hi all,
Any advice on which patron powerpool to take ?
I was thinking Mace Mastery for the extra holds.
Anyone have any of these powers and can tell me which is best for me?
Thanks

I took Mace on my Bots/Dark to stack Web Cocoon with Petrifying Gaze so I could hold bosses. It works quite nicely, although it's somewhat annoying that you can't fully slot it until level 50...

Mace Mastery is generally the best PvP Patron Pool because of Web Envelope's -jump/-fly/-recharge effects, the +defence shield will also stack nicely with all the -tohit that /Dark MMs do.

The only other patron pool I'd really consider getting would be Mu Mastery for the Smashing/Lethal/Energy resistance shield (it also contains the only AoE immobilise MMs can get that prevents knockback, which is VERY useful for Robot/ MMs to keep foes in the Assault Bot's Burn missiles patch).

Mace sounds best to me too, thanks for reply!

Patron powers can be taken for a few reasons.

1) Concept. If your an undead soldier and with dark powers, then Soul Mastery would suit the concept. Ghost Widows stuff has some of the best animations of the lot and fits a dark concept best. Soul Storm is probably the coolest looking hold out there. Her shield stacks nicely with shadowfall and her cone immob looks awesome too, and will help greatly with keeping mobs at range while you fire from a distance.

2) PvP. Many people take Mace for pvp as it has the better shields and good secondary effects for pvp. For this see what maelwys said. Though you can only use patron powers in pvp in warburg (and who actually pvps in there?) and the arena.

3) What sounds/looks good. This can vary from player to player. Like the idea of mu lightning? drawing out an arachnos mace? making stuff float in the air? or having sharks do your bidding? pick on this choice.

Just remember, you can only choose your patron once.

You mean RV not warburg right lol?

Oops, yep my mistake. The devs forgot to label RV as a farmers only zone, or at least might as well have done.

xD i think the bots put people off, and easier for heroes to max out there chars with IOs so its harder for villains to PvP there

All patrons suck for Villains, even Devs admitted that. Although what Maelwys said, Mace is good for -jump -fly + hold which can work both pve and pvp. All other Patrons fail imo.

I took Mako, for no other reason than i liked him. The hold looks great and is pretty good to stack with my other hold and the cone immob is pretty decent filler power. The patrons are way to much like each other in my opinion.

There is one special difference with the patron powers vs. the epic sets of heroes. The Patron powers are different for each AT as they are designed to fill in the blanks... The patron powers you can pick will be those abilities youre AT will be weakest in. Therefore the right choice can be an invaluable power.
