No disrespect to any peeps i know, but ive got to say I reckon invul tanks are now the tank of choice followed closely by ice tanks.

Fire tanks, forget it these days. Only two shields, that have been nerfed through ED, mean you are the easiest of tanks to toggle drop. No power in the set gives knockdown resistance meaning you HAVE to take acrobatics. Finally there is no panic button, just a useless self res, which youll be doing a lot against a half decent team.

Stone, excellent tanking, best for pure punishment taking-ness, but too slow without a speed boost. Also not being able to toggle drop granite ( cept with holds ) is nice.

Invul, good overall survivability, plus whats sets them apart for group matches is unyeilding. Ie not thrown back by hurricane/bubbles, and resistant to tk too. Also having a panic button, unlike fire, that cant be toggle dropped, is a must.

Ice, this set has come into its own these days, and ice has an excellent panic button in hibernate. The ability of trollers to severely drop defense with autohit poers like radiation infection makes me wonder how good theyll be in pvp teams.

1) All shields for all Tanks were affected by ED - it's just that Fire Tanks had lower resistances to start with that causes them problems.

2) Actually, it's just as "easy" to toggle-drop an Inv tank - both Fire and Inv have three toggles to run in their primary (Fire Shield, Plasma Shield, Blaing Aura / Temp Invul, Unyielding, Invincibility). Seeing as Fire usually pick up one more toggle in Acrobatics, that means they're usually less simple to toggle-drop in combat, although both can be supplemented by running Combat Jumping and Sprint/PPS/PPQ. Note: I'm not trying to say that this makes Fire Tanks any more survivable than Inv Tanks, but they are statistically no more easy to detoggle (although having mez-resistance spread across multiple shields is both an advantage and a disadvantage). Don't forget that detoggling is an issue that's being looked into at the moment.

im with seri on this, fire is just not very good in pvp (nor pve but thats a different story :P)

i recall going in pvp one time and being able to toggle drop a firetankers shield with stuns easily (em/dark brute myself)

where i couldnt toggledrop an invul, nor a granite

also when their end gets drained, fire tanks have to reactivate 3 toggles to make sure they wont get held/stunned/knocked down where invul, ice and earth only need 1

ice would seem nice, as defense has gotten better, but then there are still the nasty autohit toggles

Tank Primary doesn't matter (With the exception of Stone Tanks, they're poo), if anything the secondary matters most. They just need to be a little Tougher than everyone else. I don't know about you lot, but if I was facing a team with an Inv tank, my last target would be the Inv Tank. Same goes for a team with an Ice or a Fire. Same even for Stone, but Stone is easy to get away from.

summed up brilliantly, fire has the extra BU, invul has the knockback res, ice has the def. the secondary is far more important tho, x-plosive played in two 8v8 matches last night and got join top kills with a couple of blasters with the help of 2 BU's, enrgy transfer and total focus didnt die once either cos as hobo said no1 targets the tank, personally i think invul is the best for pvp but all the tank primaries have advantages apart from stone (unless theres a kin on the team)

It's easier to drop toggles with brawl (EM/Fire Brute), and more reliable (can't be stopped by pesky external mez-protection).

But Fire Tanks can hit Consume to regain their lost endurance. And technically they only need to pop a breakfree and activate one toggle to make sure they won't get mezzed/knocked down, but we're picking hairs here.

KS - As I mentioned in game next week is a bad week for me as I have to do a 2pm-10pm shift to cover just in case anything goes wrong with the new system/it's users.

Due to travel I won't be home till about 11pm.

Hopefully next week will be the only week I have to do that shift and from then I will be back on 6am-2pm / 10am-6pm shifts.

Looking forward to some more PvP. After Mondays stint on test I feel alot more comfortable with Trem and his abilities and the team we had was perfect as we mostly knew each other and our abilities/play styles.

Team 1 doesn't stand a chance btw

if your talking about acrobatics, player cast holds will overcome its hold protection in one hit. my defender with acrobatics got one hit held by seismic smash (stone mellee) i recon its mag 3?

i just found out it is mag 4, but still in pvp acrobatics isnt a reliable hold protection i have found out

It seems we are down 2 players so far for wednesday but we shall continue anything that we will go through i will make sure the others find out.
Syn is right as a Blaster/Defender/Troller BF's are your best defence to hold/immobs so forth other than having a personal Empath or Kin Assistant.
