AS does mostly unresistable damage ; if an AS only took half of your health, chances are the stalker who attacked you forgot to use Build Up, or wasn't slotted with SOs yet.
You can't build enough defense/resistance, even with IOs, to survive against any decent PVPer, let alone a team. Your best bet is to pick Hurdle + CJ, SS + SJ, and to keep moving so you won't get hit to start with.

Yup, i cant count the number of times some stalker has made a tell or broadcast along the lines of "ARRRRGH! WILL YOU PLEASE STOP BOUNCING, YOU FREAK!"
Of course that wont help you *tank*, but they will tend to chase any squishy that appears... for a while anyway.
And what do you plan to take agro with? No taunt? I presume as this is in the PvP and Arena section you mean for PvP/arena? Stick to tanking with a tank imo

ok iv come to realise a controller cant exactly resist an AS, but what about normal *i say normal but they still superpowered 
* attacks from other ATs? Would the difference in those attacks be noticeable?

As an ill/rad, your strength lies in debuffs, mezzes, invis and pet damage. Don't bother with trying to build defence.

I guess a fire/kin could probably make a reasonable stab at it in pve but in pvp you would need provoke ( and a lot of BFs/purple/orange/green pills) - or I guess empathy as until you drop its going to be very hard to take the others down, having said that I did end up tanking Bobcat on my Mind troller at one point lol - she was 4 levels below me however.

No.
Just to recapitulate: SI, Weave and Hover all offer defense with only Weave having more than miniscule amounts of it. Even when stacked and slotted to the max they won´t dent a PvPer´s accuracy.
Tough has some resistance to Smashing and Lethal damage, but there are by far harder shells to crack out there and many of the more dangerous attacks won´t be mainly smashing/lethal anyway.
In short: PvPers will hit you. Hard. Don´t try tanking with your troller. Harrass them. It achieves almost the same effect but with less risk to yourself and more fun hands down.
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
Like the title says , is it possible to make a controller able to "tank" for short periods of time in the pvp aspects??? Got an ill/rad at lvl 29 currently, dmg and end isnt an issue at present as i have good end recovery and dmg is very high against other pvpers *due to PA mostly i will admit :P*, however i wanna know is it possible if i fully slot SI + Weave + Hover + Tough with IO's to be able to withstand an early onslaught by say an AS for example? *btw endurance wouldnt be an issue as iv already figured the end red i would need to make it worthwhile :P*
Just tried it in sirens defence wise, had SI + Hover + cryonite armour + wedding band all active and the AS only took just under half my health, would this be the same once im fully slotted without the temps?
