Taunt - autohit or not?

Autohit in pve as far is i know, there have however been a couple of occasions where ive been forced to ask that question, i.e fighting +4 mobs, and the fire blaster 2 levels above me seems to have a firm hold on that aggro no matter how much i spam taunts. but then that may be due to the aggro cap, i get lost in the moment sometimes ya know
Tanker taunt is autohit in PvE (note: kheldian taunt is not)
but there have been certain mobs that have displayed resistance to the taunt more than they should have. At least Malta gunslingers I know personally having kept aggro on a friend despite me spamming taunt with my tanker. I never bothered to come up with proper evidence or testing data though, as the situations were few and far between.
The only mobs I know of offhand that are virtually immune to taunt are the Banished Pantheon Masks and certain Rularuu... but I'm sure Gunslingers and some other mobs could resist it too.
I usually use Taunt to group a mob together rather than hold their aggro. If I'm herding more foes than can be bounced in the air with a single footstomp then I'm herding too many mobs. You get to the stage where you can roughly guess when you'll hit the aggro cap though... I'd only ever try to go beyond it in dire emergencies.
In those few cases playing Knockdown games and trying to "funnel" mobs is your only real option. You can try to only taunt the most dangerous mobs or trade-aggro between groups, but ultimately it's not a good situation.
i slot slot taunt with 1 ac just incase i meet anyonwe resis to it more then they should. over all i think its gonna be 1 acc 1 end red 2 taunt mainy as i have energy absorption n chilling embrace.

Just wondering, you can put acc in Taunt, but somewhere I seem to remember reading it's autohit. What's the situation with this?
