Pushing the base designer to its "limits"
[ QUOTE ]
I know lots of us base builders have played about with magic desks and even tried to get a magic doorway but i just thought these things are actually bugs in the designer rather than features and what happens once they fix these bugs..
I have seen some wonderful base designs with multi layer rooms using the magic desks and floating generators ect but if these bugs ever do get fixed what happens to said floading generator.
I have tried to refrain from using some of these wonderfull methods mainly due to my fears i have laid out above.
Am i rightly worrying about this too much or should i just use the editor to its limits?
[/ QUOTE ]i wouldn't say the floating it a bug, but the door one might be but either way it a risk at one own use
well i call it a bug but you must agree that the devs didnt intend it to be a common feature or tehy would have provided a much easier way of doing it than playing with magic desks for hours..
well the only thing i will say, if you do have that kind of stuff in your base and when they do base love take it out just in case SG go buh-bye
Ive kept my base more or less safe but so it wouldnt cause me too much grief maybe a little annoyance at the time ive spent being lost, but im sure there are some more extravagent designers more pain.
I'd love to see more people posting pictures of their bases on this side. (Mainly because I need more ideas. )

Anyone know how to put photos together ? umm..
Like how they do it on estate agent websites.
Be cool to do the whole 360 degree view and see other peoples bases
(could start off a whole 'Grand Designs SG Base thang')
Now I see what you were talkin about! Lookin' good Amy!
really nice and imaginitive base
Thelonious Monk
I'll get some photos of mine tomorrow, it's a two person SG (but filled with our alts and padded with the recent prestige grant). It's small but works pretty well for stylish batchelor pad lounging.
I get magic desks.... had quite a bit of fun with them a few nights ago and ended up with stacked databases.... four against one wall two above the others.
However what is a magic door and how do I create one?
Good place to look at this is:
Magic Doorways
If you want more practical advice or want to have a look at what posibilities there are; then try contacting someone in NHU (New Heroes Union) on Union inparticular the 'second floor'

Have fun but be weary of the Disclaimer:
Warning: Using this or any other base bug may corrupt your base, losing everything in it.
I've tried having a play with the majic desks but have had no luck at all. Could someone point me in the direction of a good guide please?
Preferably one that has big pictures and uses small words!

Until a couple of days ago I just could not get the magic desks to work reliably enough to attempt any stacking. Then I came across this post by Impish_Kat on the US forums. It's the most coherent post on the subject I've found and it doesn't leave you stranded in the middle unsure which way to go.
Using the rustic flattop is a bonus for the amateur stacker. Yes it's slower as it has a smaller footprint than the usual magic desk but as the desks don't need to be built into pyramids you're not left guessing if you started in the correct place.
Yay, cheers Cryonic, that worked great!

Thanks for that link, suddenly our base is stacked with stacked stuff and has a layer in it
I figured I'd share the stuff we've made (and the extent to which we've pushed the base designer) thanks to the link Cryonic posted.

Start there, I've added descriptions to take you on a tour through our base.
I have found that if you select the Rustic Flattop and with no buttons pressed just prior to placement you give it 9 (Yes NINE) right clicks then a left to place it becomes automagically magic.
Additional clicks work fine to rotate to face either north or east (draw handle side) allowing the full use of the top of said desk.
---
Removal tip: If you tip your view down below floor level to select and start dragging the desk prior to raising your view to deposit said desk in another room, you tend to avoid hitting/selecting your floated object and reducing the need to hit the 'ESC' key.
---
My hero SG has a small SG hologram directly under it's entrance portal, the SG logo appears inside the entrance portal vortex.
(I may place tech floor tiles around under it too.)
My villain SG has the arcane moving patterned floor circle under both the entrance portal and the arcane reclamator.
---
Note for reference: The nine clicks method works in the bottom right base corner too, as that is where my entrance portals are in both bases. (However your mileage may vary.)
