Time Bomb

Hi!
I have teammed a few */Devices blasters and I have seen them setting up trip mines on the way between the team and the enemies before sniping them... I am playing an Arc./devices blaster and i like this Cloacking dev./trip mines/ caltrops /snipe a mob combo (or shoot them a rain of arrows to atract them...)
The question is, how does time bomb convines with this maneuver? Is it worth of getting or will it explode too early/too late?
And how do you slott Trip Mine and Time Bomb? 3 dmg/3 recharge?
Any tips from an experieced traps master?

And concerning arcehry... Are stun arrow / ranged shot any good? For snipping i was thinking in Blazing arrow... And since i'll go for Aid other / Aid self i have top drop some powers...

Thaks for the advices.

how i plan on using time bomb when i get it (only lvl 32 atm) is after setting up trip mines, use smoke grenade (smoke grenade+cloak=invis) then go next to whatever the target is and plant the bomb, wait then use the trip mines

So if I get you properly, you would use it to aggro the mob, wouldn't you?
I my case as i'll get rain of arrows at 32 i was thinking on using it for aggroing them... And on the other hand, i was not planning to get smoke grenade...

I do NOT reccomend using Blazing Arrow as a Pull power. Chances are, because of the DoT fire damage, it will agro the whole group. Aimed/Snap Shot are much better for pulling. The snipe just rocks I find.

Personally I don't like Time Bomb at all, it's a far too inflexible for my personal tastes. Trip Mines are another matter entirely. As a very cautious solo they're usually my mainstay attack, although I find them far less useful on the rare occasions I do team (they're almost useless on most PUG teams) Used intelligently along with caltrops and Auto Turret they're without a doubt my most devastating attack by far, and usually there's little short of an AV I can't comfortably solo with them, IF I have the patience to lay a full set. That's their one drawback - even with three recharge they're slow, slow, SLOW, so far from ideal for those who prefer a fast-paced playstyle. I slot mine 3 Damage, 2 Accuracy and 1 Recharge if and when I can spare a sixth slot.

[/ QUOTE ]I tried an Archery/Dev shortly at L40 during the RV event, and found the best tactic to be:
1) Plant mines and caltrops
2) Plant time bomb at mobs while invisible (SS+CD)
3) Plant trip mine certain time after time bomb, to make them blow at the same time
4) Leg it far away ASAP and use rain of arrows in conjunction with the exploding trip mine and time bomb.

If that doesn't work, then just drop part 3).

Trip Mine + Teleport Foe is a very safe way of soloing. Slow but safe.

Trip Mines in a PUG should be used to either cover an escape route or as an additional AoE if you can avoid getting hit.

What I tend to do is plant a bomb, nuke at 8 seconds til detonation, then whatever is left gets killed by the bomb. Either that or hit Aim at 7 seconds, start mine at 6, then they should detonate at the same time.

On teams I lay caltrops and a trip mine directly in front of me at the start of each fight as a last line of defence against melee attackers. Along with my Buckshots knockback it generally does the trick. PUG's rarely if ever give me the time to lay more than one mine per fight, unless they're pretty disorganised. Even on a slow PUG, if I do use downtime to lay a decent minefield they'll inevitably just charge forwards over it rather than letting me pull the mobs over it, so I've pretty much given up trying

I've never been on a PUG that gave me enough confidence to try using mines more aggressively, although with Cloaking Device plus the -perception debuff from Smoke Grenades giving me almost the equivalent of full/superior invisibility it's a perfectly viable tactic which I use all the time solo. I've learned the hard way that if I try that on a PUG then it's virtually guranteed that the moment I'm rooted by the minelaying animation some lunatic will aggro the entire mob so that they run right into to me...
