Ice/ does have the highest ST damaage. But the damage is cold/lethal. Fire/ does all fire damage, but slightly less than Ice/, but Fire/ is less well resisted. So I think it may well be true that Fire/ would be better spike damage, due to half the Ice/ attack being highly resisted, but Ice/ actually does more on a target with no resistance.
Psi/ is another story...

It does?Afaik Blaze was the highest ST pvp blasters use no?188 dmg or something unenhanced?Although i think i am calculating the DoT in it too.

I presume the DoT from fire is consistant & all numbers are base damage at 50.

Yeh thanks. About what I thought. Argument ended up that DoT isnt counted for spike. I suppose thats down to opinion but I still think fire has the biggest [censored] spike in my experience.
Playing my wp brute I feel quite tough till a fire/em zones in lol. Then I feel very squishy very quickly. RUN!

Its debatable really.Even without DoT fire is higher spike imho due to the non lethal damage and the less chance to resist it.
About DoT.It counts in the spike as long as a)target's regen doesnt overcome DoT dps b) target cannot negate DoT.
With or without DoT tho Fire ftmfew
Are blaze and BIB about the same activation? Fire's a primary I've not really played but BIB seems way ahead of the other sets for DPA that I have tried

In maths according to Phil's figures Ice would cause the largest 'spike' in a Dmg/time graph though fires output would be consitantly higher also depending on how much DoT overlaps fire might also have a higher max point (thats kinda harder to work out but I probably could if your that intersted) but ice would still posses the greater positive change/time , all depends on what your defenition of 'spike dmg' is though.

In actual game fire is the highest spike even without calculating the DoT because everyone and his dog have smashing/lethal resistance in PvP.And cold has smashing damage element in its attack chain
If you start off with Blaze, DoT does count because there'll be time in between Blaze and the last attack of the chain.
Ice Blast was the better spiker before I9 due to Fire DoT being lower and Blaze's range being just 20' back then.

Very true, the point I was trying to make in my post earlier.
Had a friendly discussion in RV. And from what I can see in mids and through playing I have always thought fire/em was by far the highest spike damage from all the blaster sets.
Someone else argues that ice is better.
I am aware that ice is very good but i thought that was due to ice secondary effects rather than sheer spike damage?
Anyone got figures or opinions to resolve this argument?
