Hey Kitty,
A few comments based on my experience with my NW.
- Hasten: I actually take it on most of my toons (especially if you have other +rechg powers), and SS with Mask Presence is very handy. Otherwise consider CJ to get that little extra +def. Also, it allows you to perma ML much earlier (and easier).
- Dart Burst: dropped it after a while. Cone is small, not really worth it imo. I found it more usful to take Mental Blast for a different dmg type and Spin for AoE dmg (also dropped Eviscerate after a while).
- Mask Presence: you lose 2/3 of the +def when you attack, so I wouldn't bother with too many slots.
- Mind Link: yes, it's that good. You can probably get a set bonus or 2 with better slotting (like 2 LotGs).
- TT: Assault: I'd take much earlier (and pool Assault is nice too, more useful than TT:Offensive imo)
- Elude: still useful in long fights vs Heroes (or as a travel power), even if you don't slot it.
- Smoke Grenade: meh.
- Build Up: I went for Follow Up instead for a "scrappier" approach. Different playstyle I guess, but you can easily stack it and with a Gaussian BU proc, you can have a nice sustained dmg buff.

My current build is something like this (IOs, but no purples and nothing too fancy in terms of uniques/specials) although I will probably change a couple of things when I respec (I'm considering taking Lunge and/or CJ instead of Veng and/or Placate). Went for a balance of +dmg and +rechg bonuses and also found that +regen works well with the build.

Hey guys thanks for the feedback. Sry Okt I totally forgot I started this thread until I saw Snow's post
My NW is effectively shelved for the moment for several reasons;
1) I had an awful time playing her over the weekend of the lag from hell and it's just left me with a bad (and probably unreasonable) impression of her I can't seem to shake just yet. and...
2) most importantly, I cant change the claws! I was kinda expecting to be able to have all the nice customisable and unlockable claws to play with instead of being stuck with the nasty stumpy little ones Widow's get. I rolled a claws/wp scrapper instead
3) This might sound weird but I kinda get the impression she's gonna be overpowered later on in her villiany career and that always puts me off a toon.
Your suggestions have been noted and will be considered should I ever dust her off though hopefully by then there will be more guides around too, which will help.

The claws extend for the attacks during animation - it's what makes them cool and why we can't have customisation options.
None of the other ones animate out like that.

I have just rolled my first VEAT and am planning for a Nightwidow.
I just wanted to ask 2 quick questions;
1) Can I get by without hasten? iirc (I don't have access to mids atm) You can make brain-link wotsit perma with just def/recharge IOs and set bonuses (thinking red fortune and crushing impact etc here). I love any toon that can get by without it (never been a fan of the silly flaming hands on every toon) and it would free up another power pick - as we know VEAT builds are TIIIIGHT!!
2) Travel power - or rather the lack of. Does anyone have any experience of just how annoying it is to do without a travel power on a widow? I was thinking with a couple of slots in swift and....that clone of quick reflexes alone with hurdle it might not be so bad? especially if I can skip hasten too, meaning I can drop superspeed (not my favourite CoV travel anyway).
Thought? suggestions? random abuse?
