Not familiar with electric melee, tried a build with tough & aid self in it, didnt look right with all the basic attacks past lv 40 .

If ur soloing, Id take aid self. Its meant to be numerically superior than tough, but if u have a healer that u like to team with, u both might find tough better suited. I think electric melee has alot of inbuild damage mitigation from the knockdown disorient, and end drain; but being a bit tougher or having healing should make the journey less "bumpy".

Lightening clap tends to get a bad rap for doing knockback and putting mobs out of your AoE radius, but its a good defensive power to try to stay standing a little longer; and also has its uses in PvP, Ive found its SS counterpart "hand clap" useful against stalkers in hide and controllers but not particularly effective against anyone with high resist to disorient. Id rather have an area disorient than a single target one like "stun" from energy melee.

Step aside and let the master of Elec brutes in ^_^
but oh well hes not here so ill have to do hehe

Ok my elec/elec brute has just hit 40 and i gotta say they rule. Its the one power set ive played where at 32 i feel as though my character is POWERFUL. WHat you will find is as soon as you hit 32 with your brute you will run through missions like theres no tomorrow your AoE damage will be enormous to the extent that with a full rage bar build up and a few red inpiration you can kill all the minions in a mob with just lightning rod.
But good slotting is the key. End wise untill you hit 20 yo will struggle but when you hit 35 you will never worry about endurance again. Power Sink on its own is more than capable of keeping you on a full bar if you remember to use it, 6 slotted with 3 end mod and 3 recharge.
Aid self is totally optional, ive recently taken it and tbh i was probably doing better without but i like to PvP so its kinda needed. Grab Charged Brawl, havoc Punch and Thunder Strike as soon as you can, personally i ignored Jacobs Ladder because its animation takes a bit long and its cone effect is pathetic imo. Get Hasten and Build Up in your early 20s get every armor power /elec offers and slot em with 3 damage reductions each also the toggles will need an end recustion in till u get power sink then feel free to respec them out as yo simply wont need em. Similarly with attacks the only attack i have an end reduction in now since i grabbed power sink is thunder strike and im thinking of replacing that with a recharge red :P

For real lastability you might want to try and squeese tought and aid self in but tbh you can sap bosses down to no end in two power sinks and keep him there with attacks.
Lightning field is a dodgy one, i find myself wanting to take it but unable to find the space so for now its stayign where it is untill possibly in the patron powers ill take it instead of a pet.

do u need stam in an elec/elec brute set?

Indeed! i'm a lvl 25 brute elec/elec. stamina keeps me going on those missions where the time to light up a cig, just doesnt happen imo

grounded or lightning clap?

Grounded or Lightning Clap what?

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Posted

you should get both, from the feedback I've got from a sg mate.

Grounded is more of a priority though, IMO. Though lightning clap can be handy for getting Aid Self off if you take it.

Definatly grounded as a power. Tried to respec out the Fitness pool on my 41 Elec/Elec and using Conserve Power instead , disaster and Stamina is back in the build again.

Lightning field not so useful if you solo a lot but does help in groups for keeping agro more on you.

Conserve power is a great power but you can't replace stamina with it.

In PvE yes, in PvP no. My 43 em/elec dont got stamina, he got conserve and power sink instead, saves pool powers. Hes unbeatable in duels, but his end just dont work in PvE

completely depends on your build. Ive slotted for sap in my attacks 2 acc 2 dmg 2 end mod in havoc and chain induction as they do the most sap and 2 acc 3 dmg and 1 end mod in charged brawl.

I recently respeced out of stamina and had a similar problem to the General but now i have gotten used to it i find i dont need stamina.

The problem with a staminaless build for elec/elec is good management of power sink and conserve power. Hasten becomes a must otherwise power sink wont be up often enough to help out while hasten is down thats when you use conserve power. Also a respec is a must because untill you get power sink you will need stamina, theres no two ways about it.

As far as Lightning Clap is concerned id say its the most expendable power in the set next to taunt, closely followed by jaccobs ladder.

If you are worried about how long you will last in a protracted fight without stamina let me put it this way.

The EB on the Christmass mission (snaptooth if i remeber right) i can kill solo withoutusing power surge and never run out of endurance simply by using power sink. Also with my build slotted the way it is i can sap EBs down to 0 end and keep them there which makes all the differance against heavy hitters with big lethal or smashing or even Psi damage types.

Just a cautionary word though dont ever expect to sap a AV or Hero to 0 lol even that being said a 6 slotted power sink does make a noticable dent in their end level it just doesnt stay that way long hehe

You won't need to though.

The way my Elec/Elec Brute is set up, if I get down to low stamina, I click Conserve Power and no matter how quickly I attack, my endurance just keeps going up.

The only powers I haven't taken on my Elec/Elec Brute are Taunt, Lightning Clap, and Lightning Field. I have no use for any of them.

The only Power Pools I took are Flight (just because it's my favourite travel power and for concept reasons) and Fitness.

Swift + Lightning Reflexes = a very, very quick moving character, just in case you need to run away.

I found that I 'had' to put the difficulty up just to get any sort of challenege out of the game. I'm at the point where I can one shot yellow mobs using Build Up and Lightning Rod.

Next up is Power Surge, mmm, tasty boss deaths
