Discussion: The Costume Collector
I say go for it o_o
I've seen some really good designs over the months I've been here, shame they just go with when the chars are forgotten or deleted.
Yeah, do it!!
I love searching the web to find other peoples'galleries of costumes, so another new one is good in my book.
You going to be judging these, Hates, or will you let browsers rate them for elevation to the mythical "Hall of Fame"?

The Militia - Protecting Paragon City through roleplaying since June 2006!
I think it's no secret by now I like the costume creator..
So yes! This'd be awesome!
I often spend a couple of hours when the missioning greys into monotony or the roleplay (which has picked up for me, recently, huzzah for redside roleplay!) is thin on the ground just tinkering with the character 'skinner' as I call it. I've often made costume ideas that looked really nice, only to lose them to the aethyr when my tinkering is over. Often the char skinner is the trigger for a great concept. Anyone who knew my first Hero, Ly'Shokan can tell you about the world beneath Paragon I created for his people.
I'd love to see him immortalised on your website, were you to put it into reality.

Well, I wouldn't know how to set up a voting system, so it'd be like, unless I snap your costume, you can nominate it to be featured and then I'll be like, "Hey, check out these awesome costumes. See this one? I think it's a classic and I think you'll agree, because..."
People would obviously have to accept that if you send something unoriginal, or looks like you've just hit the "Random" button, it wouldn't get 'featured'. But would probably find its way into another page on the site if it wasn't too bad.
I was going to use (WebEden.co.uk) SiteMaker for ease of editing and the instantly proffessional look, and I think you'd need PHP and MySQL to do voting, but if anyone did have an idea about how I could make a sort of "Hot or Not" system, that'd be pretty Hot.

Sounds like a cracking notion. Yes that costume creator is truly magnificent. Despite its vast scope, it is still ultimately limited, and it takes some creativity to come up with something thats stylish, unique or just plain awesome looking. I think it's a great idea Hates.
I'm in. I've got a couple of cossies that might be worth consideration.

Sounds interesting.
Most of my characters and costumes are online already- the "City of Icons" link in my sig- although it's a few months since I updated it so there's more than a dozen characters not on it...

Hey Folks.
You know me by many names... Hatesman, Hatesy, Ghosty, Archy, 'That Utter *******', 'Y'know that guy? Yeeeer, I'd like to smack that guy!' and lol!
One new moniker and website I'm pondering taking on is The Costume Collector.
Cos, I love the Character Creator, lots and lots. Admit it, it's the heart and soul of our thriving community, it's what gives this place the diversity it so richly bathes in. You could easily stage a fight between a Shuriken Throwing Robot-Pirate-Ninja and a Laser Spewing Spartan-Alien-Knight, what other games can boast that?
It's the best bit of the game. So much so infact, that I always wanted to do this website called which immortalized the best and most original creations in a hall of fame. Those costumes that perfectly do something totally new, or just look so classic and Marvel-Like they merge into the background, universe and mythos of the game.
So, the deal would be that it's sort of a Hall of Fame for Costumes, where the best of the best are stored and highlighted for Style, Originality and the ability to blend well with the Genre/Universe. Aswell as being a nod to any great character concepts attached to said costumes.
Good uses of Spandex, Themes, Colours, and Accessories can all add up into greatness and originality that frankly I feel should be shared and commended sometimes. The only things to consider would be whether people would be motivated to get invovled, and whether or not you want your ideas plastered all over a web page for other people to essentially pilfer and re-use in their designs.
Would you go for it?
Many Thanks!
P.s. This would be done as the character "The Costume Collector", the site being set in the game world, so it may well involve RP opportunities, interviews, maybe some creative Magazine Collaborations.
