Do I need a farmer(Fire/Kin) to make my ppl good at PVP?

Yes, you can't possibly PvP if you don't have a fire/kin (preferably 2 of them).

(slightly more constructive assuming you're a new player) just have fun, learn to play the game and worry about farming (or not) later

To try and help out the new person for once ... ( I think I must be ill or something )

Farming and pvp'ing are basically mutually exclusive.

Farming is the art of running through PVE maps very quickly in order to gain as much influence, drops and pvp for other members as possible.

PVP is about killing other players.

I don't personally know of any good farm build that is of good use in pvp, be it team or solo pvp.

If you *are* new, seriously .. don't worry about uber builds. Play the game, enjoy it, get a feel for it, then look at making what you want be it pve or pvp.

And yes, my first 50 was fire/ice blaster ... i *did* do that

I assume the original question was 'do I need a farming toon so I can gather lots of inf and pimp up my PvP toons?'

Ahh ..

Crossed wires

IMHO ... yes. You need the inf for the purples and uniques.

Having said that, a badly slotted but well played toon will do far better than the same toon well slotted, but badly played.

Inventions do not make a toon great.
They do however make a great toon absolutely awesome

I read this and was like, [censored] are you talking about???

If your new to the game do things in this order and forget about farming and PvP for the moment.

1) Try out a few builds until you find the style that you enjoy... getting a toon to lvl 25-30 isn't hard with consistent teaming so do a few, villains as well as heroes. (this helps in pvp, ill come back to this later)

2) Pick 1 that calls to you, and go all the way to 50.

3) This will give you a feel and understanding for how to play your toon and what does and doesn't work.

4) Take your toon to zonal pvp, Sirens, Warburg or RV. (bloody bay not really worth it) just as a learning curve, don't expect to PwN!! anything.

5) The main reason for point 1 was to learn your opponents powers, you have to know more or less what your fighting, for example it would save embarrassing yourself, examples follow....

"lets see, i'm a controller and i think i'm going to try and use my holds on that there Superstrength/Willpower brute"

and this

"I'm a stalker, i think i will assassin strike that /devices blaster standing on caltrops and mines."

Both of these would be very bad and not result in a happy pvp experience. :P

Now, once you have learned all of the above and want to take your PvP to another level, you can refine your build with Invention Origins ...

Don't do this til you have done all the rest cause it's like trying to pull a 360 degree back flip on a BMX 5 mins after taking the stabilizers off.

To get the best IO's, you will need alot of money(influence)... and trust me I mean ALOT !

My PvP toon cost me 800,000,000 Inf. and that is by no means the most costly out there.

So.... to get enough to do this farming is used... its still hard work and you need to level another character to 50 designed purley for farming, this toon will be for nothing else.

But I'm sure all I have said up to now will get you at least a 12 month vet reward, so stop reading this and start learning the game from scratch.. Trust me it's worth it and you will make some great friends on the way.

Your more than welcome to contact me in game too, either on @Donna2 or @Donna

Goodluck x

Having a farming toon can help you create a good pvp toon. It wont however make you good at pvp.
My troller currently has a mix of sets, regular io's, procs and so's and i can hold my own against some players.
Better players steamroll me and would probably do so no matter how much inf i put on my build since they are better players.

Thx all for your comments, My mate hasnt got a farmer but is fully IOed due to joining farm teams. Could I do that?

I've hit 640million inf with a single toon just by doing TFs and regular missions. And no, it's not a fire/kin. Just sell your common recipes at NPCs and rare recipes/salvage above the average AH's price (yes above - wait a couple days and you got it sold) and you get yourself some good inf.
