Burn + Ice Patch works fine. It's not as awesome as you might want it to be, but it works fine. Ice Melee does indeed need more loving and atention from the devs. It's been debated over and over again in several posts, but devs seem to overlook it.
Me, I've always seen FA Tankers as killing machines. I'd rather build one for extreme damage by pairing FA with FM/SS/EM than relying on IcePatch+Burn combo as damage tool.

Hi, i've tried everysingle combo to tankers there is!.. and i have to say the whole, frost ice patch+burn combo rocks.. however if u where going for more damage.. the fire/fire or fire/energy should do it.. if u where going just for the damage absorb.. granite armour usually does the trick =] but to answer ur question fire/ice is fun =]
I have a fire/ice tank and he is great, is about the same as other tanks until you get SOs then you need to slot burn, build up and fiery embrace for recharge reduction,if you have hasten as well you can pretty much just use ice patch and burn on everything.
Don't need to pick every power from fire aura and ice melee which makes getting power pools like stamina easy.
fire/ice is a great damage migation for the lesser fire shields. Added that icepatch/burn is a indeed killer (BU/fiery embrace = ouch).
Great tanker and once u got icepatch/burn even a very nice solo set. In the old days fire/ice was the most common farmer.
I took fire/nrg, way to much single target and you only rely on the stun. Your end story will pretty much be ET/TF/ET/TF etc etc, other nrg powers are just not great on damage. You want good damage and nice damage absorb? Pick fire/SS instead of nrg.
Just that my fire/nrg has the 3 celebration badges, else i would have restarted that one ages ago to a fire/ice or fire/SS.

in the old days fire/fire was the most common farmer as the mobs didnt run from burn.
That is the ancient days 
Today it seems fire trollers took the throne.
(pretty lame brute patron has a AoE immobilize power...)

Was just wondering if Fiery Aura and Ice Melee would be an alright combo. Heard alot that Ice Melee stinks so I thought I would ask.
