Vista and CoH
I aint using a flat panel. I got a feeling my hz/res aint working for CoX, will try some things out.
K and S
This just isnt working, not for any reason it seems, other than its chosen not to. Those things didnt seem to do much at all. Im not being an idiot, I am using the right drivers etc. The only other thing I can think of is uninstalling.. But it defies sense, because it worked without these ATI 7.4's. Just with borked graphics.
Shall I reel off a full DXDiag assement thing? Will show specs etc in more detail than I know about..
S and K
EDIT: As promised. I deleted some thing to save space and for ease of reading, if you need them please ask.

To be honest I have not got a clue what the majority of the DXdiag stuff gone on about (and I suspect I don't want to know). I don't know if support will be able to help you as they have folk who are experts at this sort of thing. I for some don't have a clue what's preventing you from entering the game now.
Hmm.. Have you installed DirectX9.0c on that machine yet? Although CoH is an OpenGL game, it DOES use DirectDraw for the interface, and possibly doesn't like DX10 (It's known to not be 100% backwards compatible). I can't be certain as the first thing I did was install DX9.0c on my system.
I recommend you download it from MS and install it, it won't harm Vista in the slightest and is in fact needed for some games.

A small query your saying youre not using a TFT monitor have you tried setting your desktop to the refresh rate your seeing, thats to say the 85Mhz
If the monitors an old one it may not have that refresh rate on it?
Other than that FFM the resident Vista Guru seems to have the other angles covered
Yes, its defo working at 85hz, the game should support that right? I tried at 60hz and it didnt work either. This guy on the USA forums seems to have the same issue.
USA Boards
If anyone has a US account, could you pm him to find how he solved it? Or post a thread in their Tech section for me?
I am sure I am not the only one who thinks on paper this should be working.. I just dont know why its not.
Ill try setting res to match res again..
But I'll tell ya now it wont work..
K and S
/edit: Ok we tried matching the Res/Ref rates to the CoH ones via tweak CoH, hell we even lowered both value too see if it might work, yet still no luck.
We also tried with Omega drivers earlier, they worked, but gave the same borked brightness etc as the default drivers had given, think they were XP ones.
S and K
Have you tried Safe Mode yet? This will drop the game to minimum graphics settings and resolution. Also, have you tried installing DirectX9.0c yet?

Im pretty busy now till end of the week. But I will as soon as possible.
K and S
I have the exact same problem... with the borked graphics.. Didn't do the 'tweaks' to get stuck at the loading banner...
Interesting to see if a cure comes up...
Will do the DirectX 9.0-thing now... Will I have to reload # 10 after?
Well, the DX9-thing didn't work for me either... Was just an 'upgrade' of my current DirectX (10), so I don't know what good it did, really...
Anyway, isn't it time for the developers to fix this..?

Unfortunately, CoH isn't supported in Vista so it's highly unlikely there will be any specific Vista patches.

Well, that was nice to know... And here I was buying a new computer just for this game.. haha... well, then. What a waste of money.. (The game, that is. The computer will come in handy in Wow or something similar then...)
Cheers!
FWIW, CoH works perfectly under Vista on my PC. Given it's a new one, are you sure you've downloaded the latest video drivers? The ones that come preinstalled are only basic ones. If it's an ATI card, the Catalyst 7.6's came out a few days ago.

Heya guys.
Back after a busy week.
Righto I recieved the following message from GG (thanks GG!).
Here's a PM I got about it:
"Judging from the thread on the Euro boards it looks like the person has not installing updated driver or they think they have installed but have reverted back to the old ones. Make sure all the drivers get uninstalled, make sure when he does that he is not connected to the internet so vista cant redownload more of the microsoft version of the drivers. He might want to do the uninstall from inside the device manager. I know with some hardware they give an option to delete any previous drivers so windows will have nothing to revert back to. Also the message about the drivers not being updated on login may or may not go away but should not be what determines what drivers are installed. Have him to check the date of the drivers on the hardware that is installed."
I am gonna try this now. How can I make sure that all previous drivers are uninstalled? Some people reported adware with Driver Cleaner so Im slightly suspicious. FFM are you using the new 7.4's?
If someone could provide me with a step by step guide to the above, I would be most most most grateful.
Thanks for the continued help.
Krunch/Savant
I was using the 7.4's up until earlier this week, when the 7.6's came out. These seem stable for me so far.

I think

Same here...
I have a Nvidia something, and when I downloaded the latest from their site the game actually said I had older routines than before... weird, huh?
Did this ever get sorted? I've just upgraded and now have a lovely fast PC with Vista...which is great, sadly I'm getting the "loading screen" crash too, tried all that was suggested to the OP but no success =( I get the loading screen with the taskbar still sitting there and then get a crash stating the problem is with ATIOGLXX.dll
@SkullFester
I'm not changing this signature until I'm proclaimed 'King of the World'.
I think your problems is the Hz - 85Hhz is (I think) applicable to a CRT monitor but not a flat panel one. Providing you are using a CRT then 85Hz for the Windows display should be fine. As for CoH try using TweakCoH to set your display (for test purposes only) to the bag standard default of 1024x768 and at the same refresh rate as your windows desktop.
Now if that does not work try going back into TweakCoH and take the tick out of "fullscreen" so you run the game in a window on the desktop - again just to prove it works.
