New SG idea.
Well I do have that new char who will be wanting a job soon, alas she's only about level ten right now but yea thats one peprson interested at least
I'm a bit confused, do we just play mishs as if we helping imaginary people, or we help fellow heroes who hire us?
Both, the later more preferable, of course. As plot monkeys the idea is to grab more people into it, an excuse so to speak, to join up with others to be helped into completing a job, or with others from that SG team. An IC reason on why to go battle GMs, etc.
I'm interested, got a few chars with a layer of dust gathering who need new lifestyles
I am the Blaster, I have filled the role of Tank, Controller and Defender
Sometimes all at once.
Union EU player! Pip pip, tally ho, top hats and tea etc etc
I'd be interested in this, although the character i have for it is only level 8 at the moment lol
Note to self: Finish assignments, get back to levelleing Ap.
It certainly could be interesting building an entire team dedicated to finding needful things etcetera. Just need to bully Ap into accepting help.
In your dreams, I'll still be there with all the days that never came.
And I'll be just a story.
That's ok, we're all stories in the end...
i have a 33 blaster in need of a job
In a perfect world we'd have other players calling in, but in my experience this seldom works so we'd have to create our own 'contracts'.
In a way it's no different than the other SGs who are invaded/have team members abducted/etc by NPCs, they create their own dillemas as RP events.
This would be no different.More of a different flavour than being a hero. Just like there is that RAPIER for soldier RP, this would be for the non heros who want to RP having powers and use them to make cash.
But if other players don't call us, we shouldn't be shy about calling other players and shuffle the sand box a bit instead of staying focused within ourselves.
Ah, when the novelty is still there, how grand the ideas are
Okay, I have manay characters - but within that murky pool are a couple of characters who are my 'bit part' characters - i.e. not Arctic Princess
They are also in my SG - Titan Vanguard. Therefore I'd love to extend a hand of coalition - the things the 'group' does aren't always strictly down the straight and narrow (even AP, who is a member and who works for the government doesn't always err on the side of convention, but she is a hero who would not kill as would the others).
Just to give an idea of the SG - it's basically me on the RP side of things, although my SG partner has allowed the clever (!) use of his characters as plot monkeys, reference points etc. Think of it as an SG full of plot monkeys and Arctic Princess. So, yes, I'd be up for a coalition.
Now RP-wise and availability - I'm irregular in many if not all senses of the word. I am also doing a spot of RP over on Defiant at the mo but that's mainly at the weekends. The recent Freak Out open RP thread has caught my attention so Kata is busy investigating that, but her colleagues can always be brought on to take down giant octopi, ancient gods, recover magical talismans and the like.
This is sorta what I was doing with Fans early on, but was too lazy to start an actual SG (REsponsiblity? My one weakness!) but I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes! After all, Hero's gotta eat
For all those interested contact me in-game and we can talk a bit more in-depth.

metas for hire
[/ QUOTE ]
It already exists and it's called HeroCorps. Not saying it as criticism, but rather because it would be an easy way to make it work; a sub-group within the HeroCorps organization.
But HeroCorps deals purley with governments on a large scalre doing good deeds and all that.
What Kanto is suggesting is a small group you hire by going into a grimy office in a less refutable part of time to get somthing done "Off teh record" that may or may no be morally grey.
Yeah, Hero Corps is a much different beast, they have Lawyers, strict rules and Corporate lines to tow! Sometimes you want people who'll get the job done, without too much paperwork beforehand.
Oh oh! I just remembered! One of the 'fronts' my SG has is as a delivery company. They don't claim to be the fastest in the City or anything even remotely 'super', just a normal delivery company who use motorcycle couriers and who operate out of Skyway City.
I will however, pending my pc not crashing and only working now at 3.30 in the morning, get in contact with Lea/Kanto2.
I'm not actually making a SG just yet, just tossing ideas.
Lea's been after people to hire in order to be helped in her job, but so far, other than Apercu, everyone's either a millionaire or quite content with their current job.
Though it snowballed from a simple 'this is what I do to earn the cash I spend' with Lea now I'm starting to ponder expanding the idea a bit further.
Not a team of heroes, not a team of mercs either, something in-between.
Something along the lines of a team of bodyguards, treasure hunters, monster stoppers, debt callers. In short, heroes for hire. Or actually, metas for hire.
It's all nice to have heroes saving the world, but for some people instead of hiring a team of explosive experts to take down a building perhaps hiring a meta who can do it single handedly would be cheaper and faster.
Something that was stolen, something that will, eventually, be found, but if by the cops or a hero then the items will be sent to court, months will pass before the items are returned as they will be part of the evidence. Instead, hire someone who will discretly find it, someone who can take down a whole gang by themselves even if it's a super powered gang.
A scientist who want to come close to the Ghost Ship to examine it's peculiar ectoplasm, someone who needs to be protected. A hero might do it, if they can get some free time in all their world saving. Or hire a meta who will do it instead.
This is the general idea, Metas For Hire. The idea is to be plot monkeys, someone who has to be payed but is reliable.
A few things I'd have to be anal about:
- It would *not* be a villain team (no killing, no direct unlawfulness, though shades of grey are welcome).
- No RP only characters, no three-weeks-after-being-created-and-still-level-1, no logged-only-to-RP-then-logged-off. I'd really want to have constants, familiar faces. It takes a long while to batter through the first ice and showing only once in a while or constant new characters doesn't allow for that.
- RP thy level, no levels 1 super duper extra amazing individuals. Sense of progression really helps.
- Word of honor is unbreakable in a informal business where there are no written contracts. One lives by one's reputation, and that reputation can't be tarnished as unreliable.
I would prefer high level characters, in all honesty, as I quite like doing things IC, but making new chars would be perfectly alright.
The idea is that Lea has too many contracts to take care of, as such she needs more people to take the overflow. So far she does a 70-30 split, her taking the 30%. There is no salary, it's a contract-per-contract pay, so the more is done, the more is paid. The RP cash is supplemented with influence at the rate of a thousand dollars/one million inf.
