Stone Melee Brute
Anyone? 13 views and no reply......
well my stone/stoine brute is awesome super stong n super at deenmces
Stone/Stone is good for PvE (especially if you've a Kin) simply because of Granite Armour. It's a bit squishy at times leading to Granite, but Granite itself is the saving grace of the set, along with Earth's Embrace and to a lesser degree, Rooted. But you will move veeeery slowly.
Stone/Elec probably has MUCH better potential in PvP, has +Recovery powers and a self +spd +recharge buff, but no self heal.
As Extremus says Stone Armour in the 38+ game is just awesome at pve, you can take on just about anything and survive(exceptin psi hehe), and if you remember your a brute your ok, but at pvp no chance too slow.
On the way to 38 you're ok but no cigar, even 3 slotted your def's only as good as a basic unslotted tank, but you do kill things faster, lots fatser in fact, after 38 your world changes and you will see its all being worth it.
Mine made 50 some time back now, and I enjoyed every minuite of it. Found I respec'd at 41 with the freespec to get rid of Crystals and Minerals so i could maximise the build for brute tankin, as it's one of the few builds in cov that can tank well in pve.
Have Fun
Thanks to all that have replyed. I'm starting to sway towards stone/stone. Two more things though. First of all does anyone have any recommended builds and secondly, does anyone have any ideas on how to beat my friends stone/stone tanker in Warburg as a brute? Elec would seem to be the way to go being able to drain endurance but stone would increase srvivability. Again all help appreciated.
Hi m8,
I can give you my post-GA build for a lvl44, but this build won't help U now :-(

My personal experience with SA :
* ur travel speed must be TP, from lvl16 U get rooted (ur mez protection and health +regen), but no more running, jumping, flying for U when this power is on
* I went for almost all secondaries be4 Granite (except stone skin, took this l8r to cap S/L on GA), the other powers are good imho (careful with Mudpots, very end hungry)
* I added tough at lvl 24 if I recall correct on my first build
* take care of your kinetic friends and they'll do the same for You :-)
* a Stone brute without Speedboost is just a rock standing, a stone brute with speedboost ROCKS (especially when U go into GA)
My personal experience with SM :
* It's slow and end hungry, but does good damage :-)
Hope this can help ya a 'lil :-)

Rooted is the mutt's nuts, I've run my Stone/Stone on Ruthless/Relentless from 16 onwards using just Rooted and Health for most missions, with the def shields only being turned on in emergencies and in large teams - and that's including EBs. Sure, Granite is arguably the jewel of /Stone (less useful for a Stone Brute in everyday situations due to the -Dam component) but it's very far from being the "saving grace".
But you will have to get used to moving very slowly until you have 3 SOs in Swift, and even TPing in battle. You will learn to hate maps with uneven floors, and anyone with the ability to jump. (That said, I have Rooted bound to the 4th button on my mouse, and you get a feel for switching it on and off between mobs after no time.)

Can anyone help me decide which secondary to go for with my primary, stone melee? I'm trying to decide between Stone/ Stone armour and Stone/ Electrical Armour. All help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance
