there are some gr8 powers in fire and with kinetics they can really shine, fulcrum shift + fire cages + hot feet + fire imps + fire ball/psionic tornado = very fast death, the dmg is amazing, also the transfusion and transference suits fire and imps a lot more than empathy imo

Everyone always forgets the poor old Grav trollers

Illusion and empathy have too many good powers so it gets hard to pick up a travel power and stamina (when healing I always ran out of end). Luckily I could work around that problem because of my concept, but I think I must be the only illusionist who doesn't have Spectral Terror or Deceive.

I am actually finding it hard to work out when to slot in my travel power... but I think it just means I won't be travelling very fast until about lvl 24 (hurrah for team mates who are understanding and picked recell friend!). Stamina is a must tho and will be picked up at 20.

Plenty of illusionists don't seem to take deceive tho - and it won't be part of my build either.

Awww but deceive is so much fun! and very useful for voids/quantum/malta... and for AVs, to mop up minions around himself ^_^, pretty useful if ur team is not very crowded or u dont have a tank to take the alpha (u really dont come across many things as fun as seeing Infernal... destroy the portal on his own, or Babbage being a robot-icide ). But as someone said before, both sets have too many good powers, and that means that u'll have to miss some of them... So good luck and enjoy ur new troller!

now you're making deceive seem better than I thought!

hmmm choices.

If I took deceive I would have to skip spectral terror I think. So maybe the questions should be which is more useful??

Deceive is great (mainly against de/buffers such as Tsoo sorcs, Sky Raider engineers, Malta sappers, etc.) , but in my opinion Spectral Terror is more useful overall since it gives you a bit more control. Too bad you can't take both

Spectral Terror for certain!

Deceive is a nice power but you will probably never use it in bigger teams and Spectral Terror will be used all the time

(consider deceive for the lowlvls though)

I could possibly take both but I'd have to rethink my travel powers. Or just not have a travel power at all.

The intent is to be support, so perhaps it's fair that the rest of the team carry me about for 44 lvls...

Either that or get my travel powers instead of epic's...

I didnt realise that being an illusion/empath would raise so many questions about the build!

I have all the Illusion and Empathy powers, Hasten, Hover, Fly, Group Fly, Recall Friend, Indomatable Will and I don't have fitness. I get by just fine, although I'm not slotted as well as I could be.

I use both a lot too, so I actually wouldn't know which one i would get rid of... but not having a travel power seems like a pain alright though.. i'd even go for both of them before group invis (unless u plan to PvP), or some empath powers like absorb pain (and if I really had to choose, before regen aura or even adrenaline boost, although i love those powers). Hasten is included in ur build? because IMO its a must for every Illu troller

Posted

try not to confuse me too much as now I'm thinking I might have to start again from scratch!

I don't have hasten no, I am planning it in there eventually if I can... I just dont particularly like SS as a travel power

How do you manage without stamina? How many slots do you fill with end redux? Finding endurance quite an issue at the heady hights of lvl 12

I've already taken group invis btw...

argh

I think I need to go look at the build again

Hasten is really handy not only to boost ur heals and holds, but also ur PA, that will be ur tanks. Now that it's not perma I really miss it lots when it wears off (although i'm lucky i have AM, which minimizes the loss a bit).
Given that u already got group invis, i take u dont take superior invis. I like sup invis better for pve (snipers or ninja cant see u, and its a toggle, which enables u to ghost safely, unlike with group invis, that can wear off suddenly when u r in a mob), but group invis for pvp (so that ur pet is not spotted).
About stamina... u need it IMHO

I respecced out superior invisibility, and have no intention of taking either flash (rubbish preSOs) or group invisibility. I went for recall friend (for taxi'ing and for bring bodies to me for resurrect) and then TP for travel power. I love deceive, it can make a real difference to battles, although the activation is a bit long I also didn't bother with absorb pain, and took the leadership pool (assault and Tactics)

Works well, even when exemped down pre18

My ill/emp has just hit 22, and must admit that there are too many good powers needed!

Choices I have to make are....

To stamina or not to stamina once RA is available.... (if i remove stamina I can pick up leadership but can i run the toggles without stamina!)

Flash or deceive (leaning heavily towards deceive at the minute)

Heal Other or Absorb Pain (as i really doubt i can fit both in)

Anyone post a build or two here so i can see what everyone else does

Once I'm happy with my slots, I'll post mine.

Here's mine, I think it would be a little different than most peoples. I concentrated on the ill set then moved onto the others.

I think I would make/have made a few very minor changes but I am happy with it as it stands. This was something I respec'd into at 50.

EDIT: I swapped manuevers and vengence around rather than taking them in the order below.
