Promote the game and fight Cancer

As some of you may know, there's a badge hunter team working Rosetta@home. Rosetta@Home is a "distributed computing" program that might end up finding a cure for cancer by using spare processiong power on your computer. If you want to join that program, you will always find a link in my signature to our team.

Another similar project is folding@home. That project even has a special Nvidia version to use your graphic cards power to help out. Now there is a City of Heroes team for that as well. ID: 142938 and stats page at: this place

It doesn't cost anything to join, you may think it's fun, and it may turn out you'll be the one that end up saving millions of peoples life, while promoting this game by joining the right team!

Why am I doing this? For me it's personal. Two years ago my mother died in cancer. My grandmother died in cancer, my aunt is still fighting her cancer and my sister is pretty much expected to get cancer sooner or later. This is an easy and free way of doing something, and I personally find it rather fascinating.

I've been a part of the World Community Grid since 2003 now, folding proteins in search for various cures for diseases. Didn't know there was a badger team. Currently I'm on the Rosetta@Home and on the Human Proteome Folding Phase 2. Would be glad to join your team, if possible.

Hmm, when I make it into the top 25 on F@H,
I might switch some of my quad quad core boxes over to this.
If it has the same points rating as F@H, I can pump out 45,000 ppd.

Will the XP version run on Vista?

It does run on vista, but you have to install it as the administrator account, not just an account with admin rights. (unless they've updated the build recently)

Well, I'm running BOINC without problems (Rosetta@home) and the NVIDIA folder program for the other one (came with the latest cool and highly unstable drivers that implements PhysX for 8-series cards).

However, with the nvidia thingy, I basically have to restart the computer for it to be stable after doing some folding. I'm guessing the folding, using the nvidia card, is messing up the drivers badly!

Sounds interesting there is surely a lot of 'dead processor' time out there that could be used for better things.
