Controller vs. Trick Arrow

Just curious if Trick Arrow is just a "controller wannabe" or if the debuffs are good enough to make you wanna try TA out. (don't execute me for asking) I have done one of these and she is kinda fun to play, but I just wonder how good the debuffs really are. (I suppose that buffs and debuffs should be the reason to create a defender. If it's holds and stuff I want I should make a controller.) If we compare it to a radiation def or any other type... My question is kinda out in the blue... Just want ppls opinion on TA. Is she worth keeping or not...

Controller wannabe? .naw
ITs more Controller-ish. With Damage thrown in.
As a defender its harder to play (mostly due to other players, and if you decide to solo before you obtain oil slick arrow)
And as a controller its a significant boost to the controlling primary powers.

In my opinion is worth keeping!...but my opinion is swayed, i love the set
(from a Trick Arrow / Defender point of view)
(any helpfull at all? ..or just random jibberish?)

While I think trick arrow slowly becomes a pretty nice set I'm still convinced it's more of a controller set than something for defenders. Yes it does have a few debuffs, but they are all underpowered if you compare them to other defender sets. and all the controls (slows, holds, etc.) work better for a controller.

It does compliment the controler primarys better imo.

The debuff values are low compared to other defenders sets so for controllers they must be even lower still! There are reasons for the debuffs being less, primarily because they are low endurance, single click and MASSIVE! Apart from acid arrow, the aoe debuffs are huge areas, easily 2-3 times the coverage of rad/dark. Several of them stick to the mobs once they leave the area as well.

TA and Archery were made to go together. You have to view your TA/A as part controller, part defender, part blaster and not as a "substandard defender."

I have a TA defender and I tried a Grav/TA controller. I think i prefer the defender because you can concentrate on firing debuffs into a nicely herded group while the rest of your team wipes them out. Makes for fast levelling.
Its pretty useless for soloing though.

An advantage with trick archery is that your debuffs require no anchor, they do have a maximum duration but you can renew debuffs almost immediately after they drop, not quite perma but almost but for a typical fight duration they should be more than long enough.

It should be a controller primary IMO, its just got that much control in it, I have a level 50 fire/TA and I love it, various autohits, massive slows, a single person heal and an awesome top tier aoe hold and and drain that has no -acc in it like controller aoes holds (-20%) and it lasts for a base of 30 seconds and 60 second hold when slotted. TA is a much overlooked set in all aspects though I personally prefer it as a controller primary

With my ICE/TA basicaly you hold debuff then let your pet/aniciallry powers do massive debuffed containment damage.

Hm, lots of comments, still not much wiser But I think I will try to play my defender a few more lvls and see what I think, before I consider making her a troller. =) Thanks for your opinions!

I would give it until at least SO's, preferably longer. I found both my TA's to shine around the high 20s point, once your debuffs become permanent and you have oil slick slotted up a bit.

A TA/A would really bloom in the late 30s once you have enough spare slots to flesh out your blasts and have Aim and Rain.

MY lowbie TA/A seems to have 'soft' control. So far I'm getting the most satisfying feeling of a useful power gained every coulpe of levels, with new tricks to add to an ever growing arsenal and some decent blasts... on the other hand I have always thought that a controler that could trigger containment by teeing it up with a secondary would be ... rude.

That is true, Trick arrow gets much much stronger when you can slot in some single origin enhancments,
I dont beleive i have ever missed hitting a target after applying acid arrow + SOs

And oil slick arrow doesnt shine when its slotted with SOs, it Burns!

My controller Illusion/TA is a damage monster.

I really should do something about this signature.
