Defence through Domination

first post

so hello to the community first of all.
been reading a lot of your posts , now its time to post myself, i need to abuse some wisdom here

i played an infinite amount of chars to about .... lvl 15.

now i know that to be a common problem in this game ^^

but it was just a matter of time to find the right one. and now i have him.

stone/elec

i will give you a quick concept of how i would like to play the char and i would like you to give me some feedback on it

i love the dominator abilities but dont want to be a squishie. i love the SMASH! but i prefer to have defence by control instead of a thick armor.

so i want to build a brute using "fault" "tremor" as ae controls and all the single target attacks + "Air sup." for single target control.

not slotting a single dam enhancement but rather end reduc / acc / recharge

goal is to have mobs near perma conditioned. great in group and solo conditions.

together with the end recov. abilities from /elec and stamina this build
(in theory) looks great to me.

as said before, please give me any advise you have on this.

im also unsure about the power pools.

if i take speed , i could fit flurry in my attack chain to build fury , hasten is always useful and superspeed i hope stacks with lightning reflexes.

as i take AS i might also pick up fly for vertical.

or drop AS and go for leaping. with hurdle , combat jump (and the speedrun )i should cover all travel needs.

i dropped aid for lack of levels...
plus , if the build worls as intented i should hopefully get by with a few green insp.

looking forward to your comments

Flurry doesn't really build Fury. It would be a waste in my opinion. Fury would tick once when activated, then drop 2 to 3 ticks during the course of the animation. It's the same with Shadowmaul in Dark Melee (except Shadowmaul has better damage and is a cone for a chance to hit more than 1 enemy).

I would keep AS, it's a great attack by itself.

Other than that, I must say, while it sounds good in theory for total lockdown like that, it will somewhat hurt your fury. Fury builds by both your attacks, and attacks made against you.

There were many a times where as a Brute, I just didn't like teaming with Dominators because my damage sucked in the process.

I'm wondering if perhaps a Dark Melee Stalker would work best for you. Great damage when you need to, and good control when scrapping it out after the alpha strike. Pair it with Ninjutsu for Caltrops and Blinding Powder and all that, and it's essentially the same thing without hurting the Primary Functionality of it.

Z;_=_`+H>B*O

its very unrefined but i think it should do what your asking, i have left out IO slotting as that depends on personal preference and availability (plus if you even want to bother with IO's)
i diddnt place a travel power as it looks prety easy to get from A-B without on an EA brute, and gives you great combat mobility, (you could loose swift for SS though)

i threw boxing (but you could take AS) into that build because despite slotting alot of end recharge reductions in there it may be nice to have a fast low end attack. you wont build fury from taking hits on a toon like this so you need to generate as much as possible for your self. and antidote in case you wanted medicine after all.

the most losable powers from this build are swift, boxing and antidote, to help you get what you want from your build.
you could loose build up, but i would want to keep it on a stone brute even if you are after a burly controller, it will help verses ACC debuffs or vengeance.

use them to throw in aid self, lightening field or even tough but that is against your concept really.

anyway your key powers are fault and tremor, between though your can control mods long enough to kill em quite safely

Spot on. don't take flurry... unless you love the animation i suppose. there are many better options

thanks for all the quick and helpful answers.

while it is true that it will be difficult to build up fury, i think, if it works as planned, that the damage will come slower but safer, making it an overall solid build.

it will take a good while to lvl i guess but i will post again once i get to late 20s.

again, thanks for your feedback. will drop flurry ,take boxing and try out a few more advices given.

see you ingame

Don't pick boxing, pick the first stone attack.

Same dmg, same chance for disorient, faster animation (half a second!), LOOKS COOLER.

It's a great power to build fury, especially for you as you'll get most of your fury from your own attacks.

but 1.5 seconds more recharge, making up for the animation, i would prefer it for a fury builder... up to personal preference i suppose, though stone fists could tempt me if i wanted to slot another attack. with slots i would possibly prefer stone fists (it has a tad more damage).

experiment, find the build that works best for you

Thing is, with Hasten and LR it's mostly irrelevant. That's 90% recharge buff right there, boxing will recharge in 1,2s and stone fists in 2s.

Add the animation to that, and you have 2,3s against 2,5s. Not that much of a difference.

Then you factor other attacks, and stone fist gets really better, because it fits well into the chain. Stone fist, Stone mallet, Stone fist, Heavy Mallet, Stone fist, Stone mallet, Stone fist, Seismic Smash is a non-stop ST attack chain, 8 attacks in only 7 seconds.

With boxing, you'd take 2 more seconds to do the same chain. Less fury, less damage.

fair point, the numbers don't lie . i couldn't find an attack chain planner on mids builder, perhaps it is still worth keeping my other planner.

i have officially changed my mind, go with stone fists... unless you want to take tough

came up with this here. not having haste i needed a filler attack , even having stone fists.
air superiority seemed the best here for recharge, kb and dropping flyers.

the IO must be looking noobish i tried to slot for long time consistence , not so much for burst damage.
still trying to find out if more recharges in fault/ tremor are worth it.
ae control could be kept up nearly constantly in the best case. ( although until now, faults disorient doesnt seem to hit a lot )

I tried the same thing a while back and its loads of fun
As for building fury slower, just pump the rep up if its too easy.
