Does teaming have a negative effect on rep? Even if it did it would have to be pretty severe since you get more kills teamed than solo.
Some joker in SC who seemed to think he would be far better off without a team. Then again, the same guy seemed to think xp was spread out in pve as well.

Rep is shared amongst team members who are in range at the time of the kill. There is no bonus for teaming which seems a little odd.

Its definitely better to get rep when solo, as long as your character is suitable for the task. More often than not my rep is going down instead of rising if I do only couple sessions per week and always in team.

Dont forget that the rep suppression also functions if someone else in your team gets a kill, your rep is also suppressed for that target..

For instance youre teamed with one person, you defeat one player, both of you get 0.5 rep but the rep is now suppressed for that player for both of you.. If you had been soloing both of you could have gotten 1 point of rep if you both defeated the target player in turns..

Think it took me maybe couple weeks solo pvping in sirens to get Captain skyfire the 400 rep badge. I of course dont take freebie kills even if offered.

I think the reason rep and xp is less in teams is because you earn it faster. Certainly against lots of teams your rep in PvP will go up fast but there is rarely more than one team on in most zones. Meaning you'll be defeating the same players repeatably so it won't count unless you leave enough time between getting a member of that team. With less people, soloing is faster depending on your AT and powers.

Yes, you will gain more rep in teams only in theory. In practise the rep gains are really low in teams because there arent enough opponents.

If you're on Union and high enough level then RV on a Thursday night can be pretty good for rep. There are usually some experienced PvPers on both sides so you've got a good chance of picking up a bonus as well as the usual 1 rep point.

Generally I find rep gain quickest playing solo, or in a 2-3 person team. Larger teams don't necessarily equate to more rep. Also, you gain more rep if you zone hop because you don't constantly find yourself going against the same people.

Certain character types have no need to team in SC and RV, and will probably gain more rep not teaming in certain circumstances. Defiance using blasters (especially with invis) or stalkers can do better for themselves from a rep point of view trailing a team and just coming out to hit stuff that's on low-mid health when it's already been pretty much incapacitated. Their burst damage output is going to give them a good chance at least of getting the last shot. You do see a few people doing this with no interest in teaming at all. I tend to just move away and leave them to fend for themselves, there's nothing to stop them doing it, but I find it a bit cheeky - particularly when they turn round and ask to be buffed.

I believe it's scaled rather than 'spread out', but the effect's the same. Mind you int teams of 7+ (I think) you get a bonus to team xp which may offset the drop due to number of people.
