Empath's in Union PvP Zones

Nothing wrong with playing to your strengths but I wouldn't class running to a ship when being attacked sensible. Everyone seems to do it and would be one of the issues I would say there is with pvp.

I always find it funny when certain blasters run to the ship at first sign of being attacked but then complain about elude, especially when they are /em.
You really shouldnt let people put you off PvP because they think being foul-mouthed on broadcast someway justifies their loss. Best bet is just to ignore them I find.
I've never seen Octavian Vanguard in Warburg, but then admittedly, I'm not about so much myself nowadays. If they don't like PvPing in zones maybe we could get some arena arranged
Also, I don't believe that Villains are as drastically underpowered compared to heroes as some people like to think, but I'll leave that for another day.

I wouldn't class standing around and getting defeated as sensible.

In the situations we're talking about it's team vs team - if you hang about when you've clearly been called as the target you're going to get defeated, especially as a squishy defender.
I can understand why it's frustrating though, but come on who doesn't run away when they're in trouble?
I had an MM attacking me yesterday, where he send in his pets, as soon as I found him and targeted him he would start tp'ing away, phase shift, I still got him a few times though, as soon as he slipped up. I don't see anything wrong with this playstyle even though it was quite annoying on the receiving end.
I can't think, of the top of my head, of any PvP games where you don't expect people to run away when they're in trouble. There is a difference when it's just prolonging the inevitable (for example; in counterstrike the last CT hiding in a corner when the bomb is ticking down), but I don't think that's the case here.

Almost all my play time in Warburg is spent trying to move fights away from the beach, which I hate. It totally kills the zone having everyone hanging around there in my opinion, which is why it's my least favourite zone to PvP in.
I have no earthly idea why the people who whine the loudest about heroes running to the boat, always go straight to the hero beach the minute they get in zone.
Silly, if you ask me. The zone is much better when the play is spread around it.

IMO, they must remove the safe zone. And instead, make an indoor (like hospital) safe zone. PvP will disable from the character for some minutes, so i bet most will be bored to run again and not be able to pvp for 2-3 mins. I was really annoyed yesterday with a brute who was like in and out, in and out from the safe zone. BU, out of the safe area, ET and TF and back again. Its getting boring, not only for the player who does it, but for the player who is trying to pvp.
[Edit]
Its different to run away to save your life. And its different to run at the safe zone to save your life. IMO anyway.

That's true.
Staying alive is a major part in PvP, specially if you are solo. But then again, staying alive is illegal these days on Union, you HAVE to stand toe to toe with a brute, if you don't, you're a unskilled PvP n00b. [/sarcasm]

Damnit!
The only problem i've had in PvP zones with my empath other than griefing, being 'primary' target and pestered for buffs is being asked to 1 vs 1 a stalker when i have 2 attacks and not very good ones
Heroes: Phobos-, Protector-Bot, Shadow of Ra, Bionic Eye, Entropic Chaos, Strike-Freedom.
Villains: Necron Phobos, Khorne-Berzerker, Full Metal Panic, Smasher Devourer, Degrees Kelvin.

I'll duel you empath on my stalker, but no running/flying/tping/jumping away allowed, no insps allowed and... err.., no auras allowed
Ah, now, when it comes to challenges, I think this one is the funniest, this isn't made up, the only thing I changed was the name. I'm sure Bimble won't mind me posting this one, I've blanked out the other name in the interest of not getting my wrists slapped.
03-16-2007 16:32:08 [Broadcast]Random Stalker: Go to RV
03-16-2007 16:32:30 [Broadcast]Random Stalker: where really people fight not noobs
03-16-2007 16:32:34 [Broadcast]Bimble: why, when there are stalkers to bash here?
03-16-2007 16:33:31 [Broadcast]Random Stalker: Bimble one on 1 hand to hand combat then no kenetics
03-16-2007 16:34:03 [Broadcast]Bimble: i wont use kinetics if you dont use your primary powers
03-16-2007 16:34:11 [Broadcast]Random Stalker: done
03-16-2007 16:34:45 [Broadcast]Bimble: no attacks then? cool
03-16-2007 16:35:10 [Broadcast]Random Stalker: but u r a troller
03-16-2007 16:35:17 [Broadcast]Bimble: nope, defender
I was there, but I'm told he went quiet after that. He never showed up for the duel either.
Where are the logs? Some conversations I've had in RV were so hillarious and worth to be kept
Whenever im in PvP I tend to ignore the abusive comments people broadcast and if they are directed to me my usual come back (dependant on situation) is "Go email the devs; and give me a marking out of 10 how much attention they give you" Harsh maybe, but its better than insulting people and renforces my view of PvP is what it is - obey it or leave.
In regards to the empath situation - whenever I see one on a team, I make it a point to remove them asap since being a stalker their CM buff is leathal as many of you know - but I enjoy this as it makes PvP a bit more 3D so to speak.
Wha? I enjoy attacking teams with empaths on while playing my stalker. OFC the empath becomes primary target, but even then its always funny to attack the tank sometimes, just for the laugh

Sorry if wasn't clear but thats what I meant. Running is a valid tactic (except in duels i.e. running to safe zone when you know you gonna die). However running to a safe zone where you mostly protected (can still get some eh psydock ) is just annoying. Again wrong to give grief but I don't have any sympathy for them.

Well, thank you for telling us what is and isn't allowed. :P
One minor point, I wouldn't want you to inadvertantly mislead people, when you say "them" you make it sound like something you guys don't do. Really, lets be honest, when not in the safety of a nice big heavily buff orientated team, a lot of your guys will be seen haring (OK, technically, crawling I suppose would be more accurate if they've a couple of kinetics after them) back to the safe zone and popping inspirations like sweeties.
At least I'm honest about how I play. It's just sensible. Much like the heavies in RV, I'm not actually a big fan, but while they're there, and other people are using it, I will too. It's be silly not too.
Really seriously though, you don't see us much in Warburg lately because we don't like the huddle on the beach. I went in there again last night and it was the usual hodge podge of tankers, scrappers, brutes and stalkers on the same predictable corner of the beach, half of 'em attempting to duel no doubt although I tend not to stop and look too closely. If people used the zone a bit better then you wouldn't get the things that the main "pvpers" (and I don't include us, we're not a PvP supergroup, we just do a bit of zone PvP for a laugh, some more than others I'll admit) seen to hate. If you don't like it, do something about it. You really, honestly, don't have to go to the beach, there is no ice cream van I promise.
I once saw an empath use a travel power . . . wth

No wonder why i couldn't find it
Lol the safe zone is way to far and out of reach. The haring as you describe it will be people going in an opposite direction to you guys. As stated above there is a large difference between running (or trying) and just legging it to safe zone. Im sure everyone has done it but you find those that seem to live on the boat. Besides don't think I have said what is and what isn't allowed. As far as I am concerned only thing you can't do is grief.
Also its not always on the beach (although majority I think can all agree it is). I have had several nights where running around all over the shop. Infact had a great stand off fighting for the carpark (that was one hell of a nite guys ). The problem with fighting else where is probably the mobs put a lot of people off who haven't quite hit 50. I think it is also alot easier to find the action, when it is else where people struggle to find it (although I would say its more to do with npc mobs). Going a bit off topic now, ummm emps ruin zone pvp with there buffing and running away :P.

Dont forget that warburg safe zone only applies to people of same side. Villains can kill heroes freely within the ship 'safe' zone.. If they avoid the drones.

To Dark Blasphemy, logs are -> Program Files->Cityofheroes->Logs. And from there you can see the logs, dates etc.
Yes, I noticed.
Although out of two deaths in PvP zones last night, that one was not a patch on the stupidity of the first one. Not even close.
