Yes I did, and you can't prove that I didn't. No sir.
Yeah abit disappointing but had some fun in the just for fun arena match. Our teams turned up (amazing I know) but you had allocated us 2 subs.

The turnout at this weeks 3vP was, to be quite blunt, disgusting. More than half the people who were drawn in matches this week failed to show up, so no actual fights took place. Instead, everyone who did not show up has been penalized
[/ QUOTE ]
And yet in more than one occasion people who did turn up were also penalised, doesnt exactly court good feeling.
And to be blunt I think many who were waiting for information and match postings when the organisers went AWOL for a time was equaly disgusting as you find the no-shows, everyone has a life and obligations outside of a game.

At which point in the duration of the competition were you unable to contact me to ask about the tournament? No, seriously? Because I read these boards at least once a day, so PMs are usually answered overnight.
You'll find Uncle Al (Dr. Mambo) and X-treme (X-plosive) were both on 2 lives before tonight and should therefore now be on 1

So why were the postings put up a DAY (the other week) before the matches were sheduled? You seriously think that is enough time for people?
And yeah, one of my PMs went unanswered, and you clearly are not reading the boards and/or are ignoring them as I specified on no uncertains grounds (several times) that I had withdrawn and wanted my name removed from any and all aspecs of the 3vP tournament.

awesome..eliminated cause I had to work..if I knew it a bit earlier I could have shown up..oh well bad luck I guess..
any reason why im eliminated? gatling was gonna use x-plosive for me so i dont see why i've even lost 1 life let alone 2...

The teams are random anyway, and actually were originally going to be drawn on Wednesday night. People know that 3vP is every thursday at 7:30pm, why should the day the teams are arranged make any difference?

I was just using your name as a placeholder so that it wouldn't screw up the way I have the tournament recorded at my end. I wasn't expecting you to turn up at all, and was quite prepared to find subs for you every week.
If you think you can do better, Stalkobot, you organize a PvP tournament.
so i've lost 2 lives for not being able to make it and organising a mate to use my character for me then
Well, from my point of view, I totally agree with this. At the end of the day, I've turned up for every single match and in at least one of them, it was the use of subs that cost me the match. Not to forget wasting up to an hour of my play time waiting around in the arena for no shows.
At the end of the day, I don't see how people can expect to keep their life if someone else is fighting and winning their match for them. If that was the case, I'd have got someone who's actually good at PvP to sub for me in all my matches until they got me to the final
We all knew when the matches were being held and even though there has been some uncertainty over previous weeks, anyone who hadn't seen anything informing them otherwise only had to turn up at the arena on Thursday night and check in so even if things did change, at least you could say you were there on the night the matches were supposed to happen so can't be penalised.
While i'm sure many people will disagree with me, I for one think players who have actuaslly played in and won the same amount of matches as me having more lives than me is wrong, just because they've had an extra win where a sub played for them when they couldn't make it.
(Seperate note to X-treme. Not sure if you asked someone else to actually log in and play as your character but Xanthus called the names of those who had/hadn't checked in and gave a time limit for the missing players to check in with him. Guessing whoever was meant to be playing your character didn't do that.)
well i've still lost 3 lives instead of 2

seeing as how a week was bypassed on both servers and a "organise your own" week occurred how on earth are people expected to predict as and when you are going to "run" things. So we have prescendent of the "tournament" NOT being regular so why should people put their lives on hold WITHOUT confirmation?
As for using my name as a placeholder is irrelevant, I asked for my name to be removed in its entirity from your tournament and chose to ignore me in PMs and on the boards which to be honest I find disrespectful, especially as plenty of people who wanted, and should have been, included in the listings have been ommitted. My name is not yours to use as a placeholder in anyway.
Could I run a better tournament? Hell yeah, Im quite meticulous and assure you that accurate results would be posted. Would I run one? Hell no, people are ingrates and unreliable, I play this game (including pvp) for fun and this is why I would NEVER run a Hami raid despite the 100 or so sucessful ones I have done. However though some are unreliable I feel it is counter productive for people who turn up every damn week on time, sub for several teams and then get penalised because the organisers cant be arsed to turn up, several people have been punished in this way, not just me. World cup or not, you started something and should have the dedication to see it through.

The only times I've not turned up to a 3vP match were last week, and the thursday when I set the "organize your own" thing up. If you were honest, you'd admit that you said that you weren't going to make any effort to organize your matches (I can't be bothered to go and find the quote now). You have no cause for complaint here. If you had taken the time to organize your match, then you wouldn't have been penalized.

I'm not surprised either that this hasnt been organised before but as you saw fit to keep my name included in your tournament despite frequent requests I am apparently a integral part of it and as such entitled to my opinion and veiws. I ask you this
Do you think you have done the best job you could have?
And I havent complained. I raised points and issues that should be raised, without addressing said points how can you put things right? Are you seriously telling me you run things perfectly? Clearly not and as such should be a big enough man to accept and use constructive criticism.
I didnt even complain when I said to remove my name SEVERAL TIMES.

Thats total BS mate, I was there in galaxy subbing for teams, waiting for my match and no one turned up, how can I organise something when no one is online? I'm quite interested. I took time to attend, to assist and got penalised for it AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. Seeing as you DIDNT turn up for 2 weeks how can you have the audacity to penalise people for not being there WHEN THEY WERE? And have witnesses to attest to this fact AND subbed in other matches.

OK, stepping in as peace maker here as I've teamed with and have a lot of time for both of you and don't want to see this get out of hand.
Xanthus(and Cap Morgan) - These guys have come up with a great format and with the heat wave/world cup and a few unavaoidable teething problems have done a good job IMO. Yes, certain things could have been better but with the no shows that have happened throughout, I personally don't blame them for not busting their balls to fix every little mistake that's gone wrong when the people taking part can't be bothered.
Stalk-obot - Stalk, I know you were there for your match and losing a life because the other 5 didn't turn up when you arranged the match was a little on the harsh side but Xanthus was in a no win situation there. If he received a tell from you on the night, before the next weeks matches were scheduled or when the match was originally scheduled, i'm sure you would have kept your life. Outside of that, he simply can't accept a PM after the round was drawn saying you were there but no one else was. I don't know the specifics but I'm pretty sure from what i've heard the problem was he never received word from either of the teams involved until the deadline/next round draw was past.
This has been a very good tournament and I think the only failing has been in that Xanthus and Cap have relied on people entering actually turning up on the night of the matches every week. When this hasn't happened through no fault of their own, they've tried to be strict, fair AND as accomodating as possible within reason and had to improvise. I REALLY don't think it's fair to have a go at them.
The problems that have occurred have been mainly linked to the players who couldn't be bothered to turn up for their matches and take a little bit of responsibility themselves.
Your case Stalk was just an unfortunate side effect of finding the fine line between being reasonable and being fair. Xanthus could have let you keep your life which would have been the fairest thing but it also would have been a can of worms.
I could have not turned up for one of my matches, found out everyone else also didn't bother then sneakily claimed 'I was there but no one else was. Give me my life back'.
In short, don't start picking each other's responses apart as we all know that just escalates things(whenever you see a post with four or five different quotes, eahc one with seperate repsonse, you know it's going to end in tears ) and accept that there was a slight gap in the procedures for no shows and match rescheduling that we've all now seen, will be noted and taken care of for future events and put it down to experience.
The organisers have had stress and rubbish as a result and Stalk-obot has lost a life he probably shouldn't have but this was a dry run and things have been learnt from it.
BTW, feel free to tell me to butt out and get lost as I've teamed with you both enough to put up with it

some people work evenings and cant drop everything for a few days notice after there was nothing mentioned the previous week just cos ppl dont turn up dont assume they cant be bothered
and i still havent had a response as to why i've been eliminated
theres valid points on both sides, it has been a good tournament and xanthus and capt deserve a medal and a pint for organising it but there is definate problems with organisation going on
[ QUOTE ]

I'm still looking into that. I'll try and have an answer for you during the weekend.
Ooh! a shiny medal
I can only apologise again for the RL issues that have prevented me from being as organised for the defiant side as I would have liked - I actually think on defiant we are pretty close to the final (certainly no more than another week or two), so we can bring this first run of 3vP to a satisfactory conclusion on test to see which server r0xxz0rz the most :P
Yes, we can learn some lessons for organisation, especially about giving notice in advance of draws, and having reserve organisers to help out should RL intrude. I7 being launched definitely didn't help either We also had to improvise as to what happened with no-shows - we didn't really anticipate it to be brutally honest, but know better now!
I'm glad that loads of people have enjoyed an interesting PvP tournie, and hope that those still with lives work with the problems and carry on - after all, there's bragging rights at stake!

I posted in the results thread of the 3vP round that is in question that there was just me there and that clearly I had won by default (In fact I posted this more than once) LONG before the next set of matches was posted (16th June, results published were then placed on the boards on the 28th June) For my post see here http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/sh...o=&fpart=6
