Canonical typo list
only problem i foresee with this is that there is a time limit on how long you have to edit your posts, once you pass that you are going to have to start making new ones and they can likely be lost if there are many replies
I wonder how things like the guides index work, then?
If it becomes an issue I'll put the list up on the Web and add a comment when I add additional typos.
sounds like a good plan
I added the error in the text for the Medic badge; "... healing them for two hundred and 250,000 hit points."
Also added "Disconnecting in 1 seconds."
More badge typos, although I think I have all the low-hanging fruit. Sheesh - I'm sure I reported Phalanxer in issue 3, too...
Am I really the only unashamed pedant here? Apparently.
Added capitalisation of "Telekinetic blast".
Some dodgy NPC dialogue in Croatoa.
I would love to help you, i've seen countless typo's, spelling mistakes, and in some cases completely nonsensical sentences in story arc dialog. Only problem is i can't remember any of them.
Perhaps also using the location of the contacts which have the grammatically incorrect text would make life easier? Like for CoV you could list contacts in Port Oakes, Sharkhead etc?
I'll keep my eye out for Sharkhead + Zones in CoV as my stalkers there atm.
somethings which are maybe also worth remembering is that some typo's/grammar inconsistences may be part of the specific mobs 'personality' Might be worth to remember that somethings may be intentional
Mmm. I started this because I have the same problem; I know they're out there, but I can never remember which ones I've reported. So, start afresh - when you do see one, report it here.
NPC dialogue can be tricky, as you observe, being reported speech. Clearly the punctuation should always be correct, since people cannot speak punctuation - save for apostrophes indicating speech patterns. Conversely expressions like "gotta" are obviously simply what the NPC is saying.
However, a lot of the time an NPC says "P128912421749" or "'" or something like that. There are some grey areas - perhaps it's intended for Croatoa Tuatha to spout random gibberish - but we'll just have to use our judgement.
Let's have a pleasantly vague mission report, too, while I'm at it.
I can't usefully add CoH contact locations because all contacts for one origin have the same dialogue for arc missions and the like. Only contacts' "Hello, nice to meet you" dialogue is unique to them AFAIK.
Few more including a double helping in one Bocor briefing. In fact, Bocor's a rich vein of goofs just waiting to be tapped.
In fact, someone who worked on CoV contacts simply has no idea about "its" and "it's". Cryptic do employ a proofreader... right?
There's also the problem that some NPC speech is often Censored; like the Pantheons "I call on the Gawd of Pain."
Do they really? I've never seen that, although perhaps I just missed it. Do you play with the profanity filter on (wondering if it ties into NPC dialogue)?
Under what circumstances do you see this dialogue? I'm curious now.
[I know there's the odd "freaking" out there, but we just have to live with that - well, it'd be nice if the profanity filter _did_ tie into NPC dialogue, so with it off the NPCs would say what we all read it as anyway.]
I think it's on the very first Pantheon Mission and there's a couple of lines where they call on G O D meaning Lughebu. I'm sure I've seen another one where there's been an obvious word missed out.
The people walking around Atlas who talk about going to Kin(gs Row, because the words are truncated) have been their since launch as well.

Like the longbows saying "I"? (or l, cant see the difference )
Some Arachnos bots say "TexT".
Galvanised info box says "You gave been" this needs to be "You have been".
There are loads more..
I report every typo I see in the hope that something gets done.. Which so far it doesnt.
K
Think I may have to await a direct quote on the Pantheon one. I'll check out these guys in Atlas - I always start in Galaxy.
Added the Longbow one and the Arachnos bots. I presume Galvanised is a power?
Added a few of my own from just an hour's play. I despair gently of the magnitude of the task.
K - yes, I report typos and they don't often get fixed - my personal record is Phalanxer from issue 3 - but I hope if we assemble a sufficient list, someone may actually refer to it when producing patches.
Pinned down the "Archon Archon Maurillo" problem.
Then there's the classic "You are already currently logged in" (approx quote) if you disconnect and reconnect too soon.
Edit: It's actually "This account is already currently logged in."
Um. Why do you feel that's a typo?
Because "already" and "currently" surely shouldn't be together like that in the same sentence - "This account is already logged in." or "This account is currently logged in." both read well to me and make sense, where as "This account is already currently logged in.", well, one word seems spurious and ungrammatical.
Or am I wrong?
Edit: Which I appear to be since Winword's grammar checker doesn't flag it - Fair enough then.
[Pedant mode on]
The Warburg hero contact did, at one point, merely say the word "string" after I'd completed a mission, so overwhelmed was he at how brilliantly I battled Arachnos. I took a screenshot, but it didn't appear to work, but it's happened twice now, when speaking to him after completing the "defuse bombs" mission.
[/pedant]
Added "already" ... "currently", "string", and Infernal's name in Founders' Falls.
Edit: given the possibility I will not be able to edit this post indefinitely, the list will appear at a typos webpage of my own.
Often I encounter typos in the game. While I generally /bug these, often I can't remember if I have /bugged them already. Furthermore it would be useful for people reporting typos to know if someone else has already reported them. Therefore I propose to edit the top-level post here to reflect all typos I encounter from this point forwards, and any other typos people mention in comments. If we are really lucky some enthusiast in QA will fix the whole lot at once. I'll attempt to determine some sort of ordering.
Please report detail. If a mission, what level range and origin (failing that, the contact name) and the mission title; if NPC dialogue, what type of NPC.
If you think this is all too pedantic for words, don't bother telling me.
We'll begin with;
General: Sentences of the form "You have defeated [foo]" lack full stops.
Mission: 15-19 Magic origin: Save Hacker from Tsoo. When the mission is complete the sentence "You have rescued the hacker and retieved the files" appear. This should read "retrieved", and is also missing a full stop.
Mission: 15-19 Magic origin: Take Artifact to [contact]. It is possible for the contact assigned for this story arc mission to be the contact for the arc itself. If you phone them up the resulting message implies they are not self-aware.
NPC Dialogue: NPC unknown, text approximate: "We are unwilling to conceed to your demands." This should read "concede". [In cases like this one exact text and speaker from another typo hunter will be appreciated.]
