Best build for Solo PvE, best for PvP

So which do you guys reckon are the best power sets to take for a Solo PvE Character and a different PvP Character? My Ninja/Regen seems to do ok in both, but I'd like to try claws for the ranged...

Claws are probably the weakest primary power for a stalker, but then they do look cool and are worth taking due to focus, I have a lvl 36 claws/regen i use for pve and he can solo ok at relentless, but i'd say the most powerful build for pve is gonna be EM/Regen, EM is scary for damage on a stalker, you can 1 hit kill from hide at level 2.

By the way rumour has it that claws will be getting some love in I7, so hopefully we'll get a boost on its damage output.

For PvP then basically 2 choices, EM/EA or Spines/SR, i've not tried Spines/SR yet, but EM/EA is pretty sweet, i've only taken entropy shield atm from EA so my defense is crap but then, i dont scrap, but for hit and run's they're good just as long as you take a travel power that you can escape with.

Cool. On my Ninja/Regen Stalker, I took all of the defences first, the only attacks I have are Sting of the Wasp, ASTrike, and Placate. If I make a Claws/Regen Stalker, I can see myself getting Stamina at 24 (Got it at 22 on the Ninja), and missing Fast Recovery and Dull Pain for a while.... Would this be a problem?

PVE - EM/Regen

PVP - Spines/EA

IMO

I'm level 37 atm, not got stamina yet , so yeah you can get away without it until 24, I will be getting it at 28, as i've just tried it on my other stalker and it makes a hell of a difference, i very seldom run out of health, and rarely use greens, but my end does slow me down somewhat.

But if your going down the regen path then stamina does make sense, i always run out of end way before health

Best for PvP and PvE

Martial Arts and Energy Melee Primaries.

Super reflexes or ninjitsu for secondary.

Spines is good for PvP- Impale

I would agree EM/Regen for PvE I can solo rutless and finish with in 5 mins :P, also nice in teams for scrapping ... and if needing hitting IH and tanking.

lol? tanking????? you tank with your stalker???????

Anyway, I still consider regen a bad choice on stalkers. The no defence and toggle status protection aswell as minimum regen really doesn't go for a stalker at all. You can really tell the difference between my em/sr stalker and another villain i know's em/regen stalker. BIG difference, regen really does lack on stalkers. It is "okay" for the odd scrap but if you even get to much aggro your dead because stalkers have such small hp. Besides stalkers lose a lot of damage if they scrap as they'll spend a lot of time out of hide.

Dull Pain allows you to hide while taking damage, very very useful PvE and PvP IMHO, also healing while you run is nice. Toggle stat protection sucks though. EM is godly in PvP, dont even need AS.

Ofcourse EM will probably be nerfed I7 and regen has never not been nerfed with new issues so its pot luck.

Edit:Also regen is stuffed vs ATs using end drain.

Well, I've always prefered Regen over everything. IMO, Regen is by far the best set for Scrappers, and probably the best in Stalkers too, my Stalker can hold quite a bit of aggro before having to drop in a heal, and by the time I'm half health again, it's back up. The thing is, for Stalkers, there's nothing that's particularly bad or exceptionally good. And it is probably true about more regen Nerfs... Which proves that fact that they're best

Latest word seems to be a reduction in the animation times here.

Ok folks here's the breif.

*Gets pointy stick, graphs and maps*

I have been studying this forum like a hawk for a while. Yet I had put off buying CoV for a while too. Today though all that changed. That new base information was too much for me to take. I bought CoV.

I have decided I will try a Stalker first off, then probably a Brute.

I have also decided I would like to use Energy Melee. Which leaves only the secondry left. I was thinking Energy Aura, because it fits the concept etc. Yet I have also heard its weak in PvE. I ideally need a bit of both with the emphasis on PvE. So maybe EM/SR or EM/NJTS? Preferably I will steer clear of Regen. Purely because I have used and abused that set for so long I need a change..

Feel free to post up your builds and the like.

Probably go njts meself for its box of tricks. It has +perception that can be handy and a heal, trops are also nice for helping land an AS in pvp and pve also I believe njts gets as good a power as elude, (though could well be wrong there).

Not saying SR is weak but its a bit of a one trick pony and probably not as much fun to play. On the other hand in pvp recharge rate on powers such as AS and placate effect damage output probably more then any for other AT so quickness would be handy.

Just my 2infamy.

Well, Ninjitsu is a very Diverse set, but I've never really liked it that much. SR has a good bunch of defences, and the Hasten power is very handy. Energy, however, is a lot better imo. You should never be out of endurance in the higher levels, some NRG secondarys say they don't even need Stamina. The Energy effects, though, are in my opinion hideous, and probably laggy for those using them. I'd still go for it though.

I built a claws/regen stalker for pve and it pretty much rocked. thought id try pvp with it and no problem at all. Iv got all the main pool powers in both without stamina, and using the 1-2 hit strategy which a stalker is mainly for, works a treat. On the odd occassion where caltrops or some annoyin powers used and the as strike fails, with the regen powers, i can fight one on one and have yet to lose. Iv got pvp rating over 250 so its not just on the odd few occassions.
