X4: The Evolution - Full Rules
Tbh that DC rule sucks. There are issues with the test server build and some peoples PCs, resulting in almost regular DCs. This rule has, IMO, to be looked at and rethought. I understand the DCin could be used to try an force a rematch but I dont think its fair to penalised team due to the tech.
Otherwise, cheers for the clarification KS.
I agree with Nicky here, after personally seeing people regulary DC from test in fights, or even just stood in Atlas doing nothing. I understand it "could" be used to cheat, but I think you need to trust ppl on this, rather than assuming the worst.
That rule hasnt changed. Its just been made more clearer for you. It was also used in the S4 event
Regardless, what I said still stands. People have issues on test atm.
Fair enough if its 15 mins into the fight, carry on, but the amount of crashes, it just seems slightly unfair. I know it's a hard call, because some ppl might use it to their advantage, but on the honest ppl that genuinely do have Test issues.. Cant you say if it's in the 1st 10 minutes it's down to the Judge or Team Leaders?

We lost two of our players during the 20 min match. Has to be some kind of option for reset.

S4 wasn't 20 minute matches though so maybe it does want lifting up a bit, say double it to 4 minutes.
No more imo or no matter who you are and what team your in you "will" have a d/c if in the first 10 minutes you've been kicked around the map.
CoH PvP SG = SuperUnion - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
CoV PvP VG = Disruption - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
Global = @Rent & @Rent.

Well I have to disagree there, we gave the biggest kicking, infact I killed the entire team within 10 secs, they didnt have a single DC.

Agreed but perhaps they would of if they knew that after 8 minutes they could d/c and force a restart.
That was my point

CoV PvP VG = Disruption - Co-Leader - Union/Freedom
Global = @Rent & @Rent.

I see where your coming from, but tbh doubt it. I know for a fact none of my team would drop so low as to force a restart, for us this about player skill and fun. So win or lose we here to the death.
And really, if your getting kicked that bad after 8 mins, whats the point in a restart?
Its only worth it in an even match and you dont get a running score so cant be sure who is in the lead. So whats the point. I thought this whole thing was about getting some really good PvP going and to have fun at the same time. The fear of DCs n this rule IMO is counter to the original aims of the competition.

KS is the organiser, so it's his final decision, however just to throw my two cents in:
Having been involved in many competitions (from as small as a intra-clan RTS tournament to as large as the Guild Wars World Championships) it's an unfortunate fact that if you do not include a rule about disconnects it is likely that, eventually, someone will see that as an opportunity to take advantage and will do so. Hence why generally professionally run competitions contain strict rules about disconnects during matches. Unfortunately what happens more often than not is that players/teams that legitimately experience bad luck are the ones who end up suffering due to the rule put in place to remove temptation from anyone with a "win-at-any-cost" outlook.

Emergency Subs
In the case of the need for an emergency sub, you may not use a character that is taking part in X4 for another team. You may use the player on a different character, however, with the permission of the opposing team captain. You must in this event make the team captain of the opposing team aware that you wish to sub a player, who is taking part in X4 but on another character. Then also let a judge know and both team captains must confirm to the Judge that they have agreed the substitution.
[/ QUOTE ]
Just like to add.
Any emergency subs you pick up on an event night may not be used continuously as a sub unless they do not belong to another team and are not currently part of the event.
lol i've been on test for 5 minutes and i've crashed twice already, is there some massive issue with the current build on test?

LOL! Your joking, right? I've heard it's something to do with macros that makes it really unstable, once you reset all macros I didn't crash once, must be that.
Ah so you need better twitch gaming skills, okay.
[u] Rules Updated. [u]
Following last nights events The Judges and I felt a few rules clarifications and additions were needed.
Conceding
In light of some one-sided matches from the first weekend of play, we have elected to allow the option of an early surrender to losing teams. After 10 minutes of play if the team that is behind feels they can no longer continue, for whatever reasons, they can concede the match. If you wish to conceded, you must inform the opposing team in broadcast that you intend to concede the match. Once the team captain of the opposing team acknowledges your intention to concede, the match may then be exited early and the Judge will confirm the decision to concede.
Further, a winning team can concede a match in the same way if they so choose. I imagine this will only occur in the event of that team experiencing multiple disconnected charactersÂ…
Disconnections
If after the 2 minute rule a player disconnects for what ever reason, the remaining players must play on (see above "Conceding" rule for the only exception). If an entire team disconnects from the match before the allocated time is completed, the team remaining will win the fight by default. In this case, the score at that time will be ignored.
Tie-breaking Drawn Matches
In the event of a drawn match the teams involved shall be required to play a tie-breaker. [This occurred twice on the weekend]. In the event of a tie-breaker being required, the team captains have the option of agreeing to a reduced match duration of 10 minutes. In the event of such an agreement, both team captains must notify the Judge before the match commences.
