Hey folks, Left around Issue 7, lots of things have changed since then. I have no idea what to do with invention enhancements and even less with invention sets.
So, I've got two /respec to use, I will use one to respec with SO's to a more suitable build from the one I have right now. Then once my brain manage to understand the thing about inventions perhaps We'll changed that..
I've also read, correct me If i'm wrong that you can respec patron power? I'm currently Mace but if its possible to change I would like to try Mu's power. Therefor any hints/helps how to slots those power would be greatly apprieciated.
Thanks in advance for your time trying to pull my favorite character out of hibernation! One last thing, ignore at which level I've slotted the powers.
Here's the build :

Sorry max was around much this week end for the Vets invite, Thanks for the email. I'll up my sub once again. I posted couple questions in the player question's forum.
I'll be on when I come back from work later today. -
Left around when Villains got their Issue with Grandville&patrons powers.
What happened since then? New Story arcs, New Zones, New powersets? Talking about powerset, any "buff" or "nerf"?
IO's, what are those? I see these everywhere in Archetype builder, I understand those are inventions, you can "craft" them? If so where at?
If you guys have a link or good enough to write the list, I'll be very grateful.
PS : Yes Max, I'll up my sub once again. -
Sorry i'm going to have to pull out, France is Playing against Brazil this Saturday, i can't miss it and i'll be out in town. (I'm French
) Would have been very happy to attempt it but i won't be at home.
-
I agree with Everclear, Fire/Stone is probably the best set if you like to herd. Though SS/Stone is also very good for that. Rage does help with the -damage debuff from Granite. Also Footstomp is awesome aoe attack.
-
Aren't shivans capped at lvl 25 though? I'm not sure they'll be able to hit Heroes lvl 54.
-
Would be interested to tag along with my 50 brute. Though i hardly believe any team will managed to finish the SF on first attempt.
-
Or one could ditch jab in favor of boxing to open the way toward Tough. Thats what i did in a previous build.
I have Jab once more in my current build. I like it. If my endurance is very low, alternating between brawl and jab not only quickly build fury but let me get some endurance back. -
Sturmovik, SS/INV Mace mastery got to 50 yesterday evening.
-
Meh avoid Jump Kick like the plague, long animation attack are very poor in your attack chain. More so that as a brute you need a steady flow of attacks to keep that fury up.
-
I had Hurl and Air Superiority for the longest time in my build. I droped Hurl though. Why? Because i went for Black Scorpion as a patron and the first power offered to you aslong a ranged blast is a ranged AOE -fly and -jump. Fairly fast recharge aswell. It doesn't deal damage however. I Loved hurl though, nothing like tossing a rock at a squishy dying from it as he, hopeless, try to leg it.
In your case i would grab Air Superiority it has the exact same damge as Punch, same recharge and a greater chance of KD. Jab, Air Superiority and Punch in itself is already a great attack chain with Haymaker here and there when its up. -
How did you managed to run out of contact at 43? O.o Just curious, this just seems odd. Sturmovik is curently 48 with Black Scorpion rest of the story arc left and Veridian wich i still need a couple badges to unlock him.
Did a dozen newspaper missions with the mayhem along. Actully didn't grouped that much.
Never really get into it, but are we getting more xp while soloing (in the long run). Because i did solo most of my grinding carrier so far with this character. -
So its at 5pm GMT+1 then? (Paris/Berlin) If so i think i'll be back from work. I'd be intersted to come along with my Brute Sturmovik LvL 46 though i don't mind to be exemp for the duration of the hunt. Cheers.

I'm going to give you the very dull awnswer, there are no "best" brute out there. Whatever set does not have in comparaison to another set does have something it doesn't. So, basically it just come down wich power set suit your concept, ideal of brute, how you like to play it.
If you like to be a "herder" with gazillon of mobs around you, to only leave ashes from your foe then Fire/Fire could be what you are seeking. Fire/Fire brutes in a team setup, backed up with Corruptors buff are scary. Very scary.
If you like to kill any single target as fast as possible, you may be looking at Energy Melee.
If you like to be the tough guy, Stone armor with Granite can tank whatever they want to.
Just a few examples. Hope this helps, but i'm afraid there are no best brutes. There are however defenitly some sets that are better suited depending on the situation or what you are expecting from your brute in general. If you like to "tank it" Fire armor may not be the best choice. -
I have it 6 slotted, 3 recharge reduction & 3 To Hit Buff. Though 2 To Hit Buff should be enough. If you are Invulnerability armor, you can also slot invicibility with To Hit Buff, they do stack.
-
Dark Melee has a Fear wich is near unreristed, can stack multiple -accuracy debuff. The burst damage is so so though.
Energy Melee is often favored for people who like to PvP, because it has energy damage wich is one of the less resisted damage, can stack disorients and two extreme damage attack.
Super Strength has rage wich is different from other set "build up", you can run it perma with 3 SO in it. I don't have the number at hands but it does greatly increase your accurady and your damage output while it is active. So much that you can chose not to slot your attacks with accuracy (in PvE) to give you an idea. It comes with a cost however, a 10second crash where you can only affect yourself (ie healing power and such) and a heavy end cost once it wears off (roughly 1/3 of your endurance bar). But as a Super Strength Brute, i can honestly say it is worth it. Super Strenght has also a Hold with Knockout Blow wich is the only extrem damage of the set. Most SS attacks can knockdown your foe (knocback on lesser foes).
Fire, not so great in PvP. Whereas other sets have Knockdown, accuracy debuff, disorients Fire has damage over time wich is not the best if you want to take down your enemy as fast as possible. I'm not familiar with this set however so someone might be able to give more information.
Stone Melee, definitly one of the most smashtastic set. Waving your hammer at people is just fun. However it only deals smashing damage like Super Strentgth wich is greatly resisted in PvP. It has a lot of knockdowns like Super Strength, both sets are actully quite similar in terms of damage output. Stone melee does have a ranged -fly wich is great to bring flying foe from afar (super strength also have one).
Electric Melee, well i only toyed with one on test server a while back. No too familiar with the set. Its energy damage so its a good choice for PvP i'd say. -
Super Strength has only one disorient and its a little one, from Jab. And its very rare it does apply at that.
I like both set. Like everyone said, it just boil down to preference or concept. Wacking people with a mighty huge granite hammer or smashing people to pulp with your bar hands. -
Rage, KO Blow, Footstomp should be enough to let one favor SS over SM
-
First, its a knock up since you seems to be nitpick, second Knockout Blow apply a hold. I've been PvP'ing for last few months in Siren's Call and Warburg i should know.
I'll repeat myself once more, Knockout Blow has a Hold component.
Try it sometime, ask one of your friend SS tanker or brute then come back here. If you are on Union, i can arrange that. -
Knockout Blow has a Hold component. That alone is fantatisc. Single target extreme damage with a hold? Sign me up.
-
Yeah i think everyone will be grinding like mofos for a while
-
1538 damage with Knockout Blow on a Blaster resting in Siren's Call. Keep in mind you are examp'd to lvl 30 in the zone. I couldn't believe it. I know you get huge bonus damage on targets who are in "resting" status though.

The thing with Electric Armor is that its a Resistance set, unlike Energy Armor or for instance, Super Reflex for scrapper wich are Defense based.
Is it bad? Yes and no. Electric Armor doesn't have a Self Heal, wich is not that bad because anyone can pick up Aid Self. Problem is, the armor is Resistance Based thus you'll get hit and often. Whereas its not so much of a problem to not have a Self Heal (Dull Pain, Healing Flames ect) if your armor set is Defense based because you get Hit less.
