Dark/Fire/Weapon build thoughts

My aversion towards scrappers still continues, but I've been thinking about doing a Dark/Fire/Fire now that they're available. Pretty much considering combining a single target chainsaw build with the AoE and sillier-than-thou damage buffs that come naturally from the sets.

The endurance usage worries me a bit, but can't really bring it down much more, and don't know what I could switch for the other endurance gain power.. As usual, this is not a leveling build and the order of powers might not be the perfect one (haven't thought of exemplaring on this). More about set efficiency and thoughts if some power switches could benefit the chainsaw build more...

(oh and ignore the levels of the enhas, I know there aren't lv 53 inventions, my hero designer is just acting out again)

Mmmm I must be misunderstanding your meaning because I don't see any dmg bonuses from sets. Major flaws I see are low resistances and low regeneration. The end drain might be a problem, although doesn't seem too bad.

The DPS seems to look good though and the AoE looks covered with the proc in Blazing Aura. As yous Soul Drain only has 3 secs downtime, perhaps the Scirocco's proc in Blazing Aura would be good.

I find it a bit squishy for my taste, it will depend mainly on how fast can you get rid of foes with Soul Drain + Blazing Aura + Caltrops plus your cursos should never get far from healing flames.

I'd get rid of the Chance for build up on Soul Drain and would slot it with 4xScirocco's Dervish and 2x Touch of Death to increase accuracy and recovery, still you'd only have a 3.7 secs downtime on it. Instead of Acrobatics, once in the zillions inf range, I'd get Health and use some KB prot IO's reducing your end consumption and boosting your regeneration:

Looks like an interesting experiment, but I still think it feels a bit squishy, rather go Fire/DA.-

Switch your Impervious Skin for the 4 rez impervium armors. Gives you +recovery and +max end. Both useful to keep you going longer.

But as Nightmarer said, fire/da.
But then we are both /da fans... (3rd /da almost to 50 here)

Yeah, Healing Flames will be the thing keeping me alive. That and hopefully the ability to take out bad things nice and fast. I don't really know how /fire performs as a scrapper, with far less hitpoints than a tank, but I guess there's just one way to find out

I know what you mean, /DA is very rewarding but takes a lot of to lvl one up, I am no slowly working towards my Fire/DA but still not diving into it, my DM/DA's last adjustments are still too recent.

As I said, I think it can be an interesting idea, the more I think about it, the more I drool about the Soul Drain+Blazing Aura+Caltrops combo.

The only thing that prevents me of trying one is the huge amount of inf, I have too many expensive build running on atm

True, I guess there must be some way of providing a bit more resistance without loosing the +recharge, that 3 seconds only downtime on Soul Drain makes me cry of joy

I think perhaps the durability of a Fire scrapper is under estimated some with tough so damn early. Blazing Aura has no taunt in it neither so the world won't exactly want you dead.

Well, to entertain Shanny, here's the build with some more sense to the level of powers. It's still not a leveling build (and will never be because I tend to level my toons to 20 without fitness powers and respec the pool in), but closer to one.

And, switched swift to temperature protection for the added knockback resistance.

Just made a couple tweaks to improve your Acc and ToHit. 3 KB Prot IO's should be enough unless you want to PvP of course. Also tweaked Midnight Grasp, not worth slotting DM attacks for ToHitDebuff except Touch of Fear. Afraid lost a bit of dmg in Shadow Punch but its damage is so low that shouldn't be noticeable, boosted its acc instead, don't think the DPS will be that affected. There was also something bothering me, it was Dark Consumption, with Weave off (shouldn't make any difference imo) I don't think you need an end replenishment, if foes last that much to drain your blue bar, probably you will be faceplanted much earlier since this scrapped is based in fast damage, so got your swift back and got a Performance shifter chance for +end on Stamina, that should keep you covered for end (well, it allowed my DM/DA to keep on Dark Embrace, Murky Cloud, Obsidian Shield, Combat Jumping, Cloak of Darkness, Cloak of Fear, Oppressive Gloom, Tough and Weave, together with the Numina Unique, had to add a Miracle Unique when respecced in Death Shroud). I know you are losing some AoE damage by removing Dark Consumption, but the damage is pretty low and it almost a minute recharge anyway.

Also managed to improve resistances a bit the cheapest way.

I really like this buzzsaw idea, might be a nightmare to lvl up and get the inf, but this may become one of the most rewarding scrappers at lvl 50.

Task Force Commander, Freedom Phalanx Reserve, Portal Jockey and Atlas Medallion should be a must for this scrapper, should take him around 1700 HP plus the always welcome +end.

I work backwards on quick builds. Click all the priorities from tier 9 in my way to picking my first power so to lay it down faster.

I just looked at it now and looked at the attack chain and its not tight enough for me. If you lay the attacks down as they will roll, like you could with Sherksilvers there could be gaps.

I'd probably take the old slotting of Shadow Punch compared to the new one, and ditch Kismet from Combat Jumping to get SP back to 6-slotted. The accuracy boost (+91%, that's 2-3 accuracy SOs in every power IIRC) from Enhancement Sets should compensate for most of PvE situations well enough. And this won't be useful in PvP in any way.

The ToHit Debuff set enhancement in Midnight Grasp didn't have a ToHit Debuff component in it, it was purely endurance/recharge one. Something you don't find in damage sets. As said, Accuracy isn't an issue with the build and Damage in MG is capped thanks to the Purples in it, so slotting a accuracy/damage/recharge instead of a recharge/endurance is a bit wasteful. Also, brought back Dark Consumption for quick endurance backup if faced with something nasty that does end drain as /Fire isn't that huge on res(end drain)

Depends on the character with me. With this I think I checked what pool powers I needed first and then went on to see how many slots I had left for primary/secondary powers. And after that dropped some powers and took some others and repeated until got to the build that was meant for set bonus and power checking. Fine-tuning comes later

Solid 4-punch chain with Shadow Punch, Smite and Boxing (SP-Smite-SP-Box-..). But Boxing doesn't do wonders to the DPS so the actual ST chain I can see myself using will have SP, Smite, Midnight Grasp, Burn and Web 'Nade in it. And it should be quite good (with Healing Flames, Consumption and Soul Drain and stuff thrown in every now and again in real situations) With AoE it's pretty much Soul Drain, Healing Flames, Caltrops, Burn, Shuriken I guess. And if something still lives move to ST mode.

No but you can edit it to match the figures in your build. I think a true idea of what your attack chain should look like is something you can gain and I think that you can better it.

1 thing I notice immediately while looking at this build is... Dark consumption and not consume? Consume is a way better end regain power. Both powers have similar recharge and end regain/foe BUT consume has a radius of 20ft instead of DC's radius of 8ft.

Already thought about it, but then noticed in Mids that Dark Consumption is moderate damage and Consume is minor damage so I guessed Alvan is trading range for damage.

Actually, the main difference for me was (according to mids') that DC is 25% endurance/hit and Consume is 20% endurance/hit. I reasoned that at the point where I need endurance, I might have not that many enemies left to begin with. Most likely facing off a single enemy.

Hmmmm, I am pretty sure it showed 20% unless it was 25% after slotting or I recall uncorrectly. As far as I remember, the only two differences were the damage and the radius, will check again when back home.

Ooops, forgot about that one, DC is 1.03 activation and Consume is 2.03 secs, very true.

Still, I'm pretty sure I saw 20% both on Mids (didn't check Red Tomax). Again, I might be recalling wrongly (very possible) or there is a mistake somewhere.

Edit: Also the range was 10 feet in Mids for DC and 8 feet in Red Tomax, not that it'll make a difference, but I am bored and not in the mood to work yet

Assuming that weave isn't going to be running and it just there for the recharge I don't know if Consume would be required, Dark Consumption is better against a lower number of foes and the long fights you have tend to be against a lower number of foes (AVs) so I think the right choice has been made personally

MA/Elec would had been my 1st choice but I guess it would be too similar (to an extent) to my MA/Fire. If I keep my MA/FA and don't turn him into a DB/Fire will go MA/Elec, otherwise I'll stick to Dm/Elec
