sappers

gettin caught by a sapper when solo just aint fun.
as a regen i do the i h then the dull pain , run in put fear on the sapper fear misses and if i'm unlucky the sapper get his hold
at this point if you have no break frees you are doomed , and havin break frees is no gaurentee.
with i h and dull pain on this is a long slow death.probaly long enough to make a cup of tea come back sit down just in time to see your character face plant.

or you have plenty of time to relog your character.and get back to the sapper before the kettles boiled.as it takes longer than the 30 secs to die you also have no debt.

quite frankly a sapper has to be the most feared minion i have encountered on any character , quite often being a root cause of a team wipe
his recharge is quicker than the duration of his stun he rarly misses his target and once in his grip theres little chance of escape

so why i'm i postin this
give the freekin sappers a promotion and make the hassle worth the XP, for a minion to be this feared is just not right.

PROMOTE THE SAPPS

nooooooooooo!!!

making them LT's would mean giving them more hitpoints thus prolonging the pain

Well the Malta Group IS specifically made to battle superheroes, so they should be very hard opponents
As for Sappers, well you are probably already targetting them to go down before anyone else in a Malta mob - and apart from that, make sure to carry at least 2x break free and 2x luck before entering a Malta mish - that should give you time enough to run if a Sapper gets the lockdown on you.
Running away is often the best defense.

That at least is my experience.

Massively agree with Gonk here. Promoting them pushes them up toward the level of Ringmistresses, which are real pains in the bottom.

Sappers aren;t difficult solo, in fact I find them quite easy because they are minions. A single sapper is only dangerous if you get caught unawares. If you have MoG, they aren't dangerous then either. If I have warning that the little zapper is there, they die first, and before they can do much damage.

Sappers are defeatable solo using planning, a bit of luck, and tactics.

Ringmistresses are defeatable solo by clicking IH and hoping you can flatten the silly woman before it runs out. I hate Ringmistresses so much more than sappers, and that's partially because they do psi damage, but mostly because they are bosses and take a long time to kill. Making sappers lieutenants would just make them worse.

I have a ranged single target fear so dont find them a problem for my regen (gotta love the power pools eh?)

My SR has yet to meet them, I just hope they miss me often

Wouldn't rely on that too much. Yes they will miss more often, but if you get hit then kiss your toggles goodbye - speaking from first nasty experiences here. Pick them out and take them down first. As minions they are easily disoriented with Flitz's Cobra Strike, usually giving me enough time to take them out before they can zap me!

UNION @Flitz 50, Lead Hose 50, Red Rag 50
DEFIANT Rose Bloodthorn 34
VIGILANCE Captain Caledonia 20 - Yeah, I made toons on the French server coz we only had 4 back then (might have to transfer/recreate them on one of the US servers)
..and many more!

So run in, Air Sup then ToF should handle it while I kill them then?

My favoured for katana is Golden Dragonfly, Soaring Dragon. Even if they survive it, they're too busy getting back up to survive the follow-ups.

as a claws regen, they are 1st target, running Integ and focussed accuracy (yup dem epic pools are a godsend )
open with Focus then usual attack chain. they are usually dead before the 2nd cycle of attacks begins.

What he said. The problem with sapppers comes from when you can't see them.

against sappers with a claws i dont think follow up cuts it. I'd love to have build up.

i have no problem with sappers.
My spine/SR/tp scrappers has Practiced Brawler, and i have never been stunned while it was on in PvE.
I normally target them , then get back and stand behind a corner and tp them.
Then ripper (to knock them down), impale and to finish them barb swipe. If they get lucky they hit me once, but my stamina is good slotted so no problem there.
When in a team they are even easier to deal with, if they are very lucky they hit one team member before going down.

I love Sappers.
But i hate Longbows nullifier or spec-opts for draining all endurance.

just my two cents of advice.

being a super reflex i am lucky to be hit by a sapper but if i was a claws invuln i can see problems maybe if you chose to run up and use follow up

Claws is easy. Get close, Focus, they fall down and you can kill them before they get back up again.

No problems at all facing Sappers with the claws/invul powerset. As Firekitty said: fire off Focus, Shockwave and Focus again, and they never get a chance to hit you. Not to mention the fact that Unyeilding prevents against those horrid taser thingies.

yeah i know its just the power build up aint there for initial strike which is nice on high levels, however i do like the quickfire focus/shockwave/focus thing. i dont think i have mine recharge slotted for that. I need to check that out.

Best way i found to beat them is jump at them from behind, hit them with Air Sup (gonk your spot on about this attack) then keep them on the ground

Ok crappy quote coming up :P
