Im about to run a Ice/Rad corruptor. but i dont know anything about these guys, having never played a healer.
i know the blastin side but i want to be more of a blaster with heal.

can anyone give me any advice on which powers are good and which powers i should avoid.
any feedback would be appreciated, thnx

Ok, ignoring the whole "healer" thing, which no doubt someone will flame you to a crisp over...

If you want a corruptor that heals, I'd think long and hard before taking /Rad. The heal is just pitiful (compared to some of the others). /Rad is a great set but the heal is nothing to write home about (I got a /Rad controller to 50 and I rarely if ever used the heal). Rad has many more tricks than just a heal. If you want to play a "healer" in CoV, I'd suggest warmth or dark secondaries. (/Kin works too but isn't as straightforward in play).

ok thnx for the info, tbh im not too bothered about healing i just like the look of the rad powers in the set. if ppl want to blame me for not healin them then, i'll just laugh and point at their rotting corpses.

i like the idea of debuffing etc of the rad pool, and the slowing powers of the ice set. maybe debuffing and slowing is the way to go with this type of corruptor.

I've got a rad/dark, fire/rad, energy/therm, energy/cold and a dark/kin corruptor currently filling alt slots, and ice/rad should be a lot of fun.

The rad heal really isn't much kop, certainly compared to dark, but the debuffs are very, very good (as are dark).

Kin is excellent, if a little different in playstyle, but easy to get a team - brutes (esp /stone) love you!

Thermal and cold are a lot of fun - especially with the visual cues of the shields to let people know you are buffing them.

Quick target shifting should make ice/rad an excellent combo, as you can help herd the mobs together for the debuff.

Give it a go - corruptors are ace!

It's exactly the way you should see your ice/rad. Don't let anyone else tell you you should be a "healer" or whatever, you're not. You're a great damage-dealer and debuffer.

- Ice blast -

Good:

Ice bolt, ice blast, bitter ice blast : your 3 single-target blasts. Fast activation times (1 second each), good damage.
Freeze ray : a hold with a 1 sec animation time.
Aim : it's Aim! Take it!

Decent :

Bitter freeze ray : another hold, stacked with freeze ray you can hold a boss easily. The downside is its 3 second animation.
Frost breath : a cone AoE, 3 ticks of damage. Decent range, good damage.

Discutable :

Freezing rain : it slows and does some damage, but it scatters.
Blizzard : same as freezing rain, with way better damage... however, it drains all your end, and waiting for the rain damage to kill your opponents can get *you* killed.

ATM, Freezing rain and Blizzard aren't boosted by Aim or Accelerate Metabolism, but they should be in I7.

- Rad Emission -

The big three :

Radiation infection : toggle, acc and def debuff, must have. You'll hit a orange as often as if he was a white, and a white will hit you so few you'll think he's a green.
Enervating field : your second toggle debuff, it lowers resistance and damage. It's very good, but end intensive.
Lingering radiation : AoE slow, -recharge and -regen.

Good :

Accelerate Metabolism : AoE damage, recovery, speed, recharge and status resistance buff.
EMP Pulse : AoE hold ; blocks your recovery for 10-15sec after you use it, but it's way longer than any other hold in-game.
Radiant aura : AoE heal, doesn't require a to-hit check, and you have to take it, anyway. It's always great to be able to heal up the few damage bypassing your debuffs/holds.

Decent :

Mutation : a rez, it gives a end and damage buff to your target. It's a good rez but, well... it's a rez.
Chocking cloud : toggle AoE hold. It has a huge end cost and you can't slot it for accuracy, however RI and some end reductions can take care of this problem. It won't hold everything in range, so it's not reliable, but it's a nice plus if you can afford the endcost/powerpick/slots.

Debatable :

Fallout : it's a nuke... but you have to use it on a dead teammate.

There's no bad powers in Ice/Rad, everything has a good use, if situational sometimes... Have fun !

Lecxe said it all pretty much. Personally I'd stay clear of choking cloud. Just not worth it imo. You'll have enough endurance issues as it is. My corrupter is Ice/rad so i know

Lecxe that was a great and detailed post, it will help a lot thnx

I took every power in the Rad pool except fallout and emp pulse - personally I'm not big on attacks that leave you exhausted. I love the Rad secondary set to bits tbh.. although it is in no way a healer set, it work brilliantly in a team scenario and is the ultimate boss killer set IMHO.

- Rad Emission -

Radiation infection : 2 Slot it with Defense Debuff & Accuracy Debuff Get it as soon as you can and it will be your friend for life (one of my favourite powers in the game tbh - also works as a great pulling power as they can't hit you due to the debuff )
Enervating field : 3 Slot with End redux (dont think of using it before you can do this as it is really end heavy)
Lingering radiation : End Redux, 2 x Slow and 2x Accuracy (you actually have to hit with this one)
Accelerate Metabolism : 2 X Endurance modification and a few recharges if you want to be really nice to your team.
Radiant aura : 3 x Heal and 3 x Recharge: A healing bubble every 5 seconds (great for respect trials)
Mutation : 3 slot with Recharge and you can res every minute
Chocking cloud : 2x hold duration and 2 x end redux
Really love this, if you want to heal the lead pack, stick this on and charge in with the brutes, the hold works well and allows you into the action to pulse those heals.
