Black Scorpion's pet Toxic Tarantula.

I felt like having a new toy, so I 'specced in Black Scorpions pet Toxic Tarantula for my Dominator.

Now this thing can be summoned for 4 minutes, and has a recharge of around 15 iirc? I think I have it available maybe every 10-12 mins with Hasten running here & there.

It doesn't seem to shine much in those 4 minutes at all .

It's very fragile and mobs easily tear it's legs off one by one and stamp on it . It struck me that, damn, this Patron pet I only have limited use of pet is actually waaaaay WORSE than my own pet I pretty much have unlimited access to.

The very short duration and very long recharge on this seems vastly disporptioniate to the performance the pet gives and I'm not impressed. I know, heeeeey, what am I expecting? An RV Heavy.... ?

Shame because I like the defence shield and the debuffs from Posionous Ray are great. I'll probably drop this and take Fling Thorns or Thorntrops back.

Any further thoughts on the Toxic Tarantula pet? Am I missing something, lol.

Yup, the downtime on those pets is a joke

I have recently picked up the TT with my fire Dom. The recharge is long admittedly, but can be shortened substantially with slotting and hasten. I have aid other which I find very handy keeping my TT alive (and my imps) if I'm solo. Of course, I only really use the TT when I'm up against a boss/EB, in those situations they come in very handy.

I haven't had him long, and once I've used it for a bit longer I might change my mind, but at the moment I'm very pleased.

(If you think the dom patron pets suck, give the brute ones a try )

Yep, I've been tending to my Plant pet with Aid Other and loving care for some time .

I think that what irks me most is the downtime doesn't account for itself at all by the actual performance of the pet. A long recharge paid off by a short duration but positive impact pet I would be happy with, and then be happy to deliberate on when to summon it.

Forget Parton powers altogether. Why Bother... unless they get 'Fixed' from their current incarnation then I won't touch them with a 20' barge pole.

The pet is the only Black Scorpion patron item I have a problem with, and it's less of a problem than more of a bit of an underwhelming dissapointment. I think the duration/recharge should be amended. I really can't see any unbalance it having much more available.

My other two Patron choices I'm happy with.

The Scorpion Shield gives me a nice, noticeable defense buff.

The Poisonous Ray kicks out a very nice -def and -res debuff. Used with Aim and also when Dominations running I can chain some much nicer damage out of it and it's great vs Bosses, EBs, AVs, and other players .

I saw the Tarantula in action. It preferred range but that's only because everything was controlled (the Dom was a Mind/Nrg/Mace, so the Tarantula didn't get any hits to get the melee mood) so the damage first wasn't too great. However, in melee the Tarantula infact had an attack chain, and I could see it as a great help against an EB. Their squishy nature (those pets are freakishly squishy comparing to that recharge time) means that they get eaten in melee aswell, so it's probably a good idea to pick Aid Other instead of Stimulant if you had ever gone that route.

Check ut City of Data for more information.

Well, Sirroccos pet rocks, and with recharge reductions slotted (and hasten) I have it up about 50% of the time.

I really should do something about this signature.
