Right. I've decided to roll one of these for teaming PvE

A quick play on the hero planner has me getting every power in the main sets, hover, fly and the epic (power).

I'd like to have the option of putting stamina in, or fitting some leadership.

Any suggestions/help?

TA/Archery is pretty end light (Emp Arrow excepted, it does a hefty dose of -recovery) so mine (which just hit 50 2 days ago, must change my sig) is staminaless. Combined with a large team this works out pretty well thanks to Vigilance, but if you're wanting leadership in there you'll need stamina, which would make things pretty tight powers wise if you're taking everything I'd have thought.

I skipped out on a few powers as mine is wholly team based, as you plan yours to be. I don't have Entangling arrow, Stunning shot, Aim or Ranged shot, but IMO you want everything from Trick, even though I'm considering dropping Poison Gas Arrow (but you'll need it at low level) and don't have entangling arrow

As mine is exclusively a flying character I also have Hover and Fly, along with Aid Self and Aid other and Swift for the +fly speed. I'd imagine if you drop the medicine pool then you should be able to fit everything in. As it's nearly all Lethal damage you have to wonder if it's worth taking Ranged shot as should you really be taking the first sjhot in a team, expecially when you're unlikely to actually 'arrest' the bad guy in question, and likely attract all sorts of aggro onto you? For Ancillary I picked power mastery, simply because I wanted Power Build up. It can add a hefty dose of Damage onto things like Rain of Arrows, and used in conjunction with Ice Arrow or Emp arrow can give a hold that lasts AGES.

They're a hell of a lot of fun, especially when oil slick lights properly (and I had my first long spate of it not lighting since i10 launched the other night. IMO it's better than it was before but still prone to long bouts of not lighting). As an added bonus, should you be able to work a Technology origin into your character you can use the inherent Taser to light it, which has faster activation than flaming arrow and a faster recharge in case you miss. Rain of Arrows is good, cos it's preety much spammable as much as you want.

Alot of the powers are 'placable' AoE's so you need to be pretty nifty with your mouse to get them in the best positions, but apart from that I loved mine to bits, and fully plan to continue playing her. The amount of chaos she can bring when in a large team is immense, but I wills ay she can't solo for toffee, especially if oil slick fails to light. Oil slick is half your damage potential, if it fails to light you're basically dead meat, although the knockdown still happens, lit or not.

Basically I can fit Stamina in if I don't take the leadership, but wont need it.

I can fight the leadership in if I don't take Stamina, but then will need Stamina.

Think it'll be stamina until I get some decent IO sets then respec

Why not stunning shot?

I thought entang arrow would be good for minus fly?

My TA/A is currently sat at lvl43 and have all the TA powers (except Entangling and Poison Gas Arrows) but only have 4 Archery attacks (Snap, Aimed, Blazing and RoA). Never felt the need to take any more from the Archery, as I don't see myself there to do damage...but can add to it with what I got.

Only taking a few secondary powers has allowed me to grab everything I wanted from the power pools: Leadership, Fitness, Flight and Hasten.

Went with Power Mastery for PBU for the same reasons as Miss_Chief and with 3 more power picks to go, will probably grab: Poison Gas Arrow, Temp Invuln and either Stunning Shot or Entangling Arrow.

Its an immensely fun set to play, but definetly makes the most out a well formed team...which can be hard sometimes.

Couple of questions:

- Flash isn't worth slotting right?

- Glue Arrow. Thinking of 3 recharge, 3 slows. 2 SO's would make it perma-ish Does it stack with itself?

- Same with acid arror. Or other suggested slottings?

- Same with Disruption Arrow (does it stack?).

- I can get all the primaries, Stamina, and all the epics. If I miss Aim, Exploding shot (not overly bothered by either of those) and Stunning Shot. What are peoples thoughts on stunning shot?

AFAIK pretty much anything doesn't stack, so there's little point on loading Disruptiona rrow with recharges for example, I think I have 2 or 3, but whilst they don't stack having them overlapping can only be a good thing. The same applies to Acid Arrow, AFAIK it doesn't stack either.

You could slot Glue arrow with a chance for smashing damage as I have, it can be a handy spike in damage when it's a non damage power.

Never tried stunning shot, can't comment, sorry.

I have flashing arrow 2 slotted with debuff IO's, not sure if it makes much of a difference, but I know it doesn't stack with itself either.

I've pretty much settled on that power set as well, althought I may switch Aim for Total Focus.

I have split powers up, not to be rude but to individually address, these are my thoughts, I wont be offended if ya disagree but I have had arguments with one of the best TAs out there, won on flash arrow, in a way lost on glue arrow, drew on acid arrow, owned on disruption, aww you get the pic! But never ever get perfect play out of a TA, teams play all kinds of ways and somethings are recharging when ya just didnt want them to.

01) --> Flash Arrow==> Rechg(1)

No need to recharge it imo, it doesnt self stack, you'd rarely need the recharge, I know a recharge has its moments especially even in PVP but imo the tohit debuff does beautiful things, people say its small and doesnt do anything but it does good things imo. Its not just a -perception tool. The tohit debuff effectively adds defence to the team, for some in the team its not much to write home about but for others who already have decent defense its an "oh momma". More psuedo def than Weave does (and people of some builds take weave finding the end cost worth it) but you give it for free and itll do things like offset the penalties of Unyielding on an Invuln which can be a major difference in survival for them at many a time. I would have atleast a tohit debuff right there.

02) --> Glue Arrow==> Rechg(2) Slow(3) Rechg(5) Rechg(9) Slow(42) Slow(43)

The slows are slows in duration, this way of slotting you can, after using it on one group use it on a second group and have 2 groups slowed like this (but normally the first group is defeated) its already slowed 90% run speed without slows so its just a "for how long?" slotting.

08) --> Poison Gas Arrow==> Rechg(8) EndRdx(9)

I actually love this arrow, 3 rechg SO atleast, sleeps make a longer 'choke' time but with sleeps the foes are easily woken up. Id need to prove the sleeps make a longer -dps time despite foes being woken to say more.

12) --> Acid Arrow==> Rechg(12) Acc(13) DefDeBuf(13) DefDeBuf(23) Acc(46)

Great for PVP or soloing imo, great in teams just a small AoE so tighter the mobs are for you the better. Often the best loved power for some TAs but those TAs probably solo more than those that best love somit else.

16) --> Ice Arrow==> Hold(16) Hold(17) Rechg(17) Slow(37) Rechg(37) Acc(46)

Forget slow, itll probably end up stacking for slowness with Glue anyway, Id 2 acc it atleast, in fact 2acc, 2 hold, 2 rechg is perfect for me.

18) --> Disruption Arrow==> Rechg(18) Rechg(19) EndRdx(25)

I love this power, I dont end slot it tho, I dont notice the end cost, the animation times are so long I have gained it back in end recovery 3 rechg SO is definate for me, I find it recharges just in time with each fight.

28) --> Ranged Shot==> Dmg(28) Dmg(33) Dmg(33) Rechg(37) Acc(43)

Id sooner stick a range is snap for pulling and get somit else, recharges of other attacks aint too shabby so this would be a pulling tool. Id pick somit else like haste for more debuffs and powers like oilslick over time, but your playing your toon, if ya love it keep it.

35) --> Entangling Arrow==> Acc(35)

2 accs, this is a smart power for TAs to take imo, immobs keeo foes ranged which means their attacks are less damaging, -fly keeps flying AVs floored so people can keep up the good work and say your the only defender in my team with one of my Tankies then to lower AV dps on my butt I may kite because you dont heal, and love you for this power.

41) --> Conserve Power==> Rechg(41) Rechg(42) Rechg(42)

And now at this point Id wonder what stamina is for, ingame I lay all debuffs, fight over, goto next group, lay all debuffs fight over, rarely needing to pop a blue whilst being staminaless due to end recovery over animation times. The attacks though make my endurance drop faster than anything else but i barely get a chance to attack as I am using my primaries but if ya attack alot then stamina is good saving on end slots.

47) --> Temp Invulnerability==> DmgRes(47) DmgRes(48) DmgRes(48) EndRdx(48) EndRdx(50)

Its not that bad for end, better TO end slot a commonly used attack that may use more endurance per second.

Sometimes the fight leaves someone maybe in need of some health I find aid other useful, it then removes downtime for that person or offers a greater chance for them in the next group. TA doesnt need a heal but I look at the damage Id offer in that downtime and compare to the damage that person in need of a bit of a heal and say my attacks aint quite making up for it plus healing badges dont just magically appear .

I tend to 3 recharge SO powers, its not about trying to stack, its about having a power available for each and every group.

My TA is stamina-less, but I have Conserve power, I find it useful to keep fighting after you've laid down your PBU'd Emp Arrow, so as not to drop your end too much. ONe thing I will say for TA/Archery, when I use Herostats with it I get the longest list of powers waiting to recharge than I've ever had on any toon. I've had the list stretch halfway down my screen sometimes!

Well that's nice...but gonna be very confusing to plan a build for from scratch :P

I went through various builds before settling on that one. If your going to build it from scratch i'd recommend reading the advice given previously in this thread. I have slotted gas arrow with 5 slots because i want the bonuses and the heal from sand man. Also its auto hit and can take most people out of Personal FF and drop toggles. I skipped flash arrow because i don't think its worth it, also there is the issue with mobs going for you if they aren't taunted. Fine if your going to flash and skip them but i tend to arrest everything when on teams. I skipped Rain of Arrows because every thing was dead by the time i got round to using it, plus enemies don't stay still and knockback is annoying. I took stealth and slotted combat jumping with stealth - another reason not to take flash. Stealth leads to phase shift which is extremely useful when everyone starts dieing around you. I took stamina late but at level 38 so i could still go in Warburg with it. Sustained firing of arrows does get you to 0 end eventually. I tried all the different travel powers in PvP and jump lets me go anywhere and keeps me still for the shortest time. All of my attacks are slotted with a chance to hold, which stacks nicely with Ice. Stun just in case anything is left.

It depends on what you want to do with a TA. I went for the build i have because i want to PvP. I tried out the leadership pool at one point and took flash arrow, manouvers and grant invis for maxing defense and tohit debuff. I didn't think it was very effective though. Assault is good for getting more damage out, affects the whole team and stacks with the debuffs. Leadership isn't so useful solo though and there is not alot of point in including it on a PvP build. Good if you plan on being on large PvE teams. I'll post more build advice later.

Large PvE teams is what I'm all about.

I'm having great fun at lev 8 with Glue, Poison, Flash and a couple of attacks.

I'm just having problems with slots, but I'm sort of sorted out (got loads for Vetren respecs if need be).

I might try and slip assault/tactics in, esp as I plan on being offenderish...

Seeing as I never use planners I'd need to have a look and maybe post a screenshot. I'm currently trying to find a better hold set for Ice arrow than the Paralytic I currently have, but can post a screenie no problem.

I keep forgetting! I'm slowly building up my Ghost Widows Embrace for ice Arrow and if I'm feeling really flash I might even consider the set for Emp Arrow too! Will get iec Arrow slotted up first then post my build.

I put 5 Ghost Widow IO's in ice arrow and one from Pace of the turtle for the slow component. Then even if they aren't held they are still slowed. Extra accuracy helps too.
