Dear Corruptors,
I would try to dissuade you from using the dark blast set - I've not seen very many powers in there that I like the look of. There are 2 cones, tentacles and a pure damage one, that are good and I hear the snipe is nice as snipes go but the rest of the set is kinda poop. It needs some dev lovin'. The fire/dark is a great combo, and with the heal and debuffs teams will love you.
As for AM and hasten, there's no way you can perma it any more. You really really need stamina with the rad emission set.

It really comes down to whether you want the extra safty + control of dark blast or the massive damage of fire.
Dark blast has the advantage of having two god-awful powers in it (dark pit and life drain) which will give you more space when picking powerpools.
Any of the combos you listed will be easily able to solo.
Dead Calm's Defender Manifesto
Dark set: good for a support character. In a team, it's good. Solo... it's not as good as the fire/dark combo, because it lacks attack powers, and those available don't do that much damage.
Fire set: as you said, great for solo. Coupled with /dark, it's good in teams as well.
You could always try out a fire/thermarad. Good for soloing as youve got good attacks with the option of healing yourself (albeit slowly). Plus teams will love you and your rezzies etc
AM isn't perma with hasten and 3 recharge, you have a ~30 second gap during which your end will suffer. I'd recommend slotting AM 3rech/3end anyway, it's base +recovery is higher than Stamina's.
AM by itself is enough to run RI and EF and attack some, with lots of end reducers. However, I think you'll have problems if you want other toggles like CC, Acrobatics, Leadership, Stealth, or if the fights are too long.
Rad/Dark (Rad Primary, Dark Secondary) was named as a vicious Tank Mage combination in CoH.
AM + EF was used in CoH to fake-hit the Blaster Damage Cap. Since EF reduces Enemy Resistance, it stacks on top of all your own Damage Enhancments. AM is obviously constructed the same way. It acctually boosts travel powers beyond the cap as well. At least it did, back when I was more active. Haven't looked through all patch changes as of yet.
Anyhow, me rambling.
Tenebrous Tentacles enables you to lock your enemies down, staying inside the RA and EF radius. With all the -acc debuffs, you can pull of a couple of moonbeams, effectively deal extreme single target attacks.
Basicly, you can't go wrong with Dark/Rad. I'm currently doing one. Baby steps, don't have that much game time now a days.
With the AoE changes, and limitation to amount of enemies you can hit. Dark/Rad strategy didn't suffer much, it wasn't intended for huge mobs anyway, but rather going after as high-level pray as possible.
You most definetly need Stamina.
I've missed reading up on patch changes, but I believe it used to be 6/4 (hasten/am (recharge enhancments only)) or 5/5. Or as some people do, 6/3, and stick more endrdx in AM to make it account for more each time rather than have it perma. Don't have all mi ol' notes left, so you have as much chance as me to Search it up .
So my advice is Dark/Rad.

Since IG and ED, having any more than 3 of any one kind of enhancement in a power is pretty much a waste. You can't make Hasten perma anymore, and I suspect you can't make AM perma as a result. Since the changes, three recharge/three endmod is probably the way to go.

Found the patch notes, will have to study this a bit. I cancelled my subscription about two weeks before that. Cheers for the heads up though.

I love the dark/dark combination, in pve it is probably one of the best combinations when your teaming. When you combind Tar parck, tenticals, and ether of the stair powers there is little that the mobs can do to hit you or your team mates. Also you have the most powerfull heal in the game and the ability to mass rez makes you invaluable to any team as prim debeffer, and prim or secondary healer.
My only complaint about bark blast is it doesnt do that much damage, but if you debuff them right you will survive almost anything.
(This is my second topic, since my 1st one didnt appear. Sorry for any inconv.)
I'm having some rest of melee AT's. I'm thinking of building a corrutor but I need a few sugestions:
Fire/Dark - lvled one til lvl8. Tar Patch + Rain + Fire Blast is a great combo. True solo monster here.
Dark/Dark - Say byebye to your accuracy $target
Dark/Rad - Debuff monster?
I can't make a choice here. I love Dark, so maybe Dark/Dark or Dark/Rad will be my choice. I just need some sugestions. (Btw, I'm going to teamplay, but as you know, sometimes it is hard to find a team or u just dont feel like teaming).
Another question is: If I go to Dark/Rad, do I really need Stamina? Hasten+3Rech on AM could make it perma?
Thanks in advance, and please post some builds if you like
