Best Partner for Ill/Storm

My first post.. hello

Mostly hubs and I play as a duo and his ill/storm troller was partnered with my ice/ice blaster, but we tried mine with his /kin defender and it rocks! So what would be a good partner for the troller? My main toon is a scrapper so I'd prefer not to play another one!

Thanks!

Hiya, welcome to the boards.

Scrapper isn't the best choice anyway due to the mess Illusion/storm makes, the poor scrappers tend to be running about after you.

I always liked teaming with a Dark/Dark defender, they have an AOE immob for holding things in your Freezing Rain and setting up Containment. And FR & Tar Patch is an evil combo. And they have a decent heal which works well with all the -defense storm does.

Plus nothing will hit you through Darkest Night and Hurricane.

I do love Dark Miasma though so I'm biased.

Due to chaotic nature of both Illusion and storm i say stay away from melee ATs. Maybe a blaster will be a good choice since your duo needs damage to easily clear mobs. But if you're looking for other options i advise a Rad/Sonic defender. And you will have everything you'll need. Damage, tanking ability of PA, heal, rez, -acc, -dam, -res and recovery from AM.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll try out dark/dark as I haven't made a dark char yet. Although I do like the sound of the rad/sonic... choices choices... it's not as if I don't have altitis as it is!

Knightly has a good point with AM too, Illusion/Storm is bloody tiring

And Rad works as well as Dark with PAs since they're both Debuff sets.

Sorry I didn't realize of your post earlier. I have a lvl 37 dark/dark in Union and it is a great fun toon to play. Having said that, I also rolled a Dark/Sonic in Defiant currently at lvl 5, although it is too early to judge, the -res from tar patch combined with the continuous -res from Sonic attacks looks extremely promising, I'd recommend you one each. Besides these solo decently.
Also it could be a good option for duoing with an ill/storm to roll an earth/rad troller, with stone cages and quicksand you will keep foes locked for your team mate to unleash the fury of the storm and with your rad secondary you will debilitate the defenses of the foes so the PA can get rid of them easier, hence I'd recommend you another one. I have an earth/rad at lvl 22 and it is also great fun in teams, downside is that his soloing sucks (but he has a cool moustache and that always counts).

Welcome to the forum I have been playing an ill.storm troller (dinged 50 last night ) with an ice/rad troller. Works really well with freezing rain and ice patch together. They duo fine and are great in teams

Hope he has fun with the ill/storm , its probably the best troller set I have done yet

Well I made a dark/dark which I am loving! Just have to get it through the teens which are just the most boring for me to see how it works out. But I am sort of fancying the earth/rad troller now. Good job I deleted a bunch I didn't fancy recently and started on a new bunch so I can try it out! LOL!

Congrats on the 50 Diddy_Ninja! If I hadn't had altitis I may have had one by now! But my scrapper is now 40 so not so far off!

I have both a dark/dark and an earth/rad, the only problem is that both are soooo fun that I don't know which one to log.
Earth/rad is great fun on teams but sucks soloing (still at lvl 25, maybe improves later with stoney), dark/dark is more balanced imo, great on teams and good soloer (so far at lvl 37).

Hi,
My Earth/Kin troller is playing duo with The_mastermind an Ill/Strom and the result is awesome. We clear 120 minutes timmed missions in less than 10 minutes. The combo of his cahotic powers and my crowd control and buffs/debuffs is quite good.

Indeed he will improve at 32. Before Pet my earth/kin was unnable to kill a single foe (well yes, but it is extremely slow and boring).
