right? In fact they would downright forbid us being vigilantes. It was only after heroes had shown that they could do things the poclice could not that the superhero act was signed.

So I don't see a policeman archetype as a viable one. If the policeman feels like beating up villains after office hours though. He can pick up his cape and do so in his own free time like any other hero. This will of course be nicely covered in i13.

Meh, the fact that not all Villains are superpowered still leads me to disagree. Anyway, PPD Swat, namely Grenadier bosses, are still human, and can still duke the watsits offa people.
And, hang on, arent Heroes doing the same thing? Protecting the streets? I dont really see the differences. As far as I can make out, in fact, most of the PPD could easily be classed as Natural origin heroes. Its so fine a line I dont even know if its there.

Law enforcers generally don't like others coming onto their turf. So they probably don't like the hero thing one itsy bitsy bit. So the police are trying. With swat teams, robots, psi cops and kheldians to try to prove that they can control the streets and fight superpowered threats. To prove to the government that heroes are no longer neccesary. So that law and order will be restored to the proper authorities. Politics at work.

So they won't be happy with a policeman going out of the team. Especially when that hero is wearing their colours.

Also note how the police is dealing with the super powered beings they must fight. At high threat levels there are no non enhanced policeofficers at work anymore. There is a limit at what flesh and bone can do unenhanced.

Of course you can point out that lot of opponents are unenhanced which imo is a terrible mistake of the developers. For example a freak minion should be able to beat up a an working at the docks. Yet they can't. So whats the point enhancing yourself when joe doe is as strong as you are? And a dockworker is just a john doe on strike.

Riot Officers stop appearing past, what, level 20? Kind of shows their ranking in the metahuman food chain. Wouldn't make much sense to see one in, for example, the STF.
You'd be better off rolling a Peacebringer and asking the devs for that nifty sash the PPD Awakened wear.

Meh, fair point I guess. Maybe give them a battlearmour option. I Know Id sign up to wear one of those Shell or Hardsuits :P
As to Scrapyarders, YES they are stupidly overpowered. It really galls me. Wyvern are bad enough. Mind you, I think dynamite would hurt whatever you are. But, again, meh...
Anyhow, it was a suggestion. I think it was quite neat. Game on.

Aren't Crab Spiders/Fortunata VEAT's kinda the same in terms of their just ppl who work for LR?

I think HEAT's could use an added boost like this! I for one would roll one tonight if I could

The PPD AT is brilliant. Really liking the sound of it.

The Anarchist idea is just classic though. A Mace/WP Brute and a Thugs/ MM rolled into one? Awesome!

/Signed, definately.

Yeah... you still have to fight Malta at higher levels, which implies that a normal person, with the right gear, can still kick [censored].

[/ QUOTE ]In the case of the PPD this appears to be a Kheldian shoved up your butt, not a nightstick and riot shield.

In the case of Malta it's bigass robots and Sapper rifles. Oh, and pretty much the deadliest handguns ever designed on this planet. They must have those patented or something.

In the case of VEATs, well... You see Fortunata, Crabs, Banes and Night Widows(?) all the way up to level 50. Don't underestimate psionic ('Normal' only in the loosest sense of the word) women, or men armed with laser-maces wearing 3-inch thick plate armor made out of who knows what. Banes in particular are murder.

At least recommend the Power Armor Corps (popular request) or the Psi-Cops (Oops, Psi Blasters, i12. Not even a unique costume.), they'd be more convincing.

...Granted, who am I to talk about "convincing" when I have a level 50 Thugs/ Mastermind?

I just want a Shivan Decimator Epic AT.

That is all.

Ok, so not quite all, but while the points made in this thread are valid, they are rather pointless, if the Devs have the imagination to reason the creation of the PPD EAT, then they can put it into the game.

Some players will agree with whatever the Devs say (and I mean a thought out reason, not just 'a wizard did it') and play them. Some players will agree with the points already made and not play them. Finally, some players will just play them because they are new.

ohhh i like both the hero and villian ideas give abit more to the aspect each archetype is a dark or light version of another (though never figured what the good version of a stalker)
