Idea: The Costume Collector Website

Okay, I've been thinking about doing something like this for a while now... Essentially...

The Costume Collector

Would be a website/competition where great costumes and the characters that wear them are entered and then catalogued with distinctions for originality, style and feel. I'd add a little description maybe to point out what was nice in my opinion, but the costumes would be nominated by others.

We all know how amazingly diverse the Costume Creator is, but sometimes it takes a little more to create a great costume. I've always wanted to catalogue the awesome costumes that I see in City of Heroes so I can go back and get inspiration for new characters and costume slots.

You know the type I'm talking about, Costumes that you look at and could totally imagine in a Marvel/DC comic, or being a part of the CoH Universe. Something that the Devs should use for an NPC, infact, I've been inspired by that thread Rhino (I think it was Rhino) did featuring should-be NPC's because people like him can make little works of art in the engine. Great costumes can be rare when you consider how many Red/Orange/Black 'Flame' Pattern Fire Blasters with Spikey Hair you see running around.

I've often been complemented on my Costumes and I think the costume creator is the best part of City of Heroes. I'm a big fan of Customisation in an MMO, because they are Social games after all and... okay, I'll cut to the chase.

I wanted to grab some feedback to see how people felt about potentially having their hard work showcased for the community to marvel and probably gain inspiration from.

I wouldn't want to start this website up without a little enthusiasm, and I can understand if people would be defensive about keeping their designs to themselves. So, what do you, the Creative Board think?

I like this idea, especially as there are many great costumes with great stories behind them out there.

There should be both:

1. A way to save (and load) costumes from the in game costume creator.

2. An off line costume viewer (viewing only) tied to the CoX data files that could also load the above.

Basically like the right hand side of the login screen but with load costume file, rotate, zoom, emotes
and show weapon options...

Also the 'Print Screen' key could just save an image of the displayed character.

Edit: I have 30 characters and taking several screen-shots of each I find is a bit of a PITA.

I'm often complimented on my costume ideas and have been known to inspire ideas in others - Nemesis Extreme (Draxion) I'm looking at you. Also been the winner of several costume competitions under Atlas and once been given double the winning prize fund by an onlooker when I didn't win because they thought the costume was 100% better than the winner

I think the idea is great, i like to see great costumes - to the same degree that i hate to see bad ones. So quite alot then.
I love to participate and run costume competitions to see how other people are interpreted the use of the system. I know i end up with a 'style' that i use, and have favourite pieces. Go for it.

Just curious: What kind of website are you thinking? When I see this I imagine a kind of amihotornot setup, a site I detest, but with cossies it might be a nice idea. You can see which cossies get a high rating and you can see what other think about yours.
