Is PvP for me?

Is PvP good for a casual player or do you need to be dedicated with a regular group of friends?

Is it a good idea to hang around the arena at a certain time to see if you can get involved?

Is PvP poular at very early levs 4 too ten for example?

Any responses appreciated as I've never got into the PvP scene before and it interests me.

lvls 4 to 10 arnt really worth PvPin as some builds will only have one attack.

the higher the lvl the more scope and variaty in builds is what makes PvP enjoyable for most ppl.

It is possible to casual PvP pretty well, I do. For zonal PvP Sirens Call, Bloody Bay etc there are usually others in zone and teams will tend to form so you dont need to come in a group, though a well balanced PvP team of people who know each others styles and builds and are good mates is very fun. Arena PvP matches see below...

There are quite often organised events an example on Defiant atm is the Arena 8pm events which are taking place at 8pm every night. Best to take a look in your severs Heroes/Villains thread and or here. Teams will usually form ad hoc at the 8pm event and so you dont need to have one but on the other hand it can be cool to have a team or duo partner to discuss ideas with, atm for example I am a fairly regular duo partner with Hammerfall a regular around heres Blaster on my own Empath and its a blast

A lot of PvP players of course have high level PvP toons or like me didn't get into PvP really until they had hit 50, but the arena matches can be set to exemp to lower levels and I am sure there are bound to be people who'd be willing to give you a few matches if you want to try it out at low levels the exemp system is far from perfect but I personally think it does an ok job, obviously the higher level you are the more powers are available and so the stronger the PvP systems challenge gets and the more fun you can have but thats just imho

All in all I would advise giving it a go and seeing if you enjoy it, the best way to find out is to "Suck it and see" as it were and in the end you stand to lose nothing but a few minutes of your time.

All this was of course just quickfire answering as if you want a more in depth look at PvP you can get it pretty well by just browsing around these boards

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

White

.As others have said, Sirens Call be a pretty good place to go - its abit more fun (in my opinion) because you get to use afew more powers than you would say in Bloody Bay.

Statements such as you wont win any are rubbish (especially since you haven't mentioned your AT). I dont see how anyone without ever seeing you play can say you never win. Hopefully you be able to have lots of fights and enjoy them. There is a lot of skilled players about as well as casual people who are there just for abit of a laugh. A lot of the time it can be teamed based so if you are not in a team then you get picked off.

P.S. Dont let anything said in a pvp zone put you off pvp as some people do have a bad attitude and just dont know any better. Do what Bobthedemon would do and if someone is swearing at you, just send a petition .... then kill then

Aye it's very much possible to be able to do some casual PvP, hell thats how i got into PvP in the first place. Sirens is a nice play to start, but depending on your AT it can also put you off PvP completely. Sirens seems to be an abundance of stalkers and/or spines/regen scrappers which at those lvls few ATs cope against.

Bloody Bay is a nice place to start, but like said before it often is quiet and the people that ARE there often get ticked off when you attack em cause they are "only doing missions". If they do get mad at you for attacking though, just ignore em and give them an even harder smacking.. will teach em to enter a PvP zone.

For casual PvP I DO encourage people to go to zones rather than arena as it's a bit more welcome for firsttimers. No issues with organizing event, find people etc etc, just hop in and fight. Disadvantage of the zones is that at times the fight can be onesided (e.g. 10 heroes vs 2 villains) and the fact that you can get debt there.

Arena PvP is a whole different kind of PvP. The tactics you learned in the zones practically go out of the window against any regular arena PvPer. As arena is all bout whacking your opponent in a small environment, the action seems to be a bit more hectic.

One thing you should know when you PvP, it can bring out the worst in people. My advice is try to ignore all the [censored] that try to act like some bigshot in PvP, telling you some tactics are "cheating" and that if HE had the first shot HE would TOTALLY own you and you are just a n00b blablabla. It's PvP, everything goes. Don't wanna get sniped? Then stay the hell out of a PvP zone. Don't wanna get ASed? Stay the hell out of a PvP zone. Once you enter the zone, you open yourself up for attacks.

Pity not everybody knows this and seems to compensate when they lose with cussing, or gloating how good he was beating you. Just dont reply and give em a good spanking. Once they start namecalling or anything, just petition em and proceed to teach em what PvP is about, his face kissing the floor. Just remember not everybody is like this and there are alot of great people out there to PvP with as well. Just take a look around these forums and you see most regular PvPers are more than happy to show a new PvPer, casual or hardcore, the ropes.

Anyway as said before (though i think post got deleted) if you're on Union and want any help with some casual PvP, gimme a shout on @stagefright and I'll be more than happy to tag along or give you some pointers.

Hope you enjoy the PvP on this game!

Just go in and have a go.

My toons that I PvP with (Brain and Melon) are not ideal for PvP and are not specced into optimal builds at all (Melon is almost a do badly movement wise-build ) . However, I have a lot of fun in the zones and through the process of many beatings have learnt a fair bit. I still get my butt handed to me, but I also know that I can be a small thorn in the enemies side.

I don't know what AT you are but I echo my original statement, "give it a try". I really enjoy it - it stops the RSI recovering.

PVP is everyones enjoyment, and we could sure use more people doing it. Although I'd recommend playing up to at least level 20 first. At lvl 30 you should be ready for action at sirens call which is where the most of PVP seems to happen.

You can try arena as well of course, but most often the people you meet there are more 'professional' in what they do, still good chaps though most of them. Getting wins at arena is just tougher than you might think

Try not to be put off by the inevitable sore losers at the zones, who either mouth off cause they lost or mouth off cause they won. There are lots of nice people PVPing, but inevitably you will meet some bad fruits as well.

The best piece of advice I can give you is PVP IS NOT THE SERIOUS BUSINESS HALF THE PEOPLE IN THE ZONES MAKE IT OUT TO BE! As long as you understand that, it's nearly impossible to not have fun since it becomes really easy to laugh at the people telling you PvP is a SERIOUS BUSINESS.
