Dark/Sonic is an awesome combo.....got one to the mid 20s before deleting it (but only because I already had a Dark Def and Dark Corr....too much of a good thing), but during the time I played it....it would blitz everything it came too.

Also, if you have any questions about Ice/Cold Corrs....fire them this way, Ice/Cold was my first villain and my first villain to 50...loved every minute of it.

*Shameless plug....check the guide in my sig *

Also Rad/Sonic, i deleted him on mid-20s too. But as i have a Sonic Blaster i can say that having Sonic Attack on a defender is a waste of a good set. If you really like the sonic side roll a blaster.

(OMG end is near. I am encrouging people to make blasters.)

Hehe,

Already had that guide copied, pasted and saved

Hey, I'm back!

My subscription ran out on the 6 month mark and I thought it had been paid, but it turns out I reactivated my American account rather than the EU one. How embarassing . Anywho it is now sorted out.

I shall be able to play again (remind me of the times please). However I got bored with Obsidian Sabre as his character was a bit bland so I've created a new one.

Gloom Cavalier is his name, a DM/Invincibility scrapper

Welcome back

Team is currently lvl 22ish, except Quantum Field who's still lvl 18

Maybe you noticed between my and nightmarer's chatting, we get a break 'till the end of the invasion. But i have 2 toons to help you level up. One is lvl 8 and one is lvl 14 atm. Feel free to shout if you need help.

Cool, well after a bit of experimentation at lower levels I finally settled on Gloom Cavalier. I will be on later and if I see you on global, maybe we can team.

[shameless self publicity mode on:]

If you are going the DM way, I suggest you to take a look at my brand new post in Scrappers Section about DM/SR scrappers and maybe I can lure you into creating the untouchable scrapper, a DM/SR.

[shameless self publicity mode off]

Edit: And welcome back btw

Hehe thanks but the Invincibility is something I know and enjoy from Cerulean Warrior. Also it fits the whole Cavalier feel more. However I will check out your guide for slotting of Dark Melee attacks however.

Posted

Mmmm, feel free, however I wouldn't slot DM atatcks the way I did on that thread having Invulnerability, I'd go for Crushing Impact sets all the way in DM attacks for an Inv (except a Multi-Strike in Shadow Maul).-

Btw, it is not a guide, I am not that skilled (and doubt I wil ever be) to write guides

By the way rather annoyingly I will probably be away from 11th-18th of August so will miss meetings that week.

Also I am not sure whether I will go with Gloom Cavalier. I will certainly not delete him but over the course of tomorrow I will experiment some more. I'm not so keen on DM, its seems unsatisfying to be honest. I will probably end up remaking Ministry of Defence, but instead of War Mace/Fire having Ice Armour/Fire attack.

Tbh, I personally don't see much synergy on DM/Inv, well, Invincibility gives certain defense, but it is mainly for compensating the -def from Unyielding. The other power from the set which gives you a certain amount of defense is Tough Hide, but is a passive, so you're not taking full advantage of the best DM feature, the ToHitDebuff unless you stack it with other powers that give defense, such as Weave and/or Maneuvers and why not, CJ plus at high levels add some more defense through set bonuses. In my humble opinion, DM performs best with SR, that's why I suggested it to you earlier. DM has lots of advantages besides dmg, which takes a bit longer to kick in than in other sets. For Invulnerability, I'd rather go the Katana or the Martial Arts way.

Your Katana/DA seemed a fun toon to play, although DA is a late set and imho the most difficult to handle, I'd never recommend it for a first scrapper (don't know if that was the case). On the other hand, a first grip to DA would be easier with a low endurance consuming set such as Claws.

If you are really up for a scraper, I'd recommend you to try any of the following:

1.- DM/SR
2.- Kat/Inv
3.- Claws/DA

As we're taking a break this week, if you want to try any of them this weekend, give me a shout since I have a couple lowbies in Union and we can team so you can experience for yourself.-

Maybe you should try another AT. For me Scrappers getting dull after some point. All you have to do is keep pressing same buttons and hope to kill things before they can kill you (same applies for blasters, if not for sound fx of Sonic Attack i can never play a blaster).

We have a good team and it will carry all builds with grace. So i can only advice you to take your time and find a hero you enjoy the play. As V6: Silver Team is aiming to lvl 50 this will be a long trip.

Also in general as we all have some degree of altisis, maybe in future we can start a new V6 team on Defiant. I have one more project i want to make but not now. I have enought hero to lvl up at the moment.

Posted

I am up for anything in Defiant, I have some lowbies there who need some love and now, as the Controller Megateam seems ta be dismantled, I have Wednesdays available

Posted

Okay, as i have so much heroes for lvling as i said, maybe we can do something like that.

What do you say after Invasion if we team up 3 days of the week? Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For two or three weeks.

Also if Forceward reach lvl 14 by the weekend we can do Caverns Trial.

Posted

Mmmm, if I manage to get Big Bad Leroy Brown at lvl 12 before Sunday (shouldn't be a problem, he's 11), he's got recall friend and superior invisibility, so I guess we could do the Trial quite easily

Btw, you don't need to be 14, the Cavern of Trascendence caps at 14, but you can do it at 12 iirc.

I wouldn't mind to team Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but bear in mind that doing that will make more noticeable when someone has RL issues and can't join.-

Posted

Cap is 15, and i need to be lvl 14 for invisibility. This is a defender not Illusion troller ^^. And again i choose Grant Invisibility instead of Stealth. But as you have a hero to ghost i can gladly join with Psy-knight whose need that badge still.

I hope i can find nice people to complete this one as that mission is a real pain in behind at that levels.

For 3 day teaming, i don't think that will make a great difference as leveling pace truns into a snail's after 30, they will have plenty time to catch us. And also keep TFs in mind.

EDIT= Oh for getting to lvl 12 you can join us tonight. Forceward is lvl 10 and will get Frostfire tonight. I am sure you will get one level in that mission.

Posted

Coolest, I also have Frostie on Big Bad Leroy, it is outlvld though (just 1 level down). Plus I also have spelunker on him if you want the badge.-

I think I have found a toon I am going to use. I went back to my favourite archetype - Blasters. Having already got significantally levelled Fire and Ice, I went to the only other Primary I like: Sonic. The secondaries for blasters are generally a non-entity for me, besides Build Up, except for Devices which isn't great for a team based toon. So I went Electricity.

Unwittingly I have the same powersets as Devil's Chant but oh well, she's basically Sonic/Powerpools. Anyway Pop-singer-come-movie star-come-super hero Scarlett Siren is born.

She's level 5 already and tomorrow I hope to get her into her teens so hopefully she can do CoT at the weekend with you guys.

Heh no worries, it is nice set after all.

One thing you might want to know, i passed Shockwave in Devil's Chant's build but if you will solo get it. It can be your only damage mig. tool.

Give me a shout tonight and i can sk you in my frostfire mission. Raptor isn't needed as Forceward is an utility hero he has Recall Friend.

Posted

I probably won't go for shockwave, not keen on Knockback and more importantly I can't find a space for it in the build. Also she will have Maneuvers, Tactics and Assault by the mid 20's.

Hopefully I'll team with you tonight.

Ah well, a friend of mine hit 50, that made me happy, so I decided to accept that some people are just idiots and it is their problem, not mine.
Looking forward for V6 teaming again. I deleted the kin so I won't be able to ghost Karsis (but I re-rolled him again as an ill/rad, so should be ready in a few weeks).
For now, I want just to concentrate in Agent Magnum.-

Woohoo! Anywho it looks like I am back with Obsidian Sabre, really enjoying his newly boosted powers. The money from the fairy wings are sure useful . As I said before I won't be able to team between 11-19th, as I am on holiday.

Posted

Obsidian Sabre was your Kat/DA? if so, I think you do well keeping him for regular teaming, Katana is a fun set and DA will be later on, hence your best bet is to use the toon on a regular team to ensure steady lvling. Bear in mind that I9 sets, specially the +recovery ones, make DA scrappers far more playable and the KB protection ones will allow you to choose any power if you don't want Super Jump, since once you got the KB prot IO's you won't need Acrobatics.-

I am looking forward for our next training session too...
Tonight maybe?

If you want you can gather but i won't be around. Let's keep optimistic spirit and say for 10 days. I downloaded DDO trial and want to explore its content for 10 days. If it won't satisfy my desires i can come back before. But if it caught the spirit of D&D i'll be around 'till the 27th August than i will say my farewell to Paragon City possibly.

Cheers.
