If you haven't already, please send a petition to our support team.

In the meantime, it will be easier for people to assist if you provide further information:

* Do you use a wired or wireless connection? (Wireless connections can be affected by interference and result in game disconnections while leaving the rest of your internet appearing to work fine)

* Who is your ISP? (Your ISP may have a fault affecting CoH even if the rest of your internet appears to be working fine)

* Where (roughly) do you live? (It may be a fault with infrastructure in your region)

* Do you use a firewall? (It isn't unknown for a firewall to randomly decide it doesn't like a specific program despite having been happy with it for months)

Thanks for the reply GhostRaptor am currently in the process of recieve support help.

*I do have a t mobile mobile usb broadband internet connection i was hoping it was my location but after trying to play the game in 3 different areas (Work,Parents and own house) i still get the same 20-40 secs game time before experiencing lost connection to mapserver.

* Isp would be the T-mobile network

* Live North West Lancashire England

* I tried reconfiguring firewall and even stupidly turned it off but still no luck

Thanks Again

Do you have a wired connection you can try instead?

So you're playing over T-Mobiles' 3G network?

That, I'm afraid, is your problem. That thing is NOT designed for any more than web surfing and email; even streaming media over it is fraught with major lag. 3G networks just don't have the latency you need for a stable connection to something like an MMO. I strongly suggest you play one a proper wired ADSL or Cable connection.

And yet oddly I used to play CoH on dial-up quite happily.

Gotta love progress

Agree with FFM though, I've tried 3G connections too and I wouldn't use them for much more than browsing, they're not consistant enough for anything that needs a good steady connection.

I dont mean to be rude. but i have been playing this game for a nearly a year with no such problems!! and the dl rate on my modem is in excess of 1000kbps a sec and always has been. (when connected its HSPDA not 3G) I would love a wired connection where i live but it is simply not possible

Nah, that's not being rude. If it's been working for you in the past, that's fine; but I know these networks pretty well, and I can assure you, your past experience is very much the exception not the rule.

T-Mobile do all sorts of funny things with their data connections, and messing around with packets is one of the least of their crimes. They also randomly block ports one day, and have them open the next; and the same with different types of datagram. It's a nightmare, it really is. I can't even connect to IRC over it, but I can telnet fine...

Anyway, if you can, test on a wired connection first, to eliminate your connection as the cause of the problem.

Well i really dont have anywhere i can use a wired connection, i guess i could try my parents connection but i won;t be round there for a while so if it is this stupid modem any chance that it will go back to working as it once did as it going to seriously put a cog in my online gaming shenanigans

It *could* just be some localised interference; how's your signal strength? HSDPA is extremely sensitive to interference, and if it's dropping to 3G, or worse, GPRS, even for a split second, it'll bjork your connection.

If you're gaming from a laptop, try moving to another location, preferably to a different cell tower if you can.

Bar strength Similar to Mobile phone signal strength is at 4 bars. Yeah when HSPDA drops to 3g i get the dc (when i get dced first thing i do is check my connection light) but once HSDPA comes on i get whipped back to whats going on in the villainy world. This time it is showing a dc with my HSDPA light on Hopefully somethings interfering locally and it might just go away! If not Boohoo
