My mind/nrg respec and patron powers

Ok so i recently respecced into a very nice build that lets me put out a lot of damage while retaining my holding ability. This was centred around single target damage and holds, with powerboosted AoE holds for when i need them. It was also designed to be PvP friendly, and indeed performs very well for a dominator. I have recently however begun to return to my senses and realise that i actually don't like PvP (think i took this toon in to sirens all of twice) and will be spending 99% of the time in PvE. Teaming with a rad/kin corrupter and recieving the blessing that is fulcrum shift i have started to yearn for some AoE damage output, so i've altered my build slighty to get as much AoE damage as i can without sacrificing holds or my ability to PvP (by this i mean get by, i'm not out to min/max for PvP at all).

So here it is, my AoE, domiblapper build. Oh and please dont point out the virtues of aid self or the dangers of blapping for a dominator, i'm very comfortable with my ability to plant at a moments notice I just hope this toon will be fun, and feeling like an AoE killing machine on occasion does it for me

Interesting build Kitty, I have considered something similar myself...

Does anyone have any experience with how good whirling hadns and terrify are in terms of damage output?

Whirling Hands and Terrify do the exactly same damage. Their damage is very close to Mesmerize. Anyhow I would pick Terrify for it's fear effect, haven't played /Energy that far so I do not know much about Whirling Hands except for it's damage.

Way i thought was that when i want terrify as a "hold" power rather than damage i can hit powerboost first thus doubling the duration. However, in CoV mobs tend to drop VERY fast in a half decent team with some good brutage, so i rarely see the advantage of longer AoE holds.

Luckily i have no problem with debt and i tend to team most of the time, so i figure having 3 AoE powers will be handy, if risky.

Oh, does anyone know if AoE attacks count for more domination built than ST powers? I really should know at lvl 40, but tbh i don't really watch my dom bar, i just do my thing and find it builds in a couple of minutes at full pelt.

Quick question about mind dominators.

How is levitate damage on dom's? I know from controllers it does great damage with containment, but is the damage really worth it on doms who have no containment?

I would drop confuse, I'm really not a fan of single target confuse's in PvP nor PvE. You already have mass confusion which is awesome. I would personally drop the single target confuse and pick up hasten.

Levitate does a fair amount of damage (3.6667 BI)

I have a Dominator with Telekinetic Thrust and Levitate slotted for accuracy and recharge. If the opponent has no knockback protection he is going to have a spin. Add hasten to fasten up things and your Dominator has become a Juggler! Wish there was "JUGGLE" above the opponent's head each time.

hmmm, well I'd rather get confuse at an eariler stagem and why did you get swift, hurdle and stamina and not swift, health stamina. Domniators are fairly squishy and need at least a little health boost.

Because if you cant 3 slot it and you have no defence, you will never notice health at all. I used to get it for the supposed "sleep resistance" which i don't know about anyone else, but i've never once noticed. As i play i a very blappery way i like the movement bonus of CJ and hurdle. It gives me great unsupressed vertical movement in PvE and PvP. This is a matter of taste but now i've tried it i rather like it

Oh and levitate is great, control AND damage all in one...yes please.

As for confuse, it's what makes mind control the greatest ST control set (IMO) and has saved my bacon many a time when one of my other holds has missed. Oh and nothing better than having a tsoo sorcerer healing you, or a FF generator sheild you or...(my personal favorite)...longbow -res feilds debuffing them to bits

I recently changed the slotting on total domination to 2/2/2 acc/hold/rech and there really is a massive difference in the hold time which is useful for stacking in PvP, and for those extra few seconds on PvE when a mob isn't quite dead

I do have Health slotted because I hate downtime, but this is personal preference.

I'd also fit Hasten in somewhere, again for stacking holds and for having the important powers ready when you need them. Total Dom and Mass Confusion have such long downtimes that Hasten makes an awfully big difference, I'd probably drop stealth for it and fit it in earlier. Running stealth, SJ, Acrobatics and Charged Armour in RV is gonna kill your end pretty quickly
