Hmmm, Machine-Klatsch (sp?) from Battle Angel Alita could be interesting (especially if you got the spinny arms too)

Or Sechster Angriff. Which is a martial art that requirs you to be in forward motion.

Point is... This is a truly realistic game so everything ingame should be reflecting real world things. <--note sarcasm.

ooops... Forgot to correct Gilmore.
Maschine Klatsch which is the art of matching your opponents chi and strike with rythm...ish... (If my memory is not all corrupted)

Wood form Do (or any of the other four forms, borrowing a page from the Akashic Brotherhood) or Stargazer's Kalindo (if you're more into the Lupine kind of life).

From the pedia of Wikis

[ QUOTE ]
Panzer Kunst seeks oneness between the senses and is commonly referred to as the strongest of the cyborg martial arts. It is especially effective at disabling and destroying larger opponents. It is revealed in Last Order that Panzer Kunst is the basis of many space martial arts.

[/ QUOTE ]

[ QUOTE ]
Maschine Klatsch ("Machine Clap" in German) is Jashugan's martial art. It is similar to the Panzer Kunst, but is considered weaker because its inherent machine-like movements and its heavy basis around rhythm make it extremely vulnerable to Einzug RĂ¼stungen, although a Maschine Klatsch master can defeat a practitioner of Panzer Kunst with effort.

[/ QUOTE ]

So yeah, it's a rhythmic cousin to Panzer Kunst (I got caught up in Jashugan's cool body).

Oh and Source

not all scrapper primaries are going to be martial arts, we could have electrical melee, which isnt martial arts at all,

[/ QUOTE ]
Oh please... Every punching set can be translated into some kind of martial art.
Even Electric Melee.
All you need is the mind of a RPer... Or some power gloves.

[/ QUOTE ]
i can't be more wrong.....

[/ QUOTE ]
Well I already knew that...

If you think inside the box too much you simply can't see the possibilites of life itself.
Translation...
The reason I said that Electric Melee can be seen as a martial arts set is because it uses punches. Martial arts is usually what? Cooking skills? Fishing kung fu powers?
No... Art of war, combat, fighting blablabla... BLABLA! And the most generic answer is *insert martial art form here* that includes both kicking and punching.(and throws)
Martial Artists are seen PUNCHING(remember this word) their foes...
Now what could this mean... Perhaps that as a martial artist that mastered *insert martial art form here* also have some power gloves that emits electricity, mutant with electric abilites, magical charms... Get the hint?

Think inside the box and see absolutely nothing since its dark.
Think outside the box and see clearer.
Any questions students?

Will also add this.
Ever read the manga GUNNM/Last Order? No?
Well it has so many martial art forms that it would make you blush at the obvious orgy.
Some are electromagnetic.
It got Tesla Style Karate(*cough*), Riderman Karate, Ahat Mastade, Robo Karate, Square Karate, Body Tune Karate, Panzer Kunst... Should I go on?
It's set in the future so it thinks outside the box.

uhmm, you are comparing fantasy with realism, not a good idea.
also, only an dummy would say such things, talk to a real martial artist and you get a backfire of your life....really

Chataris apears to be talking about fantasy, CoX is fantasy, I don't see a problem.

Also, calling someone a dummy, even indirectly, is against forum rules.

I really should do something about this signature.

Well some modern art is pretty sloppy like Street Fighting so ya never now =P

He got it right.
Its pretty much the base of how I can say Electric Melee can be seen as a martial art.
Fantasy. *rainbow motion with my hands* (or science fiction if you go tech route)

You know whats awkward? That you do not seem to understand that this game is fiction/fantasy/science fiction etc etc into oblivon...
Not once have I compared a fictional martial art to a real one... Mostly because I really do not know the names of the real ones(kung fu and tai quan... Do? Is the best I can do).

And me talk to a real martial artist? I have no such desire because I truly do not care about them. Have 0 interest in real martial arts. But sure... If you insist I could talk to my dear old father who has some basic knowledge in martial arts(no idea which one however...).
Ofcourse now you might say something along the lines of "then why are you talking about it then". Why? Because I am talking about FICTIONAL Martial Arts.
Which could translate into something like "Fictional Martial Arts for a fictional game/world."

Also...
If a martial artist where to use oh I dont know... Power gloves that emits electricity when fighting... does that mean he is no longer a martial artist?
[ QUOTE ]
martial art is knowing how to fight and using that what you learn at your advantage.

[/ QUOTE ]
And you were also the one that started saying that in a game a martial artist user should use real martial art in order to be called Martial Artist.(you did it by saying I was wrong about Electric Melee can be considered a martial art form)
Now a game is rarely realistic(if we talk about the fact that you most of the time have a HUD up and such), some have realistic physics, real people, real locations and real world items in them but... City of Heroes/Villains is not one of them.

So having something like realistic kung fu in a game where not much is realistic...
[ QUOTE ]
not a good idea.

[/ QUOTE ]
Sure it could work but it might produce a desire in the playerbase to add more realistic powers to the game. A game where you can throw fireballs.
