Brute for PvP
[ QUOTE ]
Only blaster energy melee has automatic toggle droppers. Tank and brute have to do it the old fashioned way, by stacking enough disorients to break past the mez defence. This is pretty unlikely to happen.
[/ QUOTE ]
Most energy melee sets I've fought dropped my mez protect so fast I just assumed it was auto And with Stun/TF/ET/Bone Smasher they don't have to worry about getting past mez protect Still nice to know I have a chance

They do have to worry like everyone else, but I agree there's plenty of stun in those attacks.. Remember to make a point between blasters and other ATs though. Blasters(Blappers) dont care about mez protect

It can drop a random toggle, if the first attack drops your Mez protect and the next one connects you could be mez'ed. Happens alot to my /DA, I think energy sets just know what to drop

All Blasters have toggle droppers, but only */En has the toggle-drop + stun effect which is why it's so nasty. Non-Energy might drop toggles but they don't stun, allowing you to re-toggle whereas without a BF or equivalent you can't respond Vs Energy, because you're stunned.
Um yeah, didnt notice the word "energy" before.. All blaster secondaries have two toggle-dropping attacks in them. Filth is correct.
As a SS/INV brute i wouldn't recommend it for PvP, KO Blow is my only attack with wich i can hope of killing someone and with the current toggle [censored] fest going on */INV doesn't feel right at all. Heck even unstoppable is a joke when there's a blapper around with BU+Aim, kiss your health bar good bye.
I managed to reach 400 PvP rep for the badge in a relatively short time so i guess its still relliable build but certainly not the best for a PvP type of player.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't expect to see anyone building a /Fire specifically for PvP, that said, as it's not a prêt à porter PvP set - I had a specific concept in mind, and knew the tactics I'd be using from the outset. It has obvious (and some less obvious) shortcomings, but nothing that can't be solved with good support. YMMV, as always.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm currently leveling a EM/Fire brute at least partly with PvP in mind, for mostly the reasons you outline, plus a couple of ideas I have involving some of the stuff coming in I7.
Provided you have a stopwatch/herostats/an egg timer, /Inv is very, very good at high level, provided you pick and choose your engagements. By pick and choose, what I really mean is use unstoppable as much as possible, as it is the mutts nuts for dealing with blappers.
"HAHA Mr Bute! Your toggles have dropped!"
"They have my blapper chum. Your point?"
SMASH!
"I seem to have been smashed by you Mr Brute. This I did not expect."
"Suck it up blast-boy. Uh-oh"
The uuwwwwwwwooooo sound of doom occours. A defender one shots the brute.
Dead Calm's Defender Manifesto
ooooooh I want to see a defender one shot something, I'd like my defender to one shot something even more, something that isn't 10 levels lower than me ideally

From this day on I swear I'll make Blasters extinct(sp?). My precious /DA toggles

Energy has advantages in that it's high damage, has a lot of stuns and is energy. It's barmy to say Stone is completely useless in PvP.

OFC this make much difference nowadays, as most decent Blappers are either ice/? or ele/?, and thus have a hold of their own. The stun in /NRG is only really effective nowadays on squishies with no disorient protection (i.e. acrobatics but not Aid Self)

Aye, tis true. It's just that the conversation was about energy melee so I was being specific.
I'm a bit surprised that omgarm said that non blaster EM toggle drop him. Must be total focus, cos I'd be surprised if you could hit fast enough to stack the disorients from the other attacks.

I always thought that EM (for any character to be exact) didn't have automatic toggle drops, but when I got to fight some they seemed to drop my toggles so fast I just assumed it was auto-drop.
So yes I guess it was the TF + fast disorients that caught me offguard.

Green-Peace (the Rainbow Warrior) was built with EM/EA, mainly for PvE, but I wanted a build that would be superb for PvP. (I have Micropimp, my lvl 41 regen/spiny scrapper who is quite good at PvP, but I wanted better...and I don't like the one-shot then fragility of a stalker)
Green-Peace is now at lvl 28 and has a good range of abilities but to make up some more infamy (and earn a couple of badges), I took her to Bloody Bay to kill Shivan and Freakshow. Whilst SJ-ing around, I noticed a fragile looking scrapper just emerging from the hero base and so thought I'd have a go... stealth-mode engaged (energy cloak)...sneaky sneaky.. BAM.. disorientated straightaway.. a few more hits and the scrapper was toast, without the Fury bar getting much above half full. A few minutes later, a gun-toting blaster appeared. Same story.
Now, with a reputation of 2, I feel invincible.. and more than happy with my choices. Disorient powers really do the business for me in PvE and PvP.
P.S. Just got the energy drain power and so now can run with all defences active and just top up the power when needed - one recharge SO is all it takes to maintain the equalibrium.
You didnt read about the no toggle-drop change yet?
